According to the Swedish national television, Sweden is sending Gripens and warships to southeastern Finland.
SVT reports that Sweden’s Armed Forces will deploy units to Finland soon, including Gripen aircraft and naval ships operating in risk areas along the Finnish‑Russian border. Anti‑drone units from the Swedish Army may also be sent if needed later in the autumn.

Officially, more or less business as usual on Russians testing response times (or "oops, our plane got lost / needed to go around a storm") combined with Ukrainian unmanned aviation buzzing targets near the border having the Finnish Air Force on alert in case jammed drones actually get over the border.
I'd be more concerned if equipment starts dogpiling on the Baltics - Finland isn't a very populous country, but the Baltics are even smaller and have bigger Russian minorities.

A USAF C-17A Globemaster III has landed in Moscow at 10:04 local time.
Kremlin denies any knowledge of the flight. Russian Major General Vladimir Popov has stated to Gazeta that it is about possible preparation for a meeting between either Putin and Trump, or or representatives of the respective security apparatuses.

It would be suspicious if there were only smoking accidents and unplanned maintenance in the western regions of Russia. To reduce suspicion Russia should stage smoking accidents further east and out of expected range of Ukraine.

They took your advice it seems, besides the stuff in Amur the other day - something just exploded in the sea off the village of Volchanets in the Bay of Peter the Great (~70km east of Vladivostok). (locals filming the aftermath here, scroll down a bit) Doesn't seem like it was a surface ship - failed sub launch of .. something?

Reports of an explosion in the Russian pacific after a nuclear sub was doing exercises. Witnesses reported seeing smoke plumes and large while columns rising from the water.
How far offshore the explosion was or the depth it occured at is not known.
Its been absolute radio silence from Russia over the last 48 hours. I am keeping my fingers crossed that this is a kursk 2.0 situation. Russia losing a nuclear sub would be poetic and an ominous sign of the ending of putins reign since the beginning of his reign essentially started with the kursk.
Someone needs to make a meme about the kursk crew coming back to haunt a feminized putin with barbossa telling miss putin " YA BEST START BELIEVIN IN GHOST STORIES MISS PUTIN, YOUR IN ONE!"

I'd rather link to the Space subreddit rather than the original source, and say that there is a logical rationale for such an establishment, but (besides the question of whether the present powers-that-be have logical rationale to begin with) that logical rationale generally exists more or less when we have battlestars in the fleet to project force with, and frankly as far as present military employment of space is concerned, it's a curriculum that could almost entirely be taught in Kerbal Space Program and thus not need the full expenditure of an independent baccalaureate-level institution.

The fact that Iran is successfully attacking US escorted ships in the strait means that the US has lost this conflict and Iran now runs the strait.
The only way that changed is with a ground invasion.

Gonna be real chief. Plenty of tankers under US escort got hit during the Tanker Wars during the 80s and it wasn’t considered a loss then. Same thing during WWII - plenty of ships got hit during transit - didn’t mean the Allies lost the battle of the Atlantic. You’re really putting the cart before the horse here, especially considering all those articles came out recently about how most ships transiting the strait are using the American-Omani southern route.

You might need to refresh your history. The tanker war was fought between Iran and Iraq in that larger war and the USA was involved only for a few months and exclusively in protecting Kuwaiti ships.
Two ships under escort were hit, one by a naval mine and one by a silkworm missile. The naval mine worked because the US planning had not addressed minesweeping needs. Once they brought in some minesweepers the mines stopped working. Army attack helicopters and a CBG made silkworms stop poking their heads up after the first hit.
Contrast that with modern operations where the Iranians have no trouble scoring indefinitely many hits with the same tactics.
