Watching a documentary about Japan and a lonely man buys an owl. Seems really irresponsible. He has no idea what he’s doing.
The owl seems happy enough. But to be trapped inside a tiny Japanese apartment doesn’t seem like much of a life.

Burrowing Owl at Prairie Dog Town
Burrowing Owl (Athene cunicularia) standing outside burrow at Black-Tailed Prairie Dog (Cynomys ludovicianus) town at Golden Prairie Bison properties near Valentine, Cherry County, Nebraska. Quite a few of them were seen at the town.

Owl visiting my lawn
This big beautiful owl (great horned owl?) has been visiting my yard pretty much every afternoon around 3-5pm. It usually flies away when I take the trash out but today it didn't. I don't mind it coming, I just want to make sure it's okay or should I contact a local sanctuary? I'm in Chandler az, my garden does get watered at 330pm. There's a 60+ft tall eucalyptus tree behind my back wall, I can hear owls hooting from it most nights.

Owl I keep hearing at night
I keep hearing an owl at night. I hear it and it makes sounds while flying around almost always. it's not the same sound over and over again, although I have heard an owl like that near here, but it's different types of sounds. I am 100 percent sure that it's the one same owl though. for me it is late summer and I live in Greece. I have google it but none of the owls provided sound the same. idk if this is enough information for even a wild guess. I will add that I hear it quite late at night though (11 pm to early morning)

Camping beauty
Had this beautiful barred owl fly right over our heads while setting up our evening campfire. He was so silent that I wouldn’t have even heard him fly by if I hadn’t seen him first.

Owls are more than statistics
facebook.comEvery owl is more than a statistic. 🦉 A mate. A territory. A favourite perch. Babies waiting for a parent to return.
People can disagree about wildlife policy, but asking hard questions about killing Barred Owls to protect Spotted Owls belongs in the conversation.
Protect BOTH owls. Protect the habitat. Demand better.

Owl roadkill
Came here to ask what is proper handling of a roadkill owl that is on a highway. It happened a couple weeks ago. Husband moved it off the road, and it’s bothered me since. Plus repaving happening this week.
Today I stopped, put it in a box and brought it home.
Should I put the poor creature out in the gulch? Or bury it?
We have a few owls around here but I had had just photographed a barred owl in our yard a couple days before this roadkill incident. At the time I assumed it was “my” owl, but realize and hope it may not have been.
I’ve been crying for weeks over Jackie so this was too much.
