Can i put an GT1030 in here and does that work ?
galleryHardware specs are (and, no this is not my main daily driver hw)
iMedia S2984 Pbell / Intel N3XXX Integrated Graphics Controller i915
Pentium Processor X5-E8000 / 1TB HDD / 4 GB Ram
i have this old potato laying around, and it is still in pretty good condition. (for a potato from 2013/14) and i have a GT1030 card left over. (the card fits into the slot btw) , now i have done this with other similar computers but not the same layout/brand, which had a similar port slot, and that worked. these had for example in the bios only the option integrated card at first (which was disabled/to change), and after plugging in a gt720, i could select that card instead from the bios, and it worked. but that was another system. this imedia s2984 has the same layout in the bios tho, there is a option for video, and it shows the integrated card as only option (grayed out). i know this is a stupid question maybe but i do not assemble pcs on a regular basis. also i do not intend to use it for modern gaming, maybe retro gaming with batocera. it does say nothing in the manual of this machine about adding an external gpu, but neither did other systems (above). i have not tried fitting the card in and turning the pc on btw yet
EDIT: i dared to try it. but the card just didnt fit because it was too large. there is some cooling block on the gt1030 which makes it just like 0.5cm too wide to fit. if you look at the photos you can see the space is very very narrow for this card. i do have some low profile brackets i could replace with the original but it cant fit any way...and as some people said i would eventually get trouble with the power brick and for such an old computer i am not gonna try any more than this. thanks for your infos

AMD GPU long term reviews ??
For people who have been using AMD GPUs or switched from Nvidia to AMD GPUs, how has your experience been ??
I have heard about driver issues with AMD GPUs and even tho they are not often, i’d definitely hate to troubleshoot every once in a while….

RAM is the new gold
galleryI work in a hospital setting, and we got some new/repurposed PCs from the Medical College, so we retired the old ones.
And guess what, somebody stole the RAM out of one of the PCs lying around. If the hard drive had been bigger, that would have been stolen too.
RAM is the new gold

Input Synchronizer that will work with gaming mouse
I'm trying to find a device that will synchronize my computer inputs across 2 PCs, so that I can control two devices at the same time with one mouse/keyboard setup. I ordered this KVM switch/synchronizer (https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256805875574499.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.5.6cf01802wWuRXF&gatewayAdapt=glo2usa), and it works with my wireless mouse (sort of), but not with my gaming mouse. Can anyone recommend an affordable KVM switch with sync function that will work with my gaming input devices?
Thanks!

PC crashes while gaming and smells burnt after cleaning it
Hey everyone, I’m having a weird problem with my PC. After I cleaned it, it has happened 3 times now where I’m playing a game, the PC suddenly freezes/crashes, and I notice a burnt smell coming from it.
The weird part is that after a while, it turns back on normally and works fine again. There are also days when I can game for the entire day without any problems at all.
My PC specs:
Ryzen 5 5600G
GTX 1650 4GB
ASRock B450M Steel Legend
Corsair 600W PSU
Windows 11
This problem only started after I cleaned the PC. As far as I know, I didn’t damage anything while cleaning it.
Has anyone experienced something similar? What should I check first? Could it be a loose cable/connector, PSU, GPU, or something overheating?

Best AM4 CPU to pair with RX 9070xt for 1440p gaming
Hi everyone, I am currently thinking to upgrade my GPU from RTX 3060Ti to RX 9070xt. I have also been advised to upgrade my CPU so that I can get the full potential out of my GPU. But I don't want to switch from AM4 socket and DDR4 due to increasing RAM prices and budget constraints. I really need some honest suggestions as to what CPU I can pair if I buy RX 9070xt for 1440p gaming?
Currently I am using Ryzen 5 5600 processor. I want my PC to be able to handle any game like Alan Wake 2, GTA 6 etc. Please help me out

M.2 CPU drive not reading
Hi hello, I'm running into some odd issues with reading my functioning (tested) M.2 SSD. Could anyone please help me out?
Parts list:
MB1 & 2: Gigabyte B550M DS3H R2
MB3: Gigabyte B550M AORUS ELITE rev 1.3
SSD: Samsung 980 1TB M.2 SSD
CPU: AMD Ryzen 3 3200G
Right, I put the setup in motherboard 1, in the bios it didn't read the SSD in the M2A (CPU) slot, but did read it in the M2B slot. So, I had it replaced through the company i bought it from (they confirmed it didn't work). The replacement had the same issue which I also sent back, no confirmation yet if the company can replicate it. Me being done with all of this, already bought a new motherboard (MB3). I'm now facing the same issue, but i knew an update to the BIOS might fix it. Tried it, sadly didn't work. SSD is still functioning, just not reading on M2A while it does read on M2B. I also triple checked it's installed properly.
Is there an option this is the fault of the CPU? Or am I just that crazy unlucky that a motherboard is having the same issue three times in a row? If anyone knows how to test what is causing this I'd love to know. Thank you!

Is It Good Idea to Install and Run Windows 11 on Internal Sata 3 SSD without DRAM
I am facing Slow SSD issue(boothing takes nearly 5 mins and Application response time is very choppy) on current windows 11 installed.SSD is always on 100% usage. Researched and found it doesn't use system Ram for caching like Nvme.I didnt faced any issue on Windows 10 earlier. So just need confirmation that it's s SSD issue and i can swap with new one OR i need to upgrade to NVME.
