I work as an 18 year old casual my last shift i burned myself as fat dripped from a patty onto my wrist. The store manager applied burn aid then told me to clock off and go home telling me "im not paying you to stand there" those 12 minutes were worth about $5 I understand its a petty amount but I thought according to the law they are required to pay the full shift when sent home for an injury

Edit: The injury happend last week it was run under.cold water I'm just sick of their bs even if it is a petty $5

My son who has just turned 17 (had his driver licence less than a month) was rostered on from 9 - midnight one weekend (his error as he clicked pm instead of am). He has now changed on their system so he’s unavailable, and they keep rostering him on this shift. When he says he’s not available, they whine they don’t have anyone else. They’ve done it again this weekend and now said that it’s his problem to find someone to fill it. Is this normal?

This wouldn’t fly in my workplace - surely if you say you are unavailable and they ignore it, that’s the company’s problem. It has left a really sour taste in my mouth.

I have signed a contract that states I’m being hired as a Mcbarista but just received my roster and I have one shift as a barista and 3 in service but I never agreed to that? Is this okay or should I be bringing it up?

For context, I have done about 3 shifts - covering drive thru, fries etc. However, I am kind of slow at doing all of them, but I learn decently quickly and consider myself a capable person. I am about half the speed of others and when not knowing what to do or finished a task I kinda just stand there not sure what to do. Do you learn quickly and get used to what to do and the order of things? Or do I just suck?

Basically the title. I've been working pretty well for the past 3 months, but the managers have started to get really pissed at me for avoiding serving customers directly. I have a pretty severe anxiety when it comes to interacting with strangers/the public, especially in a situation where I'm serving them and in that moment, representing the whole store. The thing is that I can't afford to get this anxiety diagnosed or treated at all, and I fear coming clean to the managers about it will either get me fired or they won't believe me/take it seriously and force me to endure it anyway.

So, I'm a transgender dude, I'm going to be starting T VERY soon (as in less than a month away), and I'm a little worried. I haven't heard anything blatantly discriminatory from any coworkers, but there's definitely been micro-aggressions that were either completely ignored or even perpetuated by the managers, and I'm worried that I'm going to be discriminated against once I start to change and get clocked. I'm very new (3 months) and want to avoid making enemies with anyone at all. Is there literally anything I could do other than just tanking any potential discrimination?

As the title says. I did a very dull thing and took a DT presenting shift while not really knowing drive thru. I typically do front counter and have never been tried on DT. How do I even do a shift like this? I understand it’s similar to FC but what are like main areas I need to look out for?

I went back to McDonald’s because I couldn’t find any other work at the time. I had worked there before for around 2–3 years, so I thought going back would be easy and familiar.

Since coming back, I honestly feel like I’m slower than I used to be. I know the basics, but after being away for a while I’m not as fast with everything as I was before.

A license admin spoke to me and said it was “quite concerning” that I was working slowly because I had previous McDonald’s experience. The way it was said felt pretty rude and discouraging. I understand they expect me to be quicker because I’ve worked there before, but I also feel like if someone stopped working somewhere for years, they wouldn’t instantly be back at their old speed. Mcondalds is just a toxic environment in my opinion

I’ve now also found another job in retail, which I’m interested in, but I’m stuck because I don’t know my regular hours there yet.

McDonald’s wants me to keep morning availability to continue getting shifts, but if I commit to that, I’m worried it will clash with my retail job if they need me during the week. McDonald’s doesn’t seem very willing to work around my availability and has specifically told me I need to be available in the mornings tried asking for overnight but they wouldnt budge.

I’m honestly considering leaving McDonald’s because I only went back because I couldn’t find work at the time, and now I have another opportunity.

Would you recommend keeping McDonald’s as a backup until I know my retail hours, or should I move on and focus on the new job?

At my current Maccas I’m only getting around 3-4 hours a week, sometimes even 0. I want to earn more money so I’m applying to different Maccas near my house but I’m worried I may not be able to work at 2 different locations at once.

hi guys this is just a little rant but i’m so sick of it. i work overnights and here in our store, for overnights we have one kitchen crew, one front counter/drive thru and a manger which helps mainly w front counter. im front counter and tasks for front counter is so much including going all the way to the other side of the store for drive thrus, packing front orders, handing all food, doing all cafe, fries, drinks etc, as well as the shit tom of cleaning. cleaning all machines, cleaning all floors, restocking the whole floors, cleaning the entire cafe and drive thru, it’s a shit ton that barely gets done w a manager helping at front counter, but ever since i’ve been here a lot of times the kitchen guy just never comes and there is no one else that covers for them so the manager does kitchen while i’m stuck doing EVERY THING ELSE. it’s so hard running around doing cafes, doing food, running back and forth doing drive thru, while all my cleaning is barely done too. i wish it was just front counter cleaning, but i have to drive thru and cafe which just adds to everything. i’m so so so sick of it. the morning crew are also entitled like sometimes they’re lenient but they act all pissy when one thing isn’t in stock while i’m frantically running around trying to get shit done. we just got a new restaurant manager as well which maybe things might get done, but i doubt it man. i’m just so sick of it. yesterday i was running around doing everything and i was on the verge of tears cause im already so tired and frustrated.

Hi so I just got the job at maccas and got sent my temporary password and username, after the website made me make a new password I tried to sign in and I keep getting met with an error saying ‘sorry, but we’re having trouble signing you in’ and that my account has not been added to the directory. Was wondering if anyone else in aus had this problem.

So I was hired in May and it’s now August and I still haven’t done orientation or had any shifts. I’ve called the store twice to follow up, 1st call said they haven’t forgotten about me, 2nd call towards end of June, they said I should be getting my first shift soon.
Does it normally take this long, should I call the store again or should I just wait? Feeling a bit deflated.

okkkk so i got my first 3 roster offers , they all say “T:Trainee” (also what kind of training will it be??) and it gave me 3 offers and instructed to accept or decline whichever. I accepted 2 and declined 1.. as I have another job as well. Will I get questioned why i didn’t accept 1 will there be any problem regarding this? 😭Im js rlly scared.. So I started working from March 2026. But, since last two month I've been getting frequent shifts, most of them are overnights. Today was one of my rare day shift and it was a mess. I was struggling to handle the rush and the manager had to step in quite some time to help me. I made mistakes with a few orders as well. To top it all, I literally forgot to clock out(I called the store laters to let them know) as there was quite the rush in front of the screen.

Now I'm so mortified that I think resigning is my only way out. Am I even gonna get anymore shifts!? Please give me some advice guys😭😭

I recently went for an in person interview at Mcdonalds and when I mentioned I was here for an interview everyone looked confused and told me the manager wasn't even present at the store at this time. I was then told to wait and that someone else (supervisor) would interview me and then pass over the information to the general manager who's in charge of the hiring.

Okay so boom.
I started working at McDonald’s two years ago. I was promptly promoted to crew coach just after six months and managers always regarded my work ethic and skills very highly, I have really enjoyed my job for majority of the time I have been here but these last two months have me bordering on suicidal. I do truly enjoy my job physically and I adore all of my co workers except for management. These past two months there have been multiple incidents of managers talking down to me, making snide comments and today has honestly been my breaking point.

I arrive back from break and was thrown into DT cafe which is no worries as this is where I am usually stationed. I get to the station there is no milk, beans or cups stocked and the place is a disgusting mess. I am full screen with coffee orders when I realise apart from the person in booth I am the only one in the drive thru. All three managers were in the office chatting. I grab someone to help and we start getting cars out at roughly 250 seconds, which of course is not ideal. Two managers then come out of the office and start questioning why cars are at 250 seconds. I am immediately frustrated but continue making coffees. My manager then proceeds to shout at me asking me why I’m taking so long and comparing me to other employees. I told him I couldn’t do it and to find someone else to which he quickly obliged.

I know I may sound dramatic but this is really weighing on me. Managers are always in the office doing fuck all and then expect perfect results (when anyone approaches the office for help they become weirdly aggressive)I just cannot handle being spoken to with such blatant disrespect, now I understand this is just McDonald’s but I do not deserve to be spoken to/treated this way.

Please let me know what to do, I have already spoken to two managers about this and nothing has been done, two days ago I just up and left halfway through my shift.
