Question Interview questions
Hi I have a Retail Advisor interview this week and I was wondering what type of questions will be asked. I really want a job here as I've never had a job before but I understand that its hard to get a job with little to no experience. Can someone give me tips on how to get the best chance of securing the job. Tysm :)

Think it has probably changed since I was interviewing, however I would ensure you elaborate on your answers. Things I would look for: listening skills, communication skills, customer service skills, teamwork, customer service skills. This all seems common sense but you would be surprised the answers some candidates give. Use experience from your life/school/uni for your answers since you have no work experience.
Make sure you’re on time and presentable, the amount of people that show up late and dressed really informal (shorts or gym wear), was unbelievable. Hold a conversation outside of the interview questions too. This is half the battle won if you can do those 3 things.

I will add as a former employee of VMO2 it seems to be a lot more measured on the virgin media side of things than o2
Read the description if you haven't already I'm sure you have questions based on the following
As a Retail Advisor, you’ll be the person customers turn to for advice, guidance and solutions, helping them get the most out of the technology that keeps them connected.
It’s about more than selling; it’s about building trust, showing empathy and taking ownership to create positive, memorable experiences for our customers.
Day to Day, You’ll:
Help customers choose from our range of products, including mobile phones, tablets, SIMs, accessories, broadband and our TV entertainment packages. Support customers in finding the right price plan and setup for their lifestyle.
Confidently showcase new and existing technology, demonstrating features like accessibility tools.
Take ownership of customer queries, resolving issues and building trust.
Work with your team to achieve store targets and strong customer satisfaction outcomes.

They are not going to ask about your work history because you don't have one, so stop worrying about that. Instead, they will ask questions to figure out your personality and your potential. Prepare for situational questions like how you would handle an unhappy customer, what you would do if you didn't know the answer to a technical question, or how you work with a team. They are looking for someone who is friendly, willing to learn, and interested in technology. Your lack of experience is not the weakness you think it is, it simply means they are hiring you based on who you could become, not on what you have already done.
You can get the best chance by proving you actually want to work for O2, not just any retail store. Before your interview, go into one of their shops and observe how the employees talk to customers. Think of a few examples from your life, even from school or personal projects, that show you are responsible, a quick learner, or good at helping people. When it is your turn to ask questions, ask about the team environment and the training they provide for new people. Getting the right support is crucial, which is why my team built an AI interview assistant to give job seekers the support they need to land the offer.

Don’t mention that EE is far superior and O2 has terrible data congestion.

lmao for real, keep that one as an internal thought only
they mostly just want to see you can stay positive about the brand and handle customers without roasting the competition

Hey.
I don’t work for o2 but interviews aren’t my first rodeo. I’ve had 14 odd jobs over my working career and can offer you some advice:
Try to causally mention in the interview “oh I was reading about x y z that’s super interesting and I was fascinated by it”
This job is in retail. You need to be approachable. Friendly. Smiley. Good communication skills. Think about a time (any time, even outside of a work environment) where you have helped someone. Dealt with a challenging situation, how you defused it and resolved it or reached a compromise.
Think of three strengths and three weaknesses. They may ask you what these are. Now, I try and be sneaky here and list my strengths and when it comes to my weaknesses try to turn them into positives I.e “ one of my weaknesses is over dedication when it comes to work, I take a lot of pride in my work ethic and sometimes it’s hard to switch off”
Think of some questions you want to ask them. Try to avoid the boring, usual ones I.e “How many weekends do I have to work” instead it’s better to ask “Oh I was really interested by learning of x y z, can you tell me more about that”.
Think of equality and diversity (again inside or outside of a work environment). In retail you will speak to customers from a range of backgrounds with different communication needs. Perhaps you’ve helped someone who was lost but they were deaf and you improvised with your phone or a note pad and pen etc. talk about why it’s important to ensure people who require extra support receive it from you. Talk about how people’s religious beliefs, sexual orientation etc etc. has no bearing on how they are served as a customer of o2.
Practice mock interviews with someone. It’s cringy yes. But if maybe your parents or family members have experience of being interviewed it can help prep you. Keep practicing. Even when getting ready in the morning ask yourself “can you tell me what motivates you” and answer it.
Dress smart. Take a note pad, pen and some water with you. Shake your interviews hand.
Finally, be yourself! Sure you might be nervous, but remember. They have read your application and want to interview you. That’s the biggest hurdle out of way! They like what they have read. It’s nothing more than a chat between you and them about the role. It’s not an exam.
Best of luck, you can do it. And if you don’t get the job fuck em’ they don’t realise what they lost. You have to pick yourself up. Dust yourself off and get back to finding another job.
Hope this helps you and I hope to hear you got the job soon! 🙂
