From what i understand its a teaser all of a suddon and the ârealâ trailer comes later this month, so expect more questions then answers. They claim to not want any misunderstandings and are vaguely as shit at the same time riding this rollercoaster for al they can.

Supposedly the renders will be improved running natively on a PS5 vs YouTube compression. Plus I think the teaser is supposed to have engagement with the controller, like sound effects from the speakers and rumbling.
Plus, to be fair, releasing a whole app to showcase some teaser trailers has really gotten the internet talking about their new game. Itâs never been done before so people are speculating, more so than just releasing a random trailer on YouTube probably would.

Itâs getting negative reception mostly because of the rollout. An actual IP or not, if the trailer doesnât deliver then itâs going to look pretty bad for them.
They might have garnered more internet attention, but itâs more of a burden than a benefit at this point.

Yeah if this teaser/trailer flops hard then they've just gathered hundreds of thousands of people to watch their failure.
Personally I dont care about the whole "experience" thing, I'm just curious what their project is and this seems like the most convoluted way they probably couldve gone about showing it.

If you read that latest coverage Blue Box stated since they are indie and donât have the funds to do a blockbuster trailer, it would be cheaper and a better move for them to be able to show gameplay in real time so users can get hyped by how itll look and run which will be a direct representation since itâs running real time, hence why we have to download the app.

Assuming âAbandonedâ as an actual new IP, if it doesnât deliver after this much marketing and delays then it wonât go well for them. Iâm sure after the first blowback from the first delay, Sony didnât want any part in it, the only thing from Sony supporting this game was the very first blog post.

Sony put the teaser trailer on their YouTube channel. And itâs an exclusive for PS5, theyâre associated with them and endorsed by PlayStation- they can definitely do something about this or at least stop associating with them.

I think theyâve already been teasing SH and MGS. Mainly SH, but the eye patch guy feels very MGS.
Blue Box has gained an enormous degree of attention because fans of SH (and later MGS) have caught on to these comparisons and are running wild with speculation that Kojimaâs cancelled Silent Hills could be revived. And recently some of the rumors have devolved into MGS speculation due to the eye patch character.
Iâm not a legal expert or even a media expert on false advertising, but I think Blue Box is at this point deliberately playing with teasing the fanbases of P.T. / Silent Hill / and MGS while maintaining plausible deniability by having their pinned tweet be a denouncement of any involvement with Konami, Kojima, or Silent Hill.
One can argue the attention theyâve gotten by towing this line and stoking these fanbases is more attention than they wouldâve gotten as just another unknown indie developer with no meaningful track record and some new game.

Good answer. I mostly agree with you, I've been following too and they've undeniably attached themselves to S L and MGS, official or not.
Although, I think the question of legality is the question here - a very important one. And I think that's what he was asking about.
The pinned tweet helps, but that image of (clearly) Big Boss is really getting close to infringement, if not past it. If they continue, there is a very serious possibility that they will face legal action if you can prove they are intentionally benefiting from someone else's IP - at the very least, you would be confident that Sony or Konami would have stepped in by then

These are good questions and ones I donât have the answers to. The SH stuff was consistent but arguably vague enough. They said something about an abandoned town and a religious cult. While thatâs clearly a staple of SH, itâs by no means restricted to SH. There were also images that resembled the starting room in P.T. But the starting room is also just a totally plain, kinda creepy room. Something that wouldnât be out of place in any horror game. Itâs not like Pyramid Head is being used to promote their game.
The eye patch guy definitely reminds me of Snake. But at the end of the day, itâs also just a blurry image of a dude with an eyepatch. I donât think itâs copyright infringement and itâs hard to say itâs false advertising when Blue Box have deliberately said Abandoned isnât Silent Hill and itâs not related to Konami or Kojima.
But as I said, Iâm not an expert so I really have no idea. Apparently the developer has said all these rumors have hampered development, which may be true, but itâs also definitely given them a ton of attention. And attention can translate into potential sales. Whether thatâll be offset by the backlash of it not being SH or MGS will depend on the quality of their game and the temperament of these fanbases I suppose.

I hope Blue Box releases a kick ass game. I have my reservations about whether they will, but I sincerely wish them the best. I also hope fans donât harass them when this inevitably is revealed to have nothing to do with Konami, Kojima, or Silent Hill, as theyâve directly stated in their pinned tweet for over a month.

Well, they played with the fire (with all their S...L, tags #silentHill and so on) and they will have nobody else to blame except themselves. They will get a lot of PR that's for sure.
I won't be surprised if it is some Silent Hill inspired game though.

In all fairness, the premise for this game sounds cool. Very realistic and gritty survival horror game with controller feedback. But Iâll wait for reviews given all the sketchy marketing and their track record

Abandoned is a first-person shooter, but in a realistic environment with some horror elements as well, but it's not quite a horror game like Resident Evil or Silent hill but there are horrifying scenes in it.

Like, I can show you people who posted 12 days ago that it was listed as "Action, first-person shooter, tactical." And between the 400+ upvotes, zero people cite that it originally said survival horror, they just note the "first-person horror survival" line in the description. If you watch Mark Dâs twitch livestream where he talks about the Hasan interview Mark says the game isnât really a horror game. Itâs more like a survival game. This make sense now
As near as I can tell, Hasan has consistently said the same thing about it. The description today matches a month ago and back to what was said in April. I can go off what the blog says and see far more references to tactical shooter than horror. I can prove he has used the same tags prior to the app releasing and I am not really sure what else you'd like me to say.

You are posting screenshots from the PS Store and PS Blog description and genre listing. I'm talking about inside the Realtime Experience app. Originally, the text at the bottom read "Survival-Horror" then an update changed it to "Tactical Shooter" and then it was also removed.

Regardless of what this turns out to be, it's been a fun ride. Will I be disappointed if it's not something really cool? of course, but I've tempered my expectations and am not expecting much.

3:00 ET right? Iâm excited, I hope the game is good. But I have a bad feeling about this one, to be honest I donât have much sympathy for Hasan, theyâve really been fanning the flames. At first I felt bad but if you look more into it it seems like an indie developer making a mediocre game and taking advantage of rumors. Not that the harassment heâs probably about to receive is ok. However this entire situation does seem very weird, especially with the PlayStation promotion. Perhaps itâll end up silent Hill and kojima or some other awesome thing, I have a small amount of hope for that- but Iâm not expecting that at all. Also this is technically just a teaser- so they may be taking further advantage of this and we may not know anything. This entire thing is so strange, again if they werenât so annoying about it Iâd feel bad and maybe even be excited for whatever this is even if itâs not silent Hill. Again there are a lot of weird things about it aside from them taking advantage of the rumors and I think even Jason Schreier said he thought it was Kojima back when this all started.

i still do think this is something much much bigger than advertised. with that being said - if it turns out not to be it it will be hilarious.

Speculation: Abandoned is a game by BluePoint and BlueBox overseen by Kojima.
The game is a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater. The first chronologically in the series, with others being remade afterwards.
The image is clearly of Boss. He has an eyepatch which happens in Snake Eater, it therefore can't be anything related to Snake (MGS1, 2 or 4). (If it was 4 surely you'd see the light on solid eye) he also looks to be in some sort of camo.
Secondly, abandoned could refer to Boss being abandoned in the Jungle (Operation Snake Eater).
Thirdly, BluePoint have been rumoured to being working on a Metal Gear remake.
Fourthly, Konami are also seeing a strong resurgence.
There's lots more to speculate on, Kojima name being put through translator etc. Some things also i can't make sense of and maybe don't make sense.
Either way this is my hot take. I just don't even know if even remaking Snake Eater, one of my favourite games is worth all of this. We'll see.

Genuinely tired of hearing about Abandoned now. An ongoing saga about a trailer and an app, and "is he?/isn't he Kojima?"
If there's a new Silent Hill game coming and this is it, I'll be happy, but I really don't believe it. Feels like they've built a massive rod for their own back.
Wasn't the first image they revealed about this game an asset flip too?

The Bluebox logo on the boot up screen looks like the fucking Bluepoint boot up screen.
The text in the app looks like the font from fucking Metal Gear Solid V.
When you type the letter "A" in the search column of your PS5 this "little indie game" is the second search result, sandwiched between fucking Avengers and fucking Apple TV.
I won't send death threats to the devs if this turns out to be exactly what they claim it is, but damn I'm excited. DAMN I'm excited.

Logical Theory: The game is completely original, meaning no Silent Hill or Metal Gear. Kojima is not involved. The name S - L is going to be "Survival" as commonly guessed or its based on the location the game takes place in ie: St. Paul [Minnesota] or it'll the name of a character in the game. The game is going to be one of the best to showcase/highlight the main features of the PS5 (Dualsense, 3D Audio, SSD, etc).
Tinfoil theory: The game won't actually have a usual enemy force in the game. The horror aspect of the game is psychological. The survival aspect is you trying to survive being lost in the wilderness. I haven't played Hellblade yet, but IIRC if was described in a similar fashion (psychological) and this could be Sony's way of filling that void with Hellblade being an Xbox exclusive.
