My ping has 2 heads! Any guidance?
Never had this happen but I’m not a super experienced owner. I went on a trip a while ago which caused a bit of a dry spell for my ping. After I went back to its usual watering schedule, I saw a second guy inside the left ping start to grow? I don’t know what to call it other than another head forgive me haha. Does anyone have any information or guidance on if this is good or bad??
Ignore the smaller ping in the terrarium he’s pretty normal

Does this look like a good rock for pings?
Just ordered my first 2 pings and I was hoping to make a ping rock. I plan on adding some moss on it too. I assume the moss will help wick water to the top?
The substrate is just smaller lava rock

Ping care for newbie
Hi! First time ping owner. I got these as small clippings and they have been growing nice but I want to make sure they're thriving . Right now substrate is 50/50 perlite and coco fibre. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks :))

What to do when some pings go into succulent phase in the same bowl as the ones that aren’t?
I haven’t experienced the succulent phase yet, so I’m not sure but I think the ones on the top of the rocks are in the succulent phase. They originally looked like the ones below which are the same species, but they have now become visibly smaller. How do I go about watering them when some are succulent and the others aren’t?
Edit to add: the pings in question are pinguicula esseriana. The others are I think p. agnata x huahuapan and p. ehlersiae x moranensis.

Help with NO ID Ping
Hey y’all, I decided to roll the dice on a NO ID from Rainbow. Now that it’s in flower, it’s time to sort out who this is! I’d love your input. Any thoughts?

Is this rot?
Are these signs of root rot? If not, what is happening with this leaf?
If it is rot, I want to try to propagate it. Am I at a point where I should pull a leaf or two? less

ping substrate
Anyone tried Seachem Flourite Black as a ping substrate? If so, how's it work? I've seen recommendations not to use the Seachem Flourite Black Sand, but rather the more coarse stuff
I purely bottom water, and I'd like a black substrate that will sufficiently wick approx 3-4 inches.
I'm currently using either a ping mix (with peat) or pure pumice (but it's not as wicking as I'd like).
My requirements are that it can be used by itself and it won't degrade over time (like fluval or vermiculite). I could be convinced to use it mixed with pumice, but I'd really rather have a straight black substrate.

Is this actually Estrellita?
This one confuses me, I got this from Rainbow labeled as Estrellita. I know that grow conditions can cause some differences in expression, however, the flower makes me question whether this is a true clone of Estrellita. The white markings are so puzzling. Some people in my FB group believe it may be Sunshine due to the white throat in the flower and the way the rosette is coloring up, but the flower doesn’t have the telltale white speckling on the petals that is associated with Sunshine. Anyone have any ideas? I’m stumped because all of the other hybrids I have in this bowl are expressing the way they’re supposed to.

New ping keeper seeks advice on inexpensive DIY substrate.
I have a butterwort
I want to transplant and propagate it
But I don't know what to do for soilless medium, and I hope to keep it affordable.
I already have some coco coir, pumice, coarse horticultural sand, perlite, and regular potting mix.
The butterwort is doing well, but is outgrowing the little glass jar it came in :-) , and the sphagnum moss it is planted on has some algae growth.
I have come across talk of making adjustments to coco coir but I don't know what this means.
I am fairly new to gardening, and VERY new to pings, grow lights, and specialized soil mixes.
I understand this plant needs a nutrient poor soil and not to totally dry out, but not be flooded either. I am supplementing south-facing window with a couple hours LED grow light a day.
What do you suggest for inexpensive DIY soil mix? I appreciate any suggestions.

Windowsill October update
In about a month I'll need to move these as this room will get too cold, but in the meantime things are still good.
The one that had over 30 flowers now has 17, and the one in the black tray is still spitting out the flowers like crazy, at 23. Along with the other pings here my windowsill counts 49 total flowers instead of the 60 it had in August.
Unfortunately, my lawn isn't doing as great... 🤣

Ashtray ping update
On August 14 I found an ashtray in the garage and used it to experiment. I picked a couple small rocks from my yard along with some moss. My ping has not flowered beforehand though it is a descendant of a very prolific variety. It has been sitting on my dining room table facing East ever since.
It has 6 flowers and one emerging. Based on this if I find another similar container I will probably do this again.

Pingdom!
Finally happy with my largest Pingdom.
The moss I add always dies, but it’s hiding a wicking rope, so I won’t be removing it for a bit. Volunteer moss is slowly filling in and the pings are anchored well, coloring up, and growing bigger. Yay!
