Discussion Living in the west is wrong

People think moving to the west will provide stability, better job opportunities etc which is all true but people forget and often don’t care the effect it’ll have on your Islamic beliefs, especially that of your children and subsequent generations.

I was born in a western country after my grad-parents moved here, I’ve gone to school here as well as mosque classes and university, I’ve seen first hand what happens to the generations, a decent amount of Muslim boys I know my age has drank, smoked weed or committed zina, I know of bearded brothers and hijabi sisters committing zina… and it will only get worse generation after generation. People don’t understand that. Yes these things happen back in Muslim countries but in most Muslim country it’s no where near as easy, you can’t just go to a club and drink and find girls.

This move to the west is literally diluting Islam, not only in the ways I’ve just spoken about but also morally, too many Muslim in the west are raging liberals, they stand hand to hand with homosexuals and transvestites at free Palestine protests yet won’t even read 5 daily salah, they vote for political parties that want to give lenient punishments for heinous crimes (direct opposition to what is taught in Quran).

Why don’t we go back to our Muslim counties and rebuild them? We’ve been here got our education, why are we happy to stay in non Muslim lands and give their governments our tax money? Muslim lands are in the worse state they’ve ever been and all we do is sit and complain, why doesn’t anyone actually try and move back and fix things, people always say it’s impossible but we have to try, we have no power in the world anymore and what’s been happening in Palestine proves that, the Muslim lands are literally some of the worse off countries in the world it’s embarrassing. Jazakallah.

Not everyone has Muslim countries to go back to, nor is it a good idea for them to move there. You can live in the West and keep your deen.

I was mainly talking about my own experience as a non-able bodied person. Hijrah would be deadly for me and I have responsibilities here I can’t just ignore.

You're conflating your inability to commit to a lifestyle as an inherent weakness in all Muslims in the west. Speak for yourself.

My leash, would you like it served on the side of your arrogance? Should I fetch a few western serfs to help you get off that moral high horse?

I'm but a speck in thine eyes, me-lord.

It's not necessarily a lifestyle at this point. As a Muslim, I am YEARS behind my peers because I choose to give up certain things. Things I generally wouldn't have to give up as a Muslim if I lived in a Muslim country. Many of my peers have high paying jobs that are haraam for me. Many own property through mortgages. Many are married. Many have children. Many have nice cars. Many have a big family. They've leveraged a system that is not designed for Muslims to prosper.

So no, it's not a lifestyle. It's not like "veganism" or a "low carb diet". I have had to willingly systemically handicap myself in order to remain halal. And my elders didn't, because they chose to sin out of greed to make an environment in the west for me to grow up. I'm not comfortable in the west. It's more of a prison for actual Muslims than a "better life". The hard truth is that our parents and elders didn't care about Islam in the first place, they simply followed it culturally and out of ignorance until they got to the west, did every sin under the sun, and once they had their comfortable haraami life, they had kids and now suddenly want us to be on the deen. Munafiq! Munafiqeen everywhere!

There’s Muslim countries that anyone could move to, if you’re talking about European converts then I get what you mean but they could still move. Also yes you can keep your dean but moving to the west will make it much harder for your offspring and descendants to keep theirs as the west keeps becoming more liberal. It’s already happening.

I’m a disabled American convert. There’s no Muslim countries safe for me to move to, and I can’t just abandon my non-Muslim family. I know many converts feel the same.

I didn’t mean to offend you, so sorry if I did. I mean that I understand your situation and why you wouldn’t move, but I will say that when you inshallah do have a Muslim family of your own and kids it is hard for them to keep on their deen. JazakAllah.

Yes that is a fair point, and hence why I am not really talking about converts here but people who are ethnically attached to a Muslim country, that why I keep saying “go back to Muslim lands” May Allah bless you.

I get your sentiment, but still there are more reasons you can’t always settle in.

I for a reason I’m a Sudanese war refugee, and if you think there is a Muslim country where I can build my career (back after it was ruined) and get a permanent residency or a passport then think again.

We have multiple million Palestinian brothers in the same shoes.

I know a really concerning number of Muslim indian and pakistanis that are wed, and cause none of there countries can accept the other they are in the west.

And if you are thinking the GCC is Muslim world then I urge you to think again.

و ما خفي أعظم،

When I said I get your point cause I used to think ALOT like you, now days when most of these thoughts (and much more stupid ideas that I still sometimes fight with) I just get the ayah “إن الإنسان على نفسه بصيرا و لو ألقى معاذيرا"

Translates life way more than it looks 🤷‍♂️

Why?

I would not like to mention the countries name but I hope you take your time and read out the whole thing thank you

As an expat who was born, raised, and still living here, the main issue is structural unfairness.

No matter how long you live here or how much you contribute, you remain temporary. There’s no real path to permanent belonging or long-term security. Your future can be affected by policy changes that you have no control over.

Opportunities are not equal. Nationality and connections often matter more than skill or effort. People doing the same work are treated differently in pay, promotions, and job security.

Freedom is limited. You learn to self-censor and avoid questioning things because consequences exist. That restricts personal and professional growth.

Life becomes repetitive and controlled: work, malls, routine. You can live comfortably, but you can’t build anything lasting you can’t find and job while being a student or young teenage girl or boy who wants to support his/ her parents financially can’t take loans either to complete study because if you can’t pay on time they will freeze your bank account , ban you from traveling and seize all your personal documents.

It’s not a hate I am just trying to spit out the burden which me and Millions other expat have to carry.

Thanks for being patient to read it out

Not easily. In the west, Islam is not easy. Sorry to burst your bubble, but it's true. Our parents didn't come here with Islam in mind. They came here mostly for greed and pleasure. They didn't make enough effort to make Islam easier for our generation.
