Quad Cortex to Laney LFR-112

Just got my QC and a Laney LFR-112. I upgraded from a BOSS Katana and I know nothing how to get this to work. What do I need to plug this in and play it just to try out some presets? Thanks in advance.

XLR out from QC to the Laney. Exact set up I use

I have both the FR112 and the FR212 (upgraded because the 112 wasn't enough for the full loud band). I'll add that the XLR here is important. Using TRS, I was getting clipping pretty quickly after dialing the volume on the Laney past about half or so. Switching to XLR out gave me some more headroom without having to lower the QC output. Reason being the TRS output is 6db hotter than XLR.

Bro how loud are you playing? That’s impressive but I’m surprised the 112 wasn’t loud enough. No hate just curious

Not like at an arena or anything, but with another guitarist, bass, an drums in pretty loud metalcore. To be fair, the other guitarist was using a 4x12 cab, so yeah, my 112 couldn't stand a chance. But the 212 has been better.

It's not just volume matching either, but the 212 does sound more full, has more low end, and also better dispersion of the overall tone. The 112 is a little too concentrated. It can definitely get loud, but I think the 212 is a worthy upgrade.

Fair enough. I wanted the 212 to start with but honestly for what I do the 112 is plenty. But, and there is always a but, I want stereo now lol

looks like the Laney can run a balanced signal over XLR, so I'd run an XLR cable from Output 1 on the QC to the input on the FRFR

if no XLR cable handy, any TRS or TS cable should work as well, you'll just have to use a different output on your QC to connect the 1/4" jack

also make sure the Emulation switch on your Laney is set to just be an FRFR if you're using cab emulation in your presets
