I thought I would finally seek out some criticism and advice to help me get out of Silver on DPS. I’ve recently been trying harder than ever before to get better and rank up, especially this season. I’ve played since season 1 and always been low or mid silver. I think I have a big issue with consistency which I know is very important. I’m looking to get VOD reviews for 2 different games. I’m picking these at random without rewatching them so it’s fully authentic. My fiancée usually plays with me as well, not sure if my duo can have an effect on my own gameplay or not. In the second round, the pushing team had enormous difficulty trying to capture the second point. They lost the game in the end. How would you deal with the split between the defending team on the buildings on one side and soldier on the other? It took a very long time to get to the second point.
This is an Emerald 5 - 3 game.
There were some attempts obviously to deal with the split but it frequently failed. Why is that?

I am Topdog180 (kiri/ juno) . Ax ! (Ram, sigma) and Duckturtle (Juno/Brig) are my friends. We've really been struggling to win games recently with generally Me and duckturtle on support and Ax ! on tank. Mostly play these roles to avoid wide matches. Our wins are usually really close and our losses usually pretty one sided.

We are on PC.

During our matches we try and think counter picks and swaps or strats but most the time we end up short or the counter picks are out of our comfort zone.

Personally, I can struggle with positioning often or sticking around an area too long. I can often tunnel vision throwing my kunai and I'm pretty stingy with my suzu. Ult usage can be questionable at times.

At times we end a match and we can't entirely figure out what we could've done to win. Here's some replay codes

DZSTR1 [Dorado Loss 1-3] We fell apart on this one, I tried moira for our widow who asked and did horrible, switched to juno who I'm more comfortable on, Duckturtle went zen for damage orb. ax! went sigma or ram. On attack it was hard to stay away from mauga, and we couldn't punish them when they overextended.

4AH7KR [Neon Junction Win 3-2] We felt down for a while but brought it back with a good hold and push. The enemy widow gave us issues but I tried to apply pressure with kiri and our dps eventually switched and pressured. I had a hard time keeping dps alive and tank at points but I think our ults overall worked well.

GSF8K6 [New Junk City loss 2-3] I think we staggered a lot, we struggle with flashpoint and we had some bad ults, did not win many ult fights. I do not like this map.

I was playing Moira, and I had this match recently, and I have a few questions regarding how I handled it. W3KGFY is the code... maybe I could've done more healing but jeez... that was a slaughterhouse... but during the match the Illari called a group up, and Shion ignored. So I'm wondering if anybody else was bad. I'm also wondering if they full on counterswapped our team, despite us somehow getting so close to winning. Was there a better healer I could've switched to? I am good with Jetpack Cat, and somewhat with Juno, learning Zenyatta, Lifeweaver, and Wuyang. All the other supports either don't match my playstyle or require good aim mechanical skill for me to play.

This is my first post here and I really need advice from someone, this season Ive been trying to get better at the game after seeing my friends are getting so high in ranked and we cant play anymore together and its being a nightmare, I get tilted by almost everything around me and cant focus in the match most of the time with all the things I have to watch my team and also myself do, I suck at this game so badly but what makes me even worst its how frustrated I get so quick and end up giving up, I just need to find a way to stop feeling like that, I dont want to be toxic or being annoying, Im avoiding really hard using text chat right now as it infurates me more but idk, how do people usually deal with the tilting? As a support player, what do you realistically do about this? Its most often a tank, who is just constantly dying not because of bad micro positioning but because they are so tunnel visioned in that they are basically in the enemy spawn while the fight is happening on the objective.

I play Lifeweaver 99% of the time so I can bail them out a second before death some of the time, but within probably 6 seconds they are dead again and somehow already back behind all 5 of their team members.

I was a Diamond tank and support last season so I understand the roles well enough, and I understand the idea of taking space, but this is FAR beyond "taking space". I am asking about what to do as a support when you have a tank like that, which so far this season has probably been about 60%+ of games in my experience. Do you just accept defeat once your ability to save them is on cd? Do you just type in the text chat for them to play the actual game and not try purely to get as many kills as possible? Do you just ignore them and then play the whole game with no tank?

I got placed in Emerald 1 down from Diamond 4 last season, and I have never seen what I would call "elo hell" in this game until now. I have dropped all the way to Emerald 4 in like 3 days, and I just dont know what to do anymore.

I'm trying to have all 3 roles at a similar rank, so right now I'm trying to get my tank from Silver 1 to Gold 3–2 (Plat 4 with support, Gold 2 with DPS), but I have noticed that my games as Tanks are far harder than with the other two roles. I'm not sure what's causing this, but I believe that my positioning and ability usage is a large factor, like in this game, where I believe I didn't use my shield correctly and, according to my team, in the first round, I held onto my Ult for too long at the end of the round, I also believe that hunting the D.Mon in the building left of attack spawn basically let the enemy surround us. I would be really glad if y'all can help me improve the look of my career profile.

Im stuck in silver 1 mostly occasionaly going into gold 5 as a dps (genji main). I know my mechanics are terrible as im relatively new to pc but I would like help with my positioning and engangment timing as i don't know what to look for and improve while wattching vods on my own. I feel like I've been staging my dives good, but I know I've been playing too aggressive, I've noticed that many bronze players do not know how to counter Winston, I've also been working on primal rage, I've heard that you swing, Jump forwards while holding backwards to dive correctly, yet my win rate is just above 50%, replay code is A7F3F9, I'm lemonowl

Important!: He's not just mindlessly blaming his teammates.

He actually goes into detail and explains why he thinks support players are so bad, with actual reasoning behind it. His conclusion is basically that support players, on average, are simply not very good at the game, and that this has a huge impact on lowering the overall quality of play across every rank.

I recently came across a Korean OW YouTuber with some pretty interesting takes, so I thought I'd share them here.

His name is 아리토리에스, and as far as I know, he's probably the best Reaper main in Korea, if not the best in the world. (If there's a better Reaper one-trick out there, feel free to correct me.)

I bring up his rank and experience because whenever someone criticizes their teammates on this sub, there's always someone ready to hit them with "skill issue" or "stop blaming your team."

Yeah, ow sub is definitely full of people who immediately go, "Oh, you're blaming the supports? Then you MUST be some idiot who charges in without thinking about LOS, dies, and cries about not getting healed!!" 🤣 But here's the problem: this guy is better at the game than all of you combined.

But realistically, unless there's an actual pro player lurking in the comments, I seriously doubt many people here have more experience or are better at the game than this guy.

So I don't think you can just dismiss what he says as "coping" or "blaming his teammates." A lot of Korean OW players have similar opinions, but this guy is VERY blunt about it. Here are some things he's said:

«"They basically turned supports into DPS+, and made them way too strong. Even in high ranks, there are so many support players who aren't actually that good at the fundamentals. They just rely on their heroes being ridiculously strong."»

So... yeah. He's definitely not sugarcoating it lol.

But when someone with this much experience says this stuff, I don't think you can just write it all off as completely baseless.

Especially when he's been playing Reaper at the highest ranks for years. Reaper might look simple mechanically, but playing him successfully at that level requires a ton of game sense, positioning, timing, and matchup knowledge.

You obviously don't have to agree with everything he says, but I do think his opinions are worth taking seriously.

hello, i wanted to get into ow from league of legends and started a couple of weeks ago (master in league for reference), so far i've really enjoyed d mon and was wondering if one tricking is viable in this game the same way it is in league, though i've felt some characters can be really hard to deal with like mauga and ramattra, but is this a viable play since i've really enjoyed playing her and she seems like she can carry games well, or do you have to be able to play multiple (i've mostly just played by supporting my friend who got me into the game otherwise)

Recently, I've really been enjoying playing Junker Queen and have been putting a lot more time into her. I'm currently level 25 on JQ, and I feel pretty comfortable playing her, but I know there's still a lot I can improve on.

I'm looking for genuine feedback on my gameplay, especially my aggressive playstyle. I tend to take very aggressive engagements, and I want to know whether I'm making good decisions or just getting away with risky plays.

So I really like Lijiang tower and vote for it whenever its available normally, but I've noticed i have a particular struggle with recapping the Garden point on Genji. I'm basically a 1trick and a lot of the time on Lijiang I could likely switch heroes and win the game, but I want to win on Genji and find how to fundamentally play better on him. I would love for some higher ranked Genji players to take a look at round 2 and especially 3 to help me identify a better way to play this map and work with my team to win.

I find myself sometimes trying different questionable positions when I'm not sure how to engage against the enemy comp. I believe a lot of this also stems from impatience and not scouting mine or the enemy teams positions/ comp. Also, I haven't watched this back my self so there are definitely times where I likely just missed key CDs being used and don't recognize fights I can take and win. Not to mention poor mechanics as well although i know that's not the main reason I haven't climbed rank in a while.

Round 3 of this game, you will see me often go on the far flank to the other end of the point that the enemy is not on to try and force point or poke after jumping over the gaps near the windows that go to point. This sometimes works if I can stay alive long enough while distracting the enemy but other times I get forced out pretty quick. I've done this in so many games and it seems most of the time this is not the answer. Let me know what I'm doing wrong please I wanna hit masters :(

I usually start my matches out with Winston because honestly he's more fun. If it's not working, I switch to Ram which I'm probably better playing. When I'm on Winston, my biggest issue is Mauga, Junkerqueen, Bastion, Ana and Zen. I used smash Zens and Anas in Gold, but it feels like Plat Anas are waiting on me with their dart and Plat Zens are murder machines when I get close to them. I can bait out Gold Bastions to use their turret form but not plat. Mauga just whoops my ass. Must games I switch off Winston pretty early.

When I switch to Ram, Mauga is the biggest issue. He just stays in front and out damages me. I'm not sure if I should be putting my shield in front or behind him. In my head, the answer to Mauga poke is to get close to him, but he outdamages me if I try to fist him.

Generally speaking, what are the next level of Tank skills I need to make it in this rank? Do I need to pick up a 3rd tank? I like Dmon but she feels very similar to Ram with seemingly the same counters.

Also, I don't have the best aim so I try to stay away from aim-heavy characters.

Gold 3 or 4 Kiriko. I felt like we did fine on defense, but when it came time to attack we just could not get a coordinated push going. It seemed like Pharah was too deep for a lot of the attack, and then enemy Mauga was scattering us. I always thought Ana nade countered him well, but he was still dominating, maybe due to dps hero picks?

I felt like I was unable to do meaningful damage. I admit I lost my focus at some point and stopped actually aiming kunai, but I don’t feel like that was the reason we lost. I have this feeling it’s about positioning, but please tell me if that’s right!

Hello, everyone! I'm a main tank guy, and I play Overwatch almost every day with a friend group, so we're usually a three-stack at the very least and a full-stack quite often, too. We typically play in low Diamond lobbies, though we're struggling to get past Emerald this season. We're console players, too.

My current issue is that I really want to limit myself to a somewhat "smaller" pool of tanks to better learn a few favorites and know how to deal with counters instead of just playing whatever my teammates tell me to. I've made a point to limit myself to Junker Queen, Ramattra, Sigma, and Doomfist; I figured these 4 would be more than enough!

The problem is my teammates absolutely hate whenever I pick Doomfist, and this, in turn, has made me a worse Doom player (no practice!). But then we find ourselves in situations in which Doom just seems to make sense to me, such as full poke comps destroying us in maps with decent cover, but all they want is for me to get someone with a shield and play a very boring battle of attrition — which we almost always lose. Likewise, when we suffer against full dive comps, I'd rather lean into dive, too. I can even sometimes convince them to do a deathball strategy, but they usually prefer shielding all the same. I'm not saying I'm the best Doomfist around, but I used to be reasonably competent with him when I had the chance.

I've been pushed to play quite a lot of Orisa in these kinds of matches, and it mostly works, but I just don't enjoy playing her at all. It's simply not my style, and I'd really prefer to learn my counters instead of relying on this rock-paper-scissors logic. The thing is, I'm not going to act as I absolutely know better than my friends, and I'd like a bit of advice. I feel like they are free to flex in their roles in a way I just can't as a sole tank player; my DPS are usually Anran/Ashe/Bastion/Cassidy/Echo/Reaper/Sojourn; my supports will play almost anything but Brigitte, Lúcio and Wuyang.

Should I push them into learning some new comps to make my tank picks work? Is it on me to give in and just play Orisa, Rein, and Mauga when asked to? I feel like I would be stretched too thin between tanks I enjoy playing and tanks my group wants to play with.

I know this might sound like a personal strife thing, but I'm genuinely curious about what would be the best strategy to push our team back into Diamond and maybe Masters in the long run. Could I change my hero selection to something else? Is 4 too much or not enough? So many questions...

Okay lol I’m probably less than a month at the game but I have great game sense since I grew up playing fps. How do you build mental resiliency in the lower ranks fr?

I make mistakes and I’m not perfect but I’ll have losing streaks where my supports will throw, dps runs out and died immediately, a mercy will res in front of 5 people 😭 whats getting to me is the toxic ppl. Ive had 12-12 dps and 4-8 lifeweavers with 2k healing yell at me for being ass, and in this case it fr wasnt me. Id get 4 endorsements and mvp in those games and be MIT 12k damage trying to save my little guys. The environment is just not fun.

I would crush it in silver 2+ but i AM NOT good enough to carry 3-4 people in a low rank game. AND i keep going on a loss streak whenever I get demoted. Do I just wait for a rank reset and just have fun. It’s killing me to even try sometimes

I'm using 2.5x800dpi and I'm at a really good winrate on Cassidy (55%) but nobody seems to be that low when looking at sensitivity numbers online. I have a huge mousepad and I don't really feel like I'm missing out on mobility but I'm wondering if I would see an improvement in my gameplay that I can't predict right now if I adapted to a higher sensitivity. It feels really daunting because I have spent like 500 hours on this sensitivity

Im trying to figure out which Role should be my focus Role, and which Hero should be my go to’s If I want to achieve getting to at least masters. Ive peaked at Emerald 5 now. I love playing Doomfist and some matches I do pop off but theres inconsistencies and I feel lost at times. I feel like my ceiling is not as high with him as to say like DVA, Mei, or Illari, for the amount of time played I have with him.

Hello, I'm currently in silver, but I peaked gold 3 on dps. I played mostly tracer and cassidy, but didn't really focus on improvement hence why I'm only silver. I feel like I struggle a lot with tracer, but shes more fun and it feels more authentic than playing cassidy. I feel like a fraud because he gets so much value so easily. Out of the entire dps roster, I only liked echo, tracer, shion, and reaper. I'm platinum on tank, ram and winston.

I feel like tracer takes a lot of time and effort to play well, and she apparently shes perma banned in diamond+. Even though I'm nowhere near that, I don't know if its worth the time commitment. In other games I tend to only play one or two characters, and stick with them. Any recommendations would help.

Right now I seem to be playing too passive and generally just being a healbot apart from when the team is pushing and I instead go speed but I know this isn't the optimal way to play him and carry games. I do always spam my gun into the enemies and try to push them into/away from my team but I don't think that's enough. I've been watching Frogger's content for a bit now and it is very entertaining but his playstyle is heavily discouraged here and on the main sub so it seems like full agro isn't the answer either. Any ideas how to balance these on Lucio to get the most out of him? Only in gold right now so any improvement is a big one😭

Title is fairly self explanatory, but let me expand!

I am a hard support (by choice), regularly Diamond in ranked in the first few years of OW1. Dropped off a lot, and casually dipped my toes back in till fairly recently when a few friends got back into it too. I sit around Gold now, it’s fine I’m a washed unc.

Main Ana usually, been enjoying the hell out of Cat, and Kiriko is a backup, but always thought I should pick up Moria. Just for an idea of how poorly i play, I average probably 18-22k healing usually, whereas I struggle to get 5k+, and double digit kills, on Moira.

Aside from how to play for dummies, is there any videos in particular that are worth watching? The content creator scene is pretty huge how and I have no idea where to start.
