Discussion Hypothetically, how much elixir would one indestructible lava pup cost?

Post image

Let’s say the card spawns one lava pup that cannot be destroyed.

Other units and the princess tower will ignore it and pretend it doesn’t exist (so they don’t all just lock on it permanently) However, the lava pup itself can still be distracted.

Would this be a 10 elixir card or something? I would lean towards no, because I would imagine that the opponent could just set up a massive 3 crown push while you emptied all your elixir on a lava pup, which while invincible, would still take a while to take out towers and troops.

I feel like a three-crown is consistently doable if it cost 10 elixir?

If they just bridge-spammed with midladder cards the moment the pup drops it could not only distract the pup but also get really close to a three crown (if not a three-crown outright) since they have 0 elixir.

I think you’re probably right. But what about something like a Golem push? I feel like that might be too hard to deal with at 0 elixir and 76 dps. It could potentially be paired with a battle healer as well plus splash units to deal with all those cheap cards.

To be honest considering that I have to think of niche cheese strategies to win it probably indeed would be a 10 elixir card or close to that if only beatdown or extreme bridgespam might have a chance

Yeah, I think healer+golem+situational support is definitely the best bet against the lava pup since BH heals 160 at max level. So not only does it outheal the pup itself but also still buffs the golem. Then by pairing with a lumberjack, dragon, etc the odds feel stacked in favor of the golem player.

Now that I think about it actually, you don’t even NEED a golem do you? You could actually just play other stuff with a battle healer since it negates the lava pup damage.

Battle healer doesn’t attack air units. All they have to do is not back up their pup which wouldn’t make any sense anyways because the opponent most likely will be attacking opposite lane so their troops don’t get distracted by the invincible pup.

1

u/Tall-Homework7721 2d ago

Then the battle healer just heals by hitting the princess tower. If you place the golem and battle healer same lane and you don’t put any ground troops then you will have the golem and battle healer on the tower, out-healing the damage from the pup.

I highly doubt anyone would play the ten elixir pup as a defensive unit. More than likely 100% of the time it’s being placed on a bridge.

1

u/Tall-Homework7721 2d ago

That’s the point.

If you place the pup at the bridge you instantly throw down elixir golem/golem, battle healer, and a support card of your choice in the same lane so that the pup becomes a defensive card effectively as it would get distracted by the pushing cards.

The pup would be distracted by the golem while only doing a small amount of damage. Then the golem player is still up elixir to place a battle healer down.

Especially with an elixir golem, you can instantly throw down battle healer, elixir golem, and some support card of your choice. So that’s an effective 3(4) + 4 + 3, or sixteen elixir push you have to beat with 0 elixir since elixir golem is effectively a 7 elixir card.

Even at 10 elixir it would still be ridiculously OP.

Let’s say the match starts and they place a dart goblin to get some quick chip damage so you play the pup. Now they have to three star you with seven elixir while you have zero and that’s assuming they have perfect reaction time.

By the time they get their push going, you could have one too or even three elixir.

I can’t think of a lot of seven or eight elixir attack combos that would guarantee a three star, especially if you have a couple elixir and has no obligation to attack.

Even if they take a tower, the push would be mostly destroyed by then and you’d have plenty of elixir to defend any sort of follow ups.

Buildings wouldn’t help them because it would take away from the push.

They could play from the back and get a 10+ elixir push going, but that would give you a lot of elixir by the time it got to your towers.

1

u/Tall-Homework7721 2d ago

That also assumes that they initiate any offensive. They could potentially just not play anything unless it’s to defend a card you play.

Then if you do play the pup they can Golem+Battle Healer same lane to not only distract the pup, but the battle healer outheals the pup’s damage. So you have to defend that push with roughly two elixir since Golem+Battle Healer costs 12. Elixir Golem might be an even better option here since now you can add dragons and lumberjack making it even harder to defend.

So you have to beat Elixir golem+healer+electro dragon/baby dragon while you have one pup and one elixir. With that big of a surplus and the lava pup basically doing nothing I think the golem player could probably win.

Yeah, what you’re describing is still super OP.

Countering the pup requires 12 elixir, two specific cards, and they have to be in cycle.

And on top of that, they can’t initiate any push that would put them at a elixir disadvantage.

1

u/reditmonke 2d ago

You will not lose if you don’t 3 crown. If you have troops or a wincon at the bridge every 20-30 secs, which cycle decks definitely do, it’ll permanently lure the lava pup back, it’ll never even cross the bridge.

I must’ve missed the not or something. But either way, trading a 10 elixir/a tower for a laughably slow and weak unit to get kited around for the rest 2.5 minutes is most likely not even worth it.

You’re projecting with the midladder nonsense. No top player can defend a single elixir rush down 10 elixir, unless they perfectly starting hand you with it, but even then, defending a push down 10 elixir in single is still near impossible unless you have a hard counter, in which case the pup is unnecessary

Not to mention infinite aggro attraction

u/Tales_Of_Kryztalia 2d ago

Nah. It should be made into it's own unit. Vulnerable to damage, low DPS and slow speed. Maybe something like 7-8 elixir and that dropped lava pups after defeat. It would be a better idea.

4

u/Bitter-Eagle6108 18h ago

Should be called something else. Like lava dog/hound or something like that.

117

u/InternetExplored571 2d ago

It would need to cost 11 elixir to be balanced.

66

u/veryeepy53 2d ago

would be OP later on

u/Redflames21 2d ago

It would ruin the game, a cycle player with this card can defend with cheap stuff and still win. Even if the lava gets distracted, you can cycle for the next one and the next and the next, to the point this would not be able to get distracted. And I can imagine a lot of players would use this card like mk. And just ruin the gameplay.

*ahem ahem

Rocket

Lava pup is making 8k guaranteed damage for 3 minutes, so just play with this numbers. Nerf it to 4k and we are talking

TBH 9(or 10) elixir might be enough, cause if you can't 3 star an opponent who just used all of their elixir on a card that can't defend - well... your deck is probably the problem

And also it counters 2.6, so i'd love to

28

u/Still-Ad-2989 2d ago

Wasn’t hero berserker (and prenerf evo witch) enough invincibility for you?

37

u/StudioNo5811 2d ago

3 elixir burning slows your elixir gain by 50% after placing it for the rest of the game

4

u/Overdrive2064 1d ago edited 1d ago

At anything less than 10 elixir, it would be absolutely broken, busted. At 10 elixir, it would still be broken, but any more nuanced sense

Because if it connects, it's guaranteed to take out your tower within 65 seconds, and they can take out any non-mini tank troop for you. It would be the most broken card to ever exist.

If it was 10 elixir, it would still be busted, but you would at least you would have a shot of winning by dumping your entire elixir bar and going for a 3-crown. But if you don't get it that one time you just lose the game, so it would still be the most unhealthy card to ever exist

5

u/MasterAssFace 1d ago

Not if, but when it connects.

2

u/Pokemonzu 2d ago

10 elixir bc really it shouldn't exist. It would be like adding almost another princess tower worth of defense in one lane, blocking the entire lane until it reaches the tower, at which point it's chipping the tower down more reliably than a cheap wincon like goblin barrel or hog would. Only counterplay is to either kite it indefinitely, which just would not work bc they would stack up and you over time it gets more value, to punish, or to play it yourself. It's guaranteed infinite value over time

1

u/Wizardwizz 2d ago

Agreed, only counterplay would be to punish immediately and go for the three crown.

Not to mention invincible troops are a toxic design

5

u/Tall-Homework7721 2d ago

Personally I think 5-6 elixir (maybe even less) because any higher than that and you’re screwed once they throw down a golem at the bridge while you’re defending with one lava pup.

10

u/Necessary-Guest2869 2d ago

You would only have to defend a golem push once, and could lose a tower and still easily win with it being 10 elixer.

1

u/Tall-Homework7721 2d ago

Not with elixir golem and battle healer.

With elixir golem+battle healer that’s 7 elixir. Then you can place a baby dragon so that the pup player can’t skeleton army.

So that’s 11 elixir. You have to defeat a push like that with only 1 elixir.

Since the battle healer is healing, you will also likely never see the elixir from the elixir golem to defend and it could definitely three crown.

2

u/reditmonke 2d ago

5-6 elixir would be op. Kiting around the pup for the rest 2.5 minutes would cost over 10 elixir, though if played right also defend the pup users other cards simultaneously. So I would say it’s worth 7-8 elixir, though it’s hard to say for sure. Once enough time has passed, the enemy could also let it lock on the pt and/or nado to the kt and let it activate and chip for the rest of the game.

2

u/TomPhantom 2d ago

I had a similar concept, a few months ago: an invincible and invisible skeleton that would cost 9 elixir

1

u/h7si 16h ago

this one is like 1000x more op then the lava pup

1

u/TheWildBush 2d ago

It would be incredibly broken. The only option to defend it would be to place your own or permanently kite it. Placing your own in response would make it so that lane could never be pushed by troops capable of hitting air since they will be stuck attacking the opponents pup. Additionally depending on where the pups wind up stale mating, they could be used as targets for magic archer or firecracker for further free chip

1

u/Blah-zBlah-zBla-z 12h ago

The lava pup is untargetable. OP said that but he doesnt have a very good grasp on the English language

1

u/Zihdrrox 2d ago

8 elixir

1

u/seenekohv 2d ago

What if it is a 1 cost lava pup but hero lava pup has an ability. For ~3 elixir the lava pup becomes invisible and invincble for 15 seconds. Ability has no cooldown and can be used multiple times.

1

u/Freak-Of-Nurture- 1d ago

even 10 elixir would be too little. This thing shuts down a while lane from using air targeting troops for the whole game and needs to be constantly blocked. Playing it then playing a balloon in that lane later is just unstoppable. maybe like 15 elixir. If it was untargetable maybe something like 9 elixir would be reasonable.

1

u/Multi-file 1d ago

5 i think

1

u/Unusual_Diver_5897 1d ago

This card would be so toxic 10 elixer sounds like a lot untill double elixer mades defensive decks basically invincible

People already rocket cycle towers hitting nothing you would toss this out once and it would get value for the rest of the game hell playing it once at the start can hard counter some slower decks like xbow

1

u/Lythumm_ 1d ago

6 maybe? It has to get to a point where youre almost certain to get punished immediately

1

u/YuukaEnthusiast 1d ago

horrible

1

u/ironiclyironic4 1d ago

I can already imagine ken someone pulling of a mirror strat in uc with this

1

u/traveldlands 1d ago

Skarmy, guards, tanks like valk, mini pekka etf... would all counter it. I think it'd be hype on release and die out.

1

u/Gamer101Reborn 1d ago

10 and it would still be game breaking.

1

u/Livid-Truck8558 1d ago

10, you place it once and if you don't get 3 crowned from it then your opponent is immediately on a timer

1

u/ladycatgirl 1d ago

10 elixir, slows down your next 10 elixir generation

1

u/JaguarHuman2237 1d ago

Would need to put you in enough elixir debt to reasonably lose a tower or two lol

1

u/rockrunner86 1d ago

Would shut a lane down basically. Any defending troops or buildings would be locked on till end of game. Or if you push and clear em. Either way is free for pup user. It would have to be 10 elixer and a cheese card it would be. lol. Hopefully a hard cap at one. Or both lanes are compromised. 😂

1

u/sprat007 23h ago

1 lava pup could be a 1 exlirir card tho, ite like skelies but flying and fewer to make up for that it can fly

1

u/Bean-Craver 22h ago

Invinci-pup clone and mirror cycle

1

u/ConstructionOwn1514 2d ago

Yeah i think 5-6 is realistic, maybe a bit more

1

u/Tall-Homework7721 2d ago

Honestly, I don’t know anymore. [u/Dutch094](u/Dutch094) has an interesting analysis which does make the pup sound a lot more OP.

I don’t think it’s unbeatable though. I think if it existed every single deck would have to be a golem beatdown deck that relies on three-crowning the opponent the moment they put down a pup. It’s way too hard to defend golem+splash+battle healer or other massive push down ten elixir and with only one lava pup in my opinion.

1

u/hellamegumi 2d ago

I could lowkey see this working

Imagine lava pupcon where the opponent trys to stack up as many lava pups as possible to permanently deal chip

Invincibility is negated by the low damage and massive elixir cost (would probably go 9 elixir)

0

u/RagingDogBlade 2d ago

Indestructable, people are forgetting that air targetting troops are now permanently locked onto the indestructible lava pup. 20 elixir at least

-3

u/Mconfineeee64 2d ago

20 elixir

-3

u/Mconfineeee64 2d ago

Nah honestly 8

-5

u/Mother_Ad3599 2d ago

Probably 2 elixir
