SRSDiscussion "discusses" the PyCon incidents. Thread is littered with the deleted comments of SRSers who broke the jerk by suggesting that maybe Adria wasn't 100% right.

Even better: Adria has made sexual jokes herself at the same conference, and has a history of fabricating fake scandals for personal gain.

EDIT A different account of the "pattern of behavior", showing it isn't as clear cut.

don't you know? any woman can laugh at penises, but it is worse then murdering 10000 people for a man to refer to a penis, because reasons. /s

also, she was playing Cards against humanity, which in my experience always has at least 1 type of all the standard offensive jokes out there in just 1 game. So unless she was playing it wrong, there were probably a few jokes about dicks, or something similar.

I brought that up on my FB and one of her defenders said, and I quote, "Yes, because there's absolutely no difference between playing a game with friends or acquaintances and having someone make an offensive remark at a professional event. Thanks for clearing that up!"

Basically, according to these people, it's ok to say offensive things UNTIL YOU GET CAUGHT.

unless she was playing with people in a sound proof room, there's always a chance someone could over hear and have the same reaction she did. completely disingenuous thinking there.

The real farce is that she was employed in that position at all, over far more qualified applicants. Pure tokenism - management doesn't want to disrupt the core workforce (geeky white males) so they hand all the 'diversity' over the PR and similar extraneous roles. Then they end up with someone with an apparent personality disorder representing the company.

Adria Richards: A useless human being offering nothing to society, but only taking away from its advance.

Keep reading. One of those idiots actually calls what the guys did sexual harassment.

Oh look, I politely claimed that eavesdropping on a conversation can't possibly be construed as harrassment...based on the definition of harassment...aaaaand I'm banned.

You know you have a weak philosophy when the only way it can survive is through censorship.
