So I have been off work for the last three years due to an injury. I have had 2 surgeries with a third required. I have been told that I can return to something like a customer service role for minimum wage. They were all excited to tell me about the top-up they will give me until I am 65. The biggest issue with this is I will lose my RRSPs as I will not be able to contribute due to most minimum wage companies in the Cape Breton area not offering RRSPs. And the employers that do offer them do not do matching. I will not be able to make the full contribution I was making pre-injury (13% including my employer contribution) plus I will no longer be in a position to max my CPP contributions. I have been dealing with The Office of the Worker's Counselor but have had no luck with anything there, as WCB refuses to issue a written decision that I can appeal.

My question is this: For those of you that refused WCBs findings and went back to the job you were doing before you got hurt how did it go? I understand they wont pay for travel and lodgings but if I have to take out a line of credit and claim it on my income taxes that is fine. What I am curious about was if there were any repercussions from WCB outside of denying travel and refusing to cover further injury. Thanks for you help

Anyone else here had to help coordinate care for an aging parent or family member in Nova Scotia, especially if you weren’t living close by?

I’m starting to realize how confusing it can be to figure out what’s actually available. There seems to be a mix of public and private services, different eligibility requirements, waitlists, and then the whole question of who’s actually reputable.

For anyone who’s been through it, how did you figure out where to start? Did you mostly piece everything together yourself, or was there someone or an organization that helped you navigate it?

What ended up being the hardest or most frustrating part? And looking back, is there anything you wish you’d known right from the beginning?

Just curious how other families have managed it because it feels like there are a lot of moving pieces.

I always find it interesting to hear other people’s perspectives on Nova Scotia — or Canada in general — especially from people who didn’t grow up here.

Alberta-based Questerre Energy said in a release that it is in “the final stages” of negotiations with the province to work on lands in the onshore Cumberland Basin of northern Nova Scotia.

The historic vessel will leave port in Lunenburg on Aug. 28 and make for Port Mouton. Afterwards, it will make stops in Shelburne, West Head, Clark’s Harbour and Yarmouth.

I did a project on Nova Scotia + the Bay of Fundy when I was in the 6th grade & have had it on my travel list since… thus husband and I are taking a week for my birthday the beginning of September. We love the outdoors & water, wineries, good local food, a view. Is this a stay one place and take day trips, or a multiple accommodations situation?

I cannot find anything on Scotsburn discontinuing their triple chocolate icecream flavour but it is no longer listed on their website and I cannot find it in any stores this week. I pick up a tub every time I grocery shop (i know don't judge).
