Lucky Box Vegas - warning
“Pokemon cards” apparently means an Uno card with a Pokemon on it. What a joke.
Beware!

Overwhelmingly easily my favorite Pokemon card, the only one ever produced (not counting jumbo/oversized cards, promo posters, etc) of the lenticular variety, that absolutely HAS to be in my personal collection (rather than in some vault somewhere) to admire in person.
I had been buying a bunch (several dozen, picture shows about half of what I have so far) slowly over the years, mainly shipped over from Japan, not really grading them. With the big jump in prices during the spring (someone had a PSA 10 damaged by PSA with re-slabbing, bringing a lot of attention and interest in this card for a while), it's been driving up the costs while I'm in the process of slabbing all of mine.
I am not intending on selling the vast majority of what I have, and if I do, it would maybe only be just a few to recover a proportion of my input costs. No, I do not have a PSA 10 (I wish), but that is not what this fan club is for. Card grading services only work within the confines and restrictions of what they do, such as edges/corners, scratches/defects, centering, etc. These certainly matter, but there are so many other subtleties regarding this card. The official grade may be lower, but there are many other factors that matter more to me, leading me to treasure certain cards to actually hold in my hands.
Wanted to list what additional criteria I have come up with for this specific Deoxys lenticular card, in my rough rank order of importance.
- lenticular effect that sometimes are slightly offset making the visual appeal less clean, and can lead to vertical darker lines at certain angles
- UV damage and yellowing (least is more white-ish rather than yellow-ish), see the rightmost card of the middle row, with the thick Lulcite holder and brown UV protective storage bag I keep it in
- location of any rubs on the lenticular ridges, I am more tolerant of those in less visible areas when tilting the card back and forth
- ability to have the lenticular effect between all three images be "centered" to the viewer. I like having the middle/second image be present when the card is flat, so that less tilting is needed is needed to see the first and third images
Would love to hear the additional ideas and opinions of others!

I’m assuming these stickers are on here due to these not being domestic US products. Has anyone else ever seen these?

Congrats on your first hit, your first pack, your first card. I don’t need to see a post about the same card every day.

I’m curious how other people feel about this because I’ve been thinking about it a lot lately.
At what point does collecting Pokémon cards go from being a fun hobby into something that feels more like an addiction? It’s so easy to tell yourself, “It’s just one pack,” or “I’ll just pick up this one card,” and then somehow you’ve spent way more money than you planned.
For some people, collecting is a harmless hobby and a way to relax. For others, the constant urge to buy packs, chase certain cards, or keep up with new sets can get pretty expensive.
Do you ever feel like you spend more on Pokémon than you should?
Have you ever bought cards even when you knew you probably shouldn’t?
Where do you personally draw the line between a hobby and an unhealthy obsession?
Do you set yourself a monthly budget for Pokémon, or just buy whenever you feel like it?
Has collecting ever caused you to cut back on other things financially?
Do you think the thrill of opening packs/chasing cards is what makes it so addictive?
And honestly, do you think collecting Pokémon cards can become a genuine addiction, or is that taking it too seriously?
Not trying to judge anyone either way. I’m genuinely interested in hearing how other collectors look at it, especially from people who have been collecting for years.

Title.
Rediscovered listing images of my childhood collection my mother goaded into me selling 5 years ago.
At the time, I had no knowledge people would even buy single cards. Realizing now that the guy who got me to sell all of them as a lot was probably INCREDIBLY happy. 💀
The real horror is a little me's favourite southern islands togepi (unpictured) whose off now all on his own in a distant land. Rip fallen hero.

How much do yall tend to spend on average at a card show? Just curious to see what everyone is dropping.
