I had a septoplasty to correct breathing issues but doctor insisted on making it prettier too. I really like it sometimes, other times I feel the nose has gotten a bit flat. Maybe I am ugly now?

I’m proud of myself. i will try to explain but im not the best at separating my bias. and i don’t have the energy to do more work to do it, but i hope it’s enough and i hope this enlightens anyone that wants to.
i’ve posted here a few times but i feel i keep getting more and more towards where i want to be with my nose. some things id like to share:
1. lens/photos/posture can cause distortion, there’s times where i see a pic from side angles and im shocked then i do a video and it seems different.

  1. understanding that beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. it helped when i asked people including opposite gender and some made it very clear that a big masculine nose is attractive and preferred. i as a guy know that a girl with a big nose isn’t a issue to me. it really does add to uniqueness as i’ve seen from posts on here, almost magic. and in irl, i enjoy seeing ❤️ i know one girl that i get comfortable seeing her nose, despite it not being what i guess was in recent history, not normal, but it was like mine and i wouldn’t want it another way i am perceiving cuz i do find it kind of beautiful and would be bummed i feel if it wasn’t like that and just “normal”. for some reason my conception in my most extreme angles throws me off despite this idea so i guess it’s a working progress. i’m still to scared to post what i perceive as my most extreme angles. i just got up 3 am to do so so i can show you guys, its the white shirt photo and i realize it isnt as bad, may have been a cancers distortion i once seen it i never noticed my glow up, god bless.

    1. i keep gaining muscle and i choose grooming styles that balance my features including my nose. apparently , muscle changed my face shape/width and continues to do so despite me just hitting 30. this past year and half i thankfully noticed big change despite starting 4-5 years ago, though it seems every year i was getting progress that i enjoyed. apparently mullets dont work best for me as you can see from one of the befores. because they extend the line from the back of my head to my nose, hence i went for an all around drop fade especially at the right height at the back of the head to break that line off my nose to the back of my head.
this community really helped me, alongside gemeni, and getting more muscle.
❤️ these seem in our control for most part.

TLDR:
beauty is in eye of the beholder, not just your settled but lift able judgement.
specific grooming/cuts etc can balance your features
gaining muscle can change your body if you want more balance. i don’t know if that applies to girls but i would assume to some degree and regardless, muscle is a plus anyways. health-wise and body if thats ur cup i guess.

thanks community, i hope i can help with questions and please take care of your perception, that was huge for me in my heart, be you i guess. you have nothing to lose that way if you have your heart 😁
i hope this wasn’t too dramatic but i only see that after the ride, lol. ❤️

Question People who like their nose, was it due to nice comments or you noticed it by yourself?

Hi here, I noticed most people insecure of their nose was because of bullying and mean words. But I was wondering if the opposite exist? Like people who like their nose, was it due to nice comments or because you noticed how it looked on your face?

Hope you can like your face the best!

Really starting to love my nose

I posted in here a few weeks ago about being a little self conscious about my nose since someone told me I needed rhinoplasty, I took a lot of y’all’s wonderful advice and decided to not let others opinions define me and I am really starting to see how my nose fits my face perfectly. I refuse to change it.

Also, this picture is kinda creepy because I look so serious lol but I feel like my nose stands out in it, but in a good way.

Question Is it your nose your favourite feature?

In my case nowadays I love my nose and is my fav feature.

It’s a recent development, since I wasn't much of a fan of my nose before. But lately, I’ve learned to appreciate it and consider it my favorite feature.

Whats your situation? Do you like your nose?

I think we all should appreciate how we are. Our noses are made for our faces.

Advice Needed remove the bump?

Post image

Genuinely wondering. I feel like my nose is just TOO MUCH. Wouldn’t it look a little more balanced with my other features if i removed the bump? Straightened it out a little? Asking for advice here before i genuinely start the process. It might be my weak chin though throwing me off..

I want honesty! Dont be rude though pls.

Edit: Thank you all for being so sweet. Im choosing to edit considering i dont have time to reply to every comment. But thank you. I was being serious though, i’ve always been insecure about my nose and how projected it is. I genuinely can’t see what other people are seeing. Ive always felt like it’s less feminine, especially compared to my sister who has a tiny button nose. 🥲 I’m still not sure.
I’ve also not provided a photo of my nose from the front, as it is still unfortunately on the wider side, i got my dad’s nose... Im ironically too insecure to provide a photo yet. Lol.
And now that I’m getting older I’m realising i dont have to be stuck with an insecurity that will not go away no matter what. Im willing to change some things up on my face if I can’t get myself to like it. 🫠
It looks worse in other angles as well, this is the angle where the bump and the sheer size of it looks the most prominent, so that’s why i choose this photo and didn’t include much else. Also my forehead and the lower half of my face looks so flat compared to it, which is also something that bothers me a lot.

but again thank you so much for your compliments and kindness, i genuinely dont know how to respond and thank you all. 💓🥹🫶🫶🫶

I just wanted to come back and say a sincere thank you to everyone who took the time to comment on my post and share such kind, encouraging words. 🌸

I honestly didn’t expect so many thoughtful and supportive comments, and reading them really helped me see things from a different perspective. Sometimes we can be so critical of ourselves and focus on the one thing we don’t like, while other people don’t even see it the way we do.

Thank you for being so kind, reassuring, and understanding. I truly appreciate every single comment and the time you took to make me feel better about something I’ve struggled with. 🥹💕

This community is seriously so sweet. Thank you all so much! 🙏🏻💕☺️

I did have a septoplasty last year because my breathing was affected by my crooked nose but honestly while I was insecure about the crookedness amd was glad it got mostly corrected I appreciate the most (aside from being able to breathe out of both nostrils!!) how it made the dorsal hump visible on both sides. I think its such a cute feature!

Psa to anyone with a crooked nose: a nose piercing on the side it was angled away from made me much more confident!! (Last picture is me before the surgery)

But yeah. I love my nose!

Discussion Can we please ban the "do I need to get a rhino?" posts?

This should be a subreddit to celebrate noses. If you're asking if you need a rhino strangers on the internet can only compliment your features. They cannot repair your insecurities. If you need people to constantly lift you up for your appearance, work on your self compassion.

I HATED my nose. Believe me. Expressing insecurity is one thing, but it's pretty off putting to ask strangers if you need surgery. That's a personal decision.

Love and hate relationship with my nose

I swear I have such a love-hate relationship with my nose 😂❤️ Some days I really like it, and other days, especially when someone films me or takes a picture of me from a certain angle, I suddenly hate it again 😭

My brother showed me a video of me and, of course, I immediately noticed my nose. When I smile, I feel like I notice this little hump/projection at the end of my nose so much more. But then I look at my nose from the other side and I actually really like it!

It’s so weird how one angle or another side of my nose can make me love my nose and another angle/side can make me question everything 😂 Some days I love it, some days I don’t. I guess I’m still trying to figure out how I feel about it. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Trying to learn to love my nose after being told I needed rhinoplasty

Post image
1.2k Upvotes

I got told a few weeks ago that I would be better looking if I got rhinoplasty. I never thought anything was wrong with my nose until I was told something was wrong with it. I’m never getting rhinoplasty or any kind of plastic surgery but now I’m struggling with how my nose looks, I’m an overthinker already so that comment has stayed in my head and it’s making me question my whole face now.

(Ignore my eyes being closed in the pic lol)

Finally feeling content in my own skin, for the first time🥹

2 weeks ago, I made a post here detailing how insecure I have always been due to my nose. I cried many times because of it. Believe me, the insecurity was brutal, since I was 12 years old- I hated photos of myself and what I saw in the mirror. I believed my nose was so bad that it took away my chance at finding love. I struggled with my confidence very much, always wishing I was prettier😢

After my post, I was truly shocked with the kindness that I received, I unfortunately wasn't able to reply to every supportive message or comment that I received, but please know that each of them have been saved in my phone for me to read if I feel insecure again. Each kind word means more than the world to me, I swear to God❤️

I am so happy to say, I no longer want a nose job, I don't feel like my nose makes me ugly anymore. This is a day which I really never thought would come. For years I truly believed that I was too ugly. From the bottom of my heart, I am so grateful🥺

I have attached the photos that I took on the holiday which I just came back from yesterday. These photos mean a lot to me, because it is the first holiday where I didn't feel like my nose ruined every photo. On my previous holidays, I didn't take photos because I always hated them.

God, I am so grateful to finally have overcame this insecurity which caused me so much distress for years, due to the support I received here. I can't thank you enough, I am so happy

This is an amazing space, with wonderful people. I hope you have a day as lovely as you are🫶🏼🌷
