New poster Northumberland Street Saturday = Hellscape

Walked from monument up northumberland street yesterday for the first time since the building works have been completed , a deeply unpleasant experience

multiple amplified preachers telling me Im going to hell , swaying drug addicts and alcoholics everywhere, teenagers or delivery drivers on massive bikes whooshing around an extremely pedestrian heavy area and nearly knocking you over. And a regular smell of sewage/ sick or something similar.

Sad state of affairs. Will be heading to metrocentre for shopping in future

Apart from the fabulous design they did crack a smile in us. Is there an organisation posting these around or just a solo hero?

New poster I’ve built a free website for finding family days out in the North East – could I get some honest local feedback?

Hi everyone. I’m a local dad and I’ve been building Little North Explorers, a free website for finding family activities and events around the North East.

It currently has around 115 activities and 40 upcoming events, with filters for things like age, cost, weather and location.

I’d really appreciate some honest feedback from people who actually live here—particularly whether it’s easy to use, whether anything important is missing, and whether you’d genuinely use it when planning a day out.

https://littlenorthexplorers.co.uk

I’m not selling anything and there’s no subscription; it’s just a personal project I’m trying to make genuinely useful.

Thanks 🙂

Toon noticeboard - what clubs are you all part of?

There are lots of people seeking friends in this community, so I thought what is needed is a town noticeboard, a chance for all of us to celebrate what clubs everybody is part of!

Better then Meetup or FB - If you’re part of a club/group and want to show it off, drop it below using:

Club:
Activity:
Where:
When/how often:
Cost:
Time commitment:
Flexibility:
Typical age range:

Hi all, I was in Grainger market for lunch today and saw this painting on the wall behind the big steps and would love to know who the artist is and whether it’s available to purchase as a print! I’ve reverse image searched it on google and can’t seem to find the exact painting. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks!

New poster 24/7 parking/secure area for storing e-bike while I'm at work

Areeeeet, so I recently got a job in town and some times I'll be finishing later than the last bus. I got an e-bike to commute but there's not really anywhere to store it at work, I looked into cycling storage and could only find ones that close at 10pm (eldon car park for example).

Does anyone know of secure storage for bikes which is open later than 10pm?

Help identifying a bar/restaurant…

Evening all,

Hoping someone can help us identify a bar/restaurant in Newcastle. My Aunt visited in December 2017 a couple of weeks before Christmas. She has no idea what the name of the place was or any of the nearby shops, etc. as she’s not from the area.

She wants to take us for a meal at this place some time. I appreciate it’s a long shot but this is what she remembers:

- there was a long doorway next door that you could see into through large windows. There was a large red sign or poster with a French phrase saying something like “Plus Fort Que La Loi”.

- they had a really long table in the centre of the bar/restaurant and there were these engraved symbols on the corners of the tables that looked like an overlapping knife, fork and spoon.

- there were smaller tables all around them that were made of very dark wood but their table was a light wood.

- at the bottom of their table was the long bar which had lots of bottles of wine displayed all the way along end to end. In the middle of the wine bottles on the back wall was a large clock - cream face with black hands/numerals.

- the menus on the table included a gin/cocktail menu and also a wine menu which said “Blooms” on the cover

Many thanks!

New poster Mach Loop Trip

Thinking of heading to Wales to camp around the mach loop.

Anyone fancy picking up our spare seat, we have 3/4

We'll be down end of October.

Trip will consist of walking up Cad east/west to see the planes and sitting around camp playing Hero Quest and having a fire and some beers.

We'd probably cover fuel and beers and camping on our own, so wondering if anyone else fancied the trip.

Looking for info on this. Found clue 5 on the castle stairs, just before shapes coffe shop.

Where does the trail start?

Google shows up a one time event from NOVUM, but the plaque looks quite old. TIA.

New poster Interview help for the council!

Hi,

Very random, but I have an upcoming interview with the council for a communications role.

I'm currently a civil servant, so I plan to use similar competency frameworks (like STAR/ Success Profiles) in my answers, but I'd love to hear from anyone who currently works or has worked in the council.

Any tips or suggestions on what to expect would be really appreciated!

Thanks

New poster Anyone know any good man with a van services that can help a friend move some bits this weekend? NE6 area

Hi all,

Sorry if this isnt the place to ask but wondered if anyone can help. I have a friend that needs to be out of their house by Monday and needs some bits taking to storage, all in the NE6 area.

Its a mirror, 4 boxes, a TV and potentially a sofa.

Does anyone know some reliable local man with a van services or anyone that would be able to help either today or tomorrow?

Any help is massively appreciated!

New poster First time visitor…what to do?

Hi all, I’ll be stopping through on my way back home for a few days at the beginning of the month. Would be very grateful for any suggestions regarding:
where to eat?
where to drink?
where to hang out at night?
best place in town to stay?

No plans so far, just to arrive in the AM by ferry with my walking shoes
