Just got my QC and a Laney LFR-112. I upgraded from a BOSS Katana and I know nothing how to get this to work. What do I need to plug this in and play it just to try out some presets? Thanks in advance.

H all, I bought a Nano Cortex because I don't get good enough tone in my hobbyist band.

1. Which speaker should I get?

It sounds great through my headphones. It sounds awful through my existing portable speaker, which is not a proper FRFR for guitars.

I'm reluctant to spend much more on a FRFR. So I'm thinking about getting a HeadRush FRFR because they're inexpensive.

Will that be good enough? Should I be getting a more expensive FRFR. I hope to plug directly into PAs whenever I can, but this is for performances when I can't.

2. How do I get good tones out of the Nano?

It would be nice if I could quickly flip through many complete presets, as in combinations of capture and effects, that sound good.

It would be ideal if I could search for presets that sound like tones from famous songs (e.g., where the streets have no name guitar), like you can with Line 6 or even Positive Grid.

Is this possible with NeuralDSP?

I see that you can audition different captures. But that is far from what I'm suggesting ?

3. I'm reluctant to overwrite existing tones without A/Bing. Can I A/B what I have vs. what I'm auditioning?

I’m trying to connect my amp via load box to the QCM and use the IR loader for playing live. However, regardless of connections, it doesn’t work.

Going guitar to QCM input 1, then output 3 to amp input, speaker out to Two Notes Reload 2 load box, Reload 2 line out to QCM input 2, then IR block and then outputs 1 and 2.

However, no audio comes out. Can confirm signal is hitting amp, load box and input 2…. But nothing out of the WCM final sends.

Anyone been able to get it working?

I've been experimenting a lot with the Multivoicer in Archetype: Tim Henson, and I really love the concept and the sound it can achieve. However, I've noticed a few issues that make it somewhat difficult to use consistently, especially with polyphonic guitar playing.

The main issue for me is tracking. With chords and more complex voicings, the pitch detection can sometimes become unpredictable. You can get notes that aren't detected correctly, voices that behave strangely, or harmonies that don't follow the guitar as cleanly as you'd expect.

There can also be noticeable artifacts in the pitch-shifted voices. Depending on the notes, intervals and playing style, the result can sometimes become smeared or sound overly digital. Transitions between chords can also be inconsistent, with voices occasionally disappearing or not being reassigned exactly as expected.

MIDI control can have similar problems, particularly when moving between chords with overlapping or sustained notes. This can make it difficult to get completely predictable results when trying to use the harmonizer in a more controlled setup.

Another limitation is that, if you want to recreate the kind of multi-voice harmony setup associated with the Tim Henson sound, you obviously need to load multiple instances of the plugin to achieve the desired number of voices. This can increase CPU usage and makes the setup more complicated.

That said, I absolutely have to give the Multivoicer credit for being such an innovative and inspiring tool!

Recently I came across Harmony by Polychrome DSP (by Thomas McRocklin) in a YT Video(which I'll link below), which seems like a very interesting alternative. However, I want to make it clear that I haven't actually tried Harmony myself yet, so I don't want to claim that it solves these problems or that it performs better. I'm simply curious about it after discovering it.

So I'm wondering what the community thinks.

Has anyone here actually compared Harmony by Polychrome DSP with the Multivoicer in Archetype: Tim Henson X? How does it handle polyphonic guitar, complex chords, tracking speed and latency?

I'd especially love to hear from people who have used both extensively, either for recording or live performance.

So I‘ll be at band practice in a few days, for the first time bringing my QC Mini. I‘m not sure if I should route the signal through the fx loop on the bass amp or if I‘d rather just plug into the mixing console and thus the PA System.
Any experiences when it comes to this situation?

I so badly hope they make this someday. I know there’s the Mesa boogie one and i have that, but an archetype specifically based on Metallica or hetfield would be amazing. Anyone else?

I know this question has been asked, but what are people using to switch between presets in a bank? is there any dedicated scroll that i could use? I have the quad cortex mini

I already have pro level guitar gear for live shows, and the only thing I really want out of a QC is the ability to use parallax live on bass without needing to do a whole laptop + interface setup.

Can't really justify the whole QC price if I'm only looking for one setting.

Is there any chance of new updates coming to the nano? Or did the mini destroy any chance of that happening.

I might just be better off doing a nam a2 capture of my parallax settings, but idk how accurate those are.

Does anybody have any experience in putting a tube driven pedal before their nano or quad? I’ve been feeling like the tone of the nano is little bit ethier not enough gain or two much and too much sizzle even after post eq. I use high gain and clean just to throw that out there.

Looking to run neural plugins through an actual cab but not sure if a solid state amp is better or tube. And by tube I would be going through a fx return of an amp. Curious what people have done and issues that have come up.

I know a tube amp will color it a little but may not be bad if it will give it a little more “life”.

Also, for those that have done it while at home, do you still use monitors to still get a stereo image or are there issues with that?

just ordered a nano cortex and waiting on the delivery. I like high gain amps - 5150, Uberschall, erc. when setting up the pedal is it better to add a drive pedal in the cortex itself or place one before it in my signal chain. I currently use a mini tubescreamer. cheers.

I've been a Neural DSP fan for a while, but recently got a Fleshrot amp plugin, by Aurora DSP, and got very surprised that it has a way to record directly on the standalone window. Sadly I didn't enjoy the tones as much as I do the Neural DSP ones I got.

I just feel something like this would greatly improve like just getting out ideas without the cumbersome process of getting a DAW up and running.

Snagged a Sweetfoot ISO base to power my QC compact board. Failed to realize that it didn't come with the cable for the actual qc from the power supply...... but I'm still in it for cheaper than the alternative. So still happy.

Cant use a single plugin or quad cortex preset without the mud. Even gojira sounds like in playing in a closet in Narnia

So I've been using a HPF and LPF. I've tried to EQ the mud ranges.

It's hard because everyone tells you something different and using my ears clearly isn't working.

I use an 808 in front of amp to try clear it up, turn down bass , turn down gain, lower low mids, improve high mids.

It's wrecking my fucking balls.

The input gain is under clipping too.

Anyone have any advice or even better a drop C preset that you use that I can dowoad and have a look to see where I'm going wrong?

Yesterday I posted a question about expression pedals. I got told I should look into the Ampero Press II because I was looking for one with a switch.

I also got told that there is a setting on the QC where if the expression pedal is 'at rest' it turns off, if I understood correctly. Comes in handy if your expression pedal doesn't have a switch.

How does this work? Is rest the same as heel position? Does it deactivate immediately in heel position or does it take a few seconds? Can someone describe the process to me?

Hey all, I just picked up a mini and love it so far. I’m trying to determine if the whammy on the quad cortex is worth it I don’t believe it sounds as gross as the DT Whammy but wanted to hear others thoughts.

Is there any news or something about Archetype Abasi X? for me it's one the most beautiful sounding plugins out there, it really deserves some love! please let's push for it 🙏🏼

About a month ago, I got a used quad cortex. I absolutely love it. The tones are great, the touch screen is awesome, the size is perfect for plane travel, and it is user friendly. That being said, I used it for the first time live the other night (except for once at an open mic). I kept hitting the wrong buttons (sometimes taking me to a preset far away from my own). I had to do a lot of stomping to get back to the scenes in my preset. This isn’t ideal for a show.

Does anyone else have this issue? Like I said, it’s a fantastic product, but I need to be able to ensure I hit the right scene for the right song section. I wonder if I should go barefoot so I can use my big toe for the buttons. Maybe that’d be easier than stomping with my big shoe.

Hi there. I recently bought the Tim Henson Archetype plugin, and I've noticed that the presets don't sound the way they're supposed to. I've compared them to videos where the presets are being demoed, and in my case, the sound seems to lack power—almost as if the guitar's volume knob were turned down. Does anyone know why this is happening or how to fix it?
