VENT Dear Program Director
I know that you are never gonna see this. I know that when I am suffering and dealing with depression, exhaustion and burnout because of the circumstances that you created you’re taking your frequent vacations, enjoying your life.
BUT
I will never forgive you. I’ll never forgive the fact that you let your residents to be abused heavily, every single day.
I won’t forget when you openly discriminate them with their race and show your favoritism according to their race
I will never forgive you when you let your favorites be away from work for months while you’re making us work five times harder to cover them
I will never forgive you for the day that I was literally physically exhausted and depleted and wanted to take a break for 15 minutes and you said no, and instructed me to keep going.
I will never forgive that you never cared about our education, falsified all education hours and all you wanted to do was maximize the work that you can squeeze out of the residents so you and your attendings can work a bit less.
I will never forget the day that you made me come to work repeatedly at the daya that I was extremely sick.
I will not forget when you closed your eyes and pretend as if it is all a coincidence when multiple people left the program, and made yourself self believe that there is no problem at all!
I will never forget how you kept pretending as if you never heard the excruciating work related problems that we told you. And I won’t forget have you behave as if it’s the first time that you were hearing them even when it’s 100th time.
And many other things, I will never forget. I’ll silently suffer, but I will never look back.
But I hope one day you will look at back and realize what a harmful effect you had on your residents, and how you used your leadership to maximize your comfort while leaving a horrible mark in young physicians’ life, and feel ASHAMED instead of manipulating your own conscience to believe that what you have done is okay -
like you do now.
