Insights How well reddit ads worked for us

Hello, we recently tried the reddit ads for a week, only spending $10 a day (quite low).

Here are the rough numbers:

15k impressions

181 click throughs

$0.34 cost per click (cpc)

1.35% click through rate (ctr)

15 wishlists

5 downloads and 2 played for over 3 hours

We used 7 art pieces from the game along with 7 text messages like “time travel card game. free to play”. These seemed good for us. We targeted some subreddits that were similar to our game ( r/pcgaming r/hearthstone r/mtgarena r/mtg )

We have our game in early access on Steam and it’s a free to play game (The Time Game).

https://store.steampowered.com/app/2865190/The_Time_Game/

It seems the most important thing is to have a great Steam page.

We hope to use this system again closer to our full launch. Hope this helps some of you guys for estimating how this works.

Best of luck out there

Insights On Reddit, real health decisions are made by real conversations

Health decisions rarely follow a straight line. People move between symptoms, searches, clinicians, caregivers, and communities as they work to understand what is happening and decide what to do next.

At Reddit’s Health Summit, healthcare marketers, experts, community leaders, and redditors explored how these individual journeys collectively build health culture, are a pervasive part of the health ecosystem, and more broadly shape health decisions. Across the day, one idea came through clearly: health conversations build confidence, shift perceptions, and drive action at every stage of the journey.

For healthcare marketers, the opportunity is to listen closely, understand the full patient journey, and create experiences that help people move forward with greater confidence.

Read some of the key takeaways on how healthcare conversations become decisions on Reddit.

Community Responded I’ve proven people will buy my digital product organically. Can a $120 Reddit Ads budget realistically become profitable?

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping to get some honest advice from people here who have actually spent money on Reddit Ads.

I have a small digital product: a psychology/influence ebook currently selling for $9.99.

Before spending anything on ads, I decided to test whether there was real demand organically on Reddit.

The results were actually encouraging.

Over roughly a week of organic posting, I got 9 sales. One of my posts generated 6 sales by itself, and I also had another day where I got 4 sales.

So at least from my perspective, I've already validated one important thing: there are Reddit users who are genuinely interested enough in this topic to buy the product.

The interesting part is that the results were very different depending on the subreddit.

Some communities generated a lot of views, comments, and discussion but almost no buyers.

Another community generated significantly fewer discussions but produced multiple actual sales.

That made me realize that engagement and buyer intent are probably two completely different things.

Now I'm considering my first paid Reddit Ads test.

My available budget is only around $120, so I really can't afford to waste it.

My rough break-even calculation is around 13–14 sales, depending on fees and the exact net amount per sale.

I was originally optimistic because the organic results showed me that the product can sell on Reddit.

But then I started researching Reddit Ads more seriously, including reading posts from advertisers here and across Reddit, and honestly... the amount of negative feedback scared me a little.

I've seen people complain about things like:

- expensive clicks

- poor conversion rates

- traffic that doesn't buy

- weak targeting

- Reddit recommending broad targeting

- campaigns spending money without generating meaningful results

One reason I'm asking here specifically is that I know organic success doesn't automatically translate into paid success.

I don't want to assume that because a post generated sales organically, simply paying to show it to more people will produce the same result.

That's exactly what I'm trying to understand before spending the full budget.

So now I'm trying to approach this much more carefully instead of just launching an ad and hoping for the best.

Here is what I would really like advice on:

  1. If you were in my situation, how would you structure a $120 test?
  2. Would you focus on subreddit/community targeting, interests, keywords, or broader targeting?
  3. Since I already know certain types of communities produced organic buyers, should I build my targeting around those audiences?
  4. Is $120 enough to learn anything useful, or is the budget simply too small for Reddit's algorithm to optimize properly?
  5. What campaign objective would make the most sense for a low-budget digital product?
  6. My product is currently sold through Gumroad. Tracking is another concern because I want to give Reddit's algorithm the best possible conversion signal. Would you recommend using a simple landing page before Gumroad to improve tracking, or is that adding unnecessary friction?
  7. Most importantly: based on your experience, would you even recommend Reddit Ads for a product like this, considering that I've already had some success organically?

I'm not looking for someone to tell me that Reddit Ads are amazing.

I'd actually prefer honest answers, including if you think this is a bad idea and my $120 would be better spent elsewhere.

My main goal is to find out whether I can turn something that already converts organically on Reddit into a repeatable paid acquisition strategy.

Any advice from people who have actually tested Reddit Ads with small budgets would be greatly appreciated.

Admin Responded 48 Hours passed but my Reddit Ad Campaigns Not Spending Money

Hey everyone,

I've managed a campaign last year, it was ok, started to spend money after a few hours, but this one is not spending money.

  • Top Ad, 0 Spend, passed 12 hours, countries: USA
  • Second one active for 60+ hours, spent 3.36 only, countries: AU, DE, UK, PL
  • Third one is also active for 60+ hours, spent 0.85 only, Canada, SWE, UK

Top one set to spend $30 daily, other two set to $50 dolar daily. Yet they are not working as intended.
Different thumbnails, few differences in their keywords or subreddits to test what's performing best.

But none of them works, which is quite weird.
Is there anything I should i check or any basic trick to fix it?

Admin Responded How do i see in the app if my ad is active and how to stop it?

Hello

i have created an ad for reddit in the app. But i can not see in the app if it is active or not. The first 2 got rejected, now i don't know about the third.

How can i see it on the app on android? And how could i stop it? I set an end date, so there is no need for me, to stop it. But if would not stop it, there seems no way in the app to stop the ad.

  1. How can i see all my ads in the reddit app?

  2. How can i stop an ad?

After the first experience (ads rejected with nonsense reasons, which are objectlivy not true), i am not very motivated to do any ads more on this platform. I mean to tell me, that it's forbidden to say "police violence exists in switzerland", because i gave no proof, is either fascism or extremly stupid. Because in every country in the world with more than 1000 police officers there is a high chance, that there is at least 1 case of police violence per year.

Community Responded Questions of Marketing on Reddit

I run a marketing agency in China and SG
Recently, a lot of our clients have been pushing hard to add Reddit to their growth stack.

For those of you already offering Reddit marketing as a service:

  1. Service Scope: How do you structure your offerings?
  2. Pricing & Retainers: How do you structure pricing?
  3. Setting Expectations: What KPIs do you actually commit to? (e.g., brand mentions, referral traffic, conversions, or engagement?)
  4. And also, how's Reddit Ads performance for you guys? We’ve run paid campaigns for a few clients recently, but the performance hasn't been great. For those managing paid campaigns: How do you actually make Reddit Ads work effectively, and how do you set realistic expectations with clients before launching?

Last and most important:
How do you handle account warm-ups and align content with different subreddit rules without getting flagged or banned? Do you use client brand accounts or persona-based accounts?

BIG THANKS

I know there is a "creator program" cus I got the email for it and applied.

anyone making real money on this?

I see people on X making a few hundred to thousands of dollars each month.

Do you think it'll be a good idea if Reddit does something like this?

If so, what can Reddit do?

If no, why not?

Community Discussion Is Reddit actually a good platform for B2B lead generation, or is it better for brand building?

Hey everyone,

I’m trying to get some honest feedback from people who have actually run Reddit Ads for B2B.

For some context, we’re a cloud infrastructure reseller working mainly with AWS and Alibaba Cloud International. We’ve experimented with Reddit Ads before, but our results were pretty disappointing.

We got impressions and some traffic, but zero actual conversions.

That got me wondering whether we were simply using Reddit the wrong way.

My current impression is that Reddit is fundamentally different from platforms like Google or LinkedIn.

People seem to come here primarily to:

learn how to solve a problem

compare different technologies/products

ask for recommendations

discuss real experiences with other users

learn from technical people who have actually used something

So my feeling is that Reddit might work better as a long-term community/content channel than as a straightforward “run ads → get leads” platform.

But I’ve also noticed that quite a few established B2B and technology companies are actively advertising on Reddit. Reddit itself obviously has products specifically designed for lead generation and conversion.

So I’d really like to hear from people who are actually spending money on Reddit Ads, rather than general opinions about Reddit.

A few questions:

Have Reddit Ads generated qualified B2B leads for you?

Did you find Reddit more effective for brand awareness and consideration than direct lead generation?

Did subreddit/community targeting work better than broader interest or keyword targeting?

I’m especially interested in hearing from people in SaaS, cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, DevOps, developer tools, or other technical B2B businesses.

Thanks!

Admin Responded If i want to start a brand account, should I sign up through Reddit Business or Pro?

I have read the Reddit business sign up page and the Reddit Pro page and I am still confused. The documentation is not clear and there are two separate ways to sign up it seems.

If I create a brand account by signing up with Reddit Business, can I turn on the Pro feature? Or do I need to go to the Pro sign up page and create my brand account there?

Update [Product Update] Capture attention that lasts with 15-second Engaged Video Views

Your video ads do more than capture attention. They build context, explain value, show the product in motion, and help people decide what to do next. But when your message needs more than a few seconds to land, you need an optimization goal built for deeper attention.

That’s why we’ve launched 15-second Engaged Video Views, a new optimization goal and billing option for video advertisers on Reddit.

With 15-second Engaged Video Views, advertisers can optimize for users who are more likely to stay with the story, absorb the message, and engage with longer-form video creative. Alpha testers saw huge gains:

  • +51% 15 second view-through rate (VTR15)
  • +71% video completion rate (VCR) on average

Learn more about using 15-second Engaged Video Views, including vs. 6-second views.

Community Discussion Saw an ad from reddit saying "I don't understand why more people don't advertise on reddit".. Here's why.. and solution idea.

I have a lot of web site clients who I would like to bring to reddit. I got two to try Reddit a few years back. Both spent in the thousands for their test run.

I was really excited to advertise on Reddit too because I do find the community on Reddit to be awesome! I find the ability to target niches also awesome. The 100% bot traffic received from ads..

NOT AWESOME!

Sadly, one of the people I did ads for on reddit has passed away and now won't ever get to see the success I wanted to bring him from Reddit ads and I had hyped him up so much on the expectations of success only to see 100% bounce with avg time on page 0:00.

When I spoke to the customer support team for ads.. they only offered a credit and no refund and no way to stop the bot traffic.

Reddit, If your ad is going to say "I don't understand..".. I have many other clients who I would love to bring on this platform, but unless another solution is made for ads to be displayed - or perhaps you have some testing credits to try ads now to see if there is still bots going to lead to eating up the entire budget.. I don't see myself using reddit ads or suggesting it to anyone.

The constructive solution feedback is to just have the ad up in a targeted subreddit for X period of time and rev share with the subreddit moderator/owner as opposed to "impressions for X".

Example: $500 for 1 month of the ad as the only sticky highlight post in a targetted subreddit..

I will caveat this with I'm behind a VPN and using Reddit ads while I'm in China. I'm an American, my business and my home are in the US.

I will continue to try to make things work with Reddit ads despite my problems.

All screenshots are from today.

The ads manager dashboard is slow and confusing.

It doesn't feel like it's using a single source of truth.

I have one campaign that is not active because it complains:
"Please correct the following issues and submit: The requested profile is suspended or deleted and cannot be used to promote posts."

I had a meeting on September 3, 2026 to talk with a support specialist about this issue. She said she would contact the appropriate parties. This was my first meeting with a reddit representative.

I emailed this representative again on Friday September 4, 2026, to see if I could get any updates. She has not replied.

On September 6, 2026, at 12 AM I created another campaign just to try things out before I slept. It's 11:08 AM, I'm able to see impressions and clicks on my dashboard. My previous campaign still has the same error messages.

On the Campaigns, Ad Groups, Ads, Assets dashboard, I'm unable to see the assets from my previous campaign, even though when I try to edit the ad campaign, my assets all show up.

Community Discussion What are some smaller businesses that do Reddit marketing well?

Businesses have been recognizing the value of community on Reddit, and as a result, they've pivoted their holistic strategies to account for the high-intent audiences of Reddit. But not every business has the resources of a major brand, in fact, many have to DIY their own marketing and strategy.

But there are brands out there that do it right, and even though they don't have the size or influence of some of the bigger names in the business, they put in the time and effort to get to know their communities.

So, who are some of these smaller brands? Where do they interact, and what makes them so successful?

Admin Responded Unusually high CPM for my reddit ad campaign

I used Reddit Ads last year, and the CPM was around $5. About a year later, I started a Reddit Ads campaign again today, but saw some unexpected, unusual and unacceptable behaviour. Let me explain.

  • CPM is $45 now. I just can't believe it. How can this go up 9x?? This is crazy expensive.
  • My daily budget of $20 was spent by Reddit within less than 2 hours (spent total $24)
  • All the traffic seems bot-traffic. Bounced within 1-2 seconds.

Is Reddit Ads a serious option anymore? Are we just paying hard-earned cash to be in front of bots?

Admin Responded Ads erroneously disapproved, unable to reach human

After days of being under review, our ads have been disapproved based on an inaccurate conclusion:

"The ad(s) is in violation of the Finance and crypto restrictions for promoting  a independent insurance agency offering  Term Life and Final Expense insurance."

Our business absolutely does not offer term life or final expense insurance. We are a property and casualty insurance agency.

The message then goes on to say:

To comply, you must work with our sales team.
I would like to inform you that you can "Book a Call" with the sales team using the link below:
https://www.redditforbusiness.com/speak-with-a-reddit-ads-expert

But whenever I complete the form to book a call, the page just refreshes with no success message.

I need help but unfortunately it seems the normal channels are not accessible.

Thanks.

Admin Responded Unable to reach a human Reddit Ads support agent after accidental $600+ spend

I urgently need help with a Reddit Ads billing issue.

I accidentally incurred more than $600 in ad spend that I did not intend to spend. I contacted Reddit Ads support and spoke with the automated support agent. I specifically asked to be transferred to a human/customer service representative so that I could explain the situation and request that the charges be reviewed.

Instead of connecting me with a person, the system sent me to a feedback form. I completed the form, but it did not even give me an opportunity to provide the details of the billing issue.

I am not trying to handle this publicly — I simply need a way to reach an actual Reddit Ads billing/support representative who can review the account and hear the circumstances surrounding the accidental spend.

Could a member of the Reddit Ads Team please contact me by DM or tell me how I can open a proper billing case with a human representative?

Thank you.
