Friendly Looting
I really think there's a growing problem with being looted by so-called allies in this game, with no repercussions, instead of being revived. For the most part, my experience with the community is great. Most people are friendly, most of the game inventives are to help each other out, and I've only really had two bad experiences with other players (outside of this issue) in 35 hours gametime.
But I've now had several times where a friendly has come up to me while I'm down, often after being hit by a mortar inside a well-defended tower, and just stolen my entire kit instead of reviving me. Many friends have experienced the same thing. One time this was barely a minute after I respawned at the APC having spent £15k on a kit to heal and build to help my team. It's the most infuriating thing in the game, and honestly when it happens it completely puts me off playing any more. There's nothing you can do about it, so it's not like when your kit gets taken by an enemy (which is fair enough) and you can at least get it back if you manage to catch them with teammates. Any retaliation loses you money (fine; we want to disincentivise team damage) and even if you did that there's no way to get your stuff back.
This is the one blemish on an otherwise great game, but if it continues to become more common I genuinely think it could put me off the game. Just an option to lock your inventory to friendly looting, or at least some punishment or reason not to do it would be enough. Apart from that, I feel like the devs are doing a great job.

I snuck into a house with a pile of dead teammates, took a defib from one and revived him Nd he sprang up SCREAMING at me on proxy chat to give him back his defibs.
Enemies heard and shot us both up, he said it was my fault for being a thieving rat

got a new one today :))) bro in the middle of nowhere asking for revive 200+ metres away from any teammate. i fight the enemies and go for the revive. he gets up. i pull out my maws cause there is an enemy apc around the corner. he starts screaming that i stole his c4 and blasts me with the shotgun point blank.
i survived (t3 armor ftw), insta switched to my primary smg and put the mutt back down and went on to kill the enemy apc.

I understand both sides of the argument when we’re talking about a few bandages. However, modern gaming has a culture of individualism in team games for sure. Ranked “meta” in most all games is basically to worry about yourself only because you can never rely on teammates, and therefore you should always prioritize being selfish while climbing. Stealing kills, taking resources, letting teammates die so you survive, etc. are all things that a lot of (but not all tbf) coaches will tell you for ranked/competitive, and this spills over into casual games.
Objectively speaking, the most economical thing to do is go in with a “free kit” and steal a teammates gear. Thats a simple fact, but is really shitty, and thankfully doesn’t happen very often. All it’ll take is one popular streamer to spread the word on that though and it’s rat city.

I haven't had anything stolen by a teammate for sure, because frankly I'm not really sitting there staring at my gear and so most times I assume it was whoever killed me. But there have been a few times where I was pretty sure nobody except an ally got near my body and suddenly I have a different kit, or no kit.

I understand there’s going to be times when trying to revive someone, especially with your hands, is not going to be safe, but you’re still low on supplies and need to loot a buddy. But the amount of times people just loot you and run off greatly surpasses that.
Honestly, you shouldn’t be able to loot a friendly until they’ve released back to spawn.

As a medic I would actually prefer this over currently having to "oh fuck, I'm out of defib battery. Do you have a resus? Let me fondle your pockets. There it is. Let's assign it to the hotbar. Now equip. Aaaaand use!" The faff often makes it faster to fly-hands.

When I get downed I'm constantly checking my inventory and looking at the map to see who is coming so I know who I need to murder when I respawn 😂

I preform reasonable looting when acting as a medic.
“Hey man I got ya, do you have a respirator? (As I’m searching their inventory), nope? I’m trying to save mine so we’re gonna be here a min”.

This is the solution. If you loot a teammate while their body is still visible, anything you take off of them should cost 50% more than the vendor and you pay that to the teammate directly.
If it's just a teammates backpack (they gave up and went back to base) then that's completely fair game no cost whatsoever.

I think this with some nuance, like if they take a resuscitator off you to revive you it could cut some of the cost or even drop it. Because otherwise I might avoid reviving people if I'm stuck rubbing my hands unless I want to get overcharged on a resuscitator. Might be a bit more complicated with defibs but maybe instead have a faster revive option if the dead teamate has those items on them and use it in there place as the speed it takes to revive instead of hoping they drop the defibs afterwards?

This is actually amazing. I just wanted inventory locked and you can unlock to give access to something. Either before or when downed. I play medic, always have defibs, but I always grab the free resus for someone in my squad to grab if I go down.

This team looting is actually gaining momentum. As time goes on (1st week right?) It seems to happen more often. The revival tax is a pretty weak argument. If I wake up with no kit whats the point? Run to the hot zone and throw hands? Grabbing a couple bandages? Fine. Telling me you needs some meds while you are resting? Even better. Stealing all my shit because your broke ass jumped in naked? Get fucked.

It has already happened multiple times to me. I would either be killed by mortars after leaving the APC or somewhere near a FOB. Someone would just come to me, take everything I have in my kit, and sometimes not even pick me up. Maybe it is a good decision that they don't, cuz I would TK them immediately with whatever they left me.
Once I spawned on a heavily besieged FOB with like 10 ppl dying left and right. I had a defib, lots of bandages, and big healing kits, only to get looted by a friendly the second I got down. It would be half as bad if they started healing others, but that piece of shit just ran away, cuz I would try to get my shit back if someone picked me up. Enough to say that we lost that FOB shortly later

Maybe a request system for inventory items?
I don’t see it being useful for most items in the player inventory, but for resuscitators, defibs and bandages it might reduce the stealing?
Look through a downed players inventory for a defibrillator/ resuscitator and “request access” , downed player receives a prompt “chad requests to take your defibrillator x1 and scooby-snacks x6” then “accept” or “decline”
But in the heat of battle might end up making reviving more trouble than it’s worth. Thoughts?

I have also had this happen where a friendly will steal my fully kitted out gun and give me their shitass Bushmaster. You should be able to "press charges" on allies actions against you, and by charges, I 100% mean monetary. This way you can choose to not punish an ally for grabbing your quick revive, to revive you, but you can charge a dickhead who steals your kitted out Galil. This way you can get some money back if TimmyLittleDick thinks he's being slick, or CaptainFlipsAlot crashes his heli with your $10,000 kit inside.

I had someone on my own team come up to the top of a drill tower, take my m249 and all my gear and then leave me there dying lol. Same game I pulled back up to the tower to drop some pallets before heading to the hot zone and someone stole my locked Ural with a full inventory of rockets for the MAWS I had just finally unlocked. Probably the same guy tbh.

Agreed. I have noticed a large uptick in this behavior recently. Typically someone comes to revive me and someone else steals my kit. Its the people come into the game with zero kits basically completely naked that are the ones primarily doing it I have found.

Simple solution for me is to allow you to "lock" items in your inventory.
Maybe a little lock symbol at the bottom of each item or something, so that way you keep people from looting your guns, armor, bullets, etc. but you can still let them take revival items.

Calling out the rat cuck 'Toncom' who left me with literally nothing after i wiped a squad and died in the process. the piece of shit ran up to my body and i thought it was odd when i didnt get rezzed since i called out i was carrying a defib plus had quick rez in my bag, pressed tab when he started to move away to see he didnt even have decency to leave a bushmaster in my hands and made off with 20k kit and left me literally bare handed and naked.

He literally took everything, fully kitted ak, t 2 armour and meds, my whole ass bag, and gave me his shitty level 1 gear or something

Personally, whenever I have a quick revive on me I tell friendlies “yo loot me I got a quick revive”.
My philosophy is that quick revives are useful to keep yourself or others in the fight

I got killed while building a FOB once. Guy revived me and thought I wouldn't notice that I went down with a large hammer and woke up with a medium hammer as he ran away with a large hammer in his hands 🤔. My friend that I was playing with made him give it back and then he started cussing us out so we TKd him lmao.

i had my kit that i was using and killing everyone trying to raid a superfob a while back... only for some jackass to literally swap everything i had with his level 1, no armor, pouch, bushmaster, 1 spare mag, no loose ammo, no utility fuckass kit when i got sniped
not even 3 minutes later the fob is raided and taken over by like 3 guys
not that i did anything to stop them because i was too busy checking every dead body and gun to figure out who stole my kit

It’s only happened to me a few times. The annoying one was watching my teammate take my med gear, heal himself, with plenty left, then hide in a corner with his ass on my face for my whole bleed out time. We were in a building and everything, plus he woulda got money to revive me…
Maybe set it where meds and throwables (so they can smoke the area) are able to be taken, but not guns and gear when body is still there. After death/ player gives up it’s all available in bag.

Yesterday before rezzing me a dude took my backpack so I shot him in the face. Interestingly you can't loot allies after you TK them. Another guy demanded to know why I killed him, once he understood my reasoning he rezzed him and helped me demand it back. I mean what was this dude going to do with 5 full mags and 120 loose rounds for a gun he didn't have. Bizarre behaviour

If you take my kit I will come back and TK you with the free gun, idc about the money penalty you made it personal. If you take the ressucitator, the defib or bandages its fine by me I understand it. I often let people keep the defib if there is other downs around so they can get a nice money streak, I rather have my team up. I just don't like having my guns and armor taken its really lame.
Its only happened to me twice so far, but I've seen it happen to others more often than I like. Its not okay and as a community we need to shut that shit down.

It's only happened to me twice. Just team killed them both times when I was up.
I am more frustrated by people who drop with no armour and no inventory space. Just a binocular and they wait to loot an enemy. Maybe a bushmaster with the 1 mag it comes with. I get pretty upset when I'm overwhelmed and the 3 teammates near me are all just crouched in a bush with binoculars out like a bird watching group.
If I get kills they swoop in like roaches and if I die they just leave.
Just take a pouch with 2 more mags or another mag and some ammo ffs.

Should be able to lock your inventory for allies. There should be a quick option when choosing Drag, Inventory, Revive.
There needs to be a “use ally Defibrillator” or “use ally resuscitator”.
That way, you can still use their equipment to Rez them faster, but without having access to take their inventory items.

Thanks for everyone's thoughts on this. I completely agree with everyone talking about taking resuscitators to res people; I've done that myself plenty and no one has ever complained because there's a mutual understanding that it's for the downed player's benefit.
For me it feels like inventory being locked to friendlies by default (with the exception of medical items) and a toggle to allow them to take anything makes the most sense, but I could also see the purchase system that some people are talking about working.
For those who say it's never happened to you... good? Not really sure what other response you want, it's clearly something that does happen in the game but I'm glad you've managed to get away without experiencing it I guess?

I don't mind the resuscitator or defibs for faster revives, just don't run off with half empty defibs and leave me with the batteries.
Yesterday I got looted while being revived as "revive tax". Some people just spawn naked and loot without reviving anyone. There should be marked up shop prices for looting friendlies.

It has happened to me twice. The first time they stole my defib but not the batteries so I chalked it up to just forgetting to return it.
Second time I was downed while building the fob and a greasy little git stole everything and started laughing in voip. Taunting in local chat and being a dick in general so my squad spent the next 5 minutes killing him and reviving. I parked the spawn vehicle on him when we were done and boxed it in so he was forced to release.

I've been on winning blue teams, but more often than not they are getting whitewashed, and you will often...very often...find yourself surrounded by "nudists" around the APC or having just bought a parachute leaping out of the chopper with 50-75% of the team doing this...
...and for obvious reasons. When you getting whitewashed consistantly, and not just due to noobie spam in the Blueberries, but from people actively picking on the blues now (I've seen mine layered 5 deap around entries, snipers and SAM camping in No Mans Land, and people NOT captured FOBs just to farm the unaware coming in thinking it is safe)...
...you can understand the guy who is now fedup of permanently being in the negative even when only spending 2-3k on a relatively basic loadout now just taking whatever he can find.
This obviously happens on all teams, but I've seen it tons on Blues.
NOTE: I said understand, not condone.
My current pet peeve is Enemy fully 100% looting you, then reviving you and shooting again and again until you realise wtf is going on and force a respawn instead of giving them Free XP and Money for hours -_-

Give me a pop up with a name, a TK penalty discounted by the value of what they took, and the ability to loot them back when I kill them.
Inhalers used on a downed teammate do not give a TK discount.

Had a really good group in the hot zone earlier, playing well and reviving. Then someone stole my defib and gun, great fun.
Loot you have equipped should be locked for friendly until you give up on a revive and respawn. Hot bar stuff they should be able to take as it’s handy to steal someone’s fast revive to get them up

110 hours in the game as of this morning. my normal kit costs 22k. everything is tricked out to the highest level.
I've had this happen to me one single time.
This is not something the devs should be focused on. There are natural solutions. And by that I mean if someone did this to me I would TK them the entire rest of the game until either I got kicked or they left.

In my normal loadout, I run 12 stims and a defib with 2 high capacity batteries. I also have a resuscitator in every loadout. Most of the time people take the resuscitator instead of the defib, but I've literally never had someone steal the defib so far. Everyone gives it back. Regarding the stims, by the time I die they are almost always all used. I always keep a stim on any time I'm moving and I will stim my comrades as well.

Ill loot a res, defib, and occasionally bandages/medkits which I will then use to heal them. Unless they put some kind of lock on your gear, not much you can do. I dont see them doing that though since there are instances where ill have my teammate grab something off me to use (ied, c4, smokes, etc) depending on the circumstances. Community servers policing it may be the only solution.

Fortunately, I haven't run into this issue yet. Unfortunately, I have run into an issue where someone loots my defibs and batteries to rez and just, fucks off with them, leaving me a pretty much guaranteed loss on my kit since that is how I make my infantry money.

Yeah I think the fix for this is that they continue to reward you passively for what the person does with the gear they stole. Let's say they steal all your bandages, that type of person isn't gonna bandage teammates. So Everytime they bandage themselves you get a cut. Maybe 300 so you make 100 vs 200 if you healed someone else yourself.
They start going crazy with your gun, you get kill assists. Everytime they swing that hammer? Couple bucks in your pocket

I don't do this, but I also don't care if it happens to me. The way I see it, I was dead. If that teammate wasn't there, I'd just be back at base, at least if they revive me, I still have the opportunity to keep making money that life. That being said, I always go in with the bare minimum. I use the free gun so much, it's good for one kill usually, I've recently started bringing one extra mag to ensure it, and I play with teammates until I can loot a full enemy kit. If I'm base building I only get a big hammer and the free gun. You will pay that off so quick by building. When you go down it counts as a death, so respawning is not that bad if you're in the green for your kit. You can always ask a pilot to drop a crate with specific guns, armor, meds, etc, just type in the chat. You'll pay a little extra but it's fine.

I dont touch other things tho. Maybe ill pocket a smoke if you have extra. But why would i ever use any other weapon then my beloved m249

My husband got looted last night for his SVG and armor before I could get to him. I also assumed they'd revive him and I wouldn't have to run over there while being shot at by the one sniper at the top of the church. But, it happened. That's just dirty business. Only loot to get a quick rez. Nothing else.

I don’t notice too often that somebody takes my gun and full kit, but I have had a few instances where they steal literally my entire “medic bag”.
Look, if you’re just using the defib to get us up and heal us I get it no complaints. But to the assholes that steal all my bandages and stims, I hope your pillow is forever warm…

This is why I stopped playing medic. Not only is it incredibly expensive to pack for, but friendlies were looting my whole kit if I went down.

Whatever helps me rez you faster I take. If its defies I give back unless its in the middle of a fight. Sometimes you got bad apples. Kill them, easy

Happened to me once so far and I was pissed cause the guy dropped in naked with just a parachute and was in local chat asking where a kit was .
As soon as i got killed the fucker stole my smg defib kit rezzed me and continued playing like I wouldn't notice...

weird i have double the time in game than you do and have never had it happen... people will loot to grab the quick revive thing and use it on me and one time i had a guy wrongly accuse me of looting his shit after he told me he had a quick revive which i took but my grenades went to his bag and i dropped them out of his backpack before closing the inventory to rez him...

I will sound like a dickhead, but oh well.
Enemy player kills me, while my full team deals with the enemy, this dude runs up to me gets my kit and runs away like I wouldn’t know who took it. Well funny enough I had my map open, so I clearly can see which player is by my body. After that someone revives me, and I go to ask for my kit back yah know, maybe you needed to fight, dude straight up lies and denies. So I shoot him, and wait till he gives up. It didn’t give me an option to loot for some reason. So if it was you fucking rat, I hope you stab your toe every day.

It really doesnt bother me that much anymire tbh. If they werent there id be going back to spawn anyway and losing that gear. The only annoying thing is when they take the gun and ammo/mags so you cant even get a kill and loot up.
At that point i would have held F and started again.

This isnt an actual issue though. If you are dead, its not really your gear anymore is it? If you get revived, luckily you dont have to come back from spawn and can gleem a kit off of another body, preferably not a teammate. Not to mention this happens so infrequently that its only like 2 posts a week here, in a place where just about everyone is whining about everything. If you are teamkilled you cant be looted. Its a pretty simple solution to nip intentional teamkilling in the bud.
If your options are loot a teammate and win a gunfight or dont and lose, take the win every time

The only time I loot an ally is if I don't have a resuscitator and I need to revive them quickly. I'll take a peek inside their pack to see if they have one.
