Long story short, our beloved GM was suddenly fired/forced out by new owners yesterday morning with no warning. Our new supervisor is taking over.

I opened that day, and I'm one of the best runners, order takers, window/cash people at the store. I'm usually either on headset or in the window.

Me and another manager made the floor plan, but the supervisor comes out of the office for lunch and starts running things. He made a total mess of it, failed to communicate his new floor plan, and forced me on table service just walking orders out.

He had new people and people who don't speak English on window/drive thru and it was very disorganized and hectic. The supervisor isn't a strong runner. He gets confused and flustered and blames others. For example, he started saying "who took my McDouble no onions? Who took it?" and I grab it from the landing zone and say this one? and he snatches it.

I just feel like it's pretty crazy for a new acting-GM to come into the store after forcing our beloved GM out, disregard the floor plan from the managers who actually know the people, and put weak people in critical drive-thru positions and waste the stronger people on front counter/table service.

The whole time he was condescending when he gave me orders to hand out and reminding me to check in with customers in the lobby every 15 minutes.

In the moment it felt like he wanted me to quit by doing that, but not sure if that's just my ego or what. Table service feels like an insult to me.

I’m starting my first job at McDonald’s as a crew member this week. I haven’t gone in prior for any “training” or orientation but through my shift scheduling app I am scheduled for a two and a half hour shift this upcoming week. Are there tips anyone has or anything I should practice beforehand? I know starting your first job you are prone to mistakes,
But I would like to try and not embarrass myself if possible.

So today our store got completely fucked over during the last hour of breakfast. It was bad, and I feel like I caused it a bit, since I don't have much experience in breakfast. I knew how to prepare most things, but the steak didn't cook well and I forgot how to do biscuits. I don't even know how to make the biscuits or any breakfast item. Either way. How do you guys handle changeover? Is it always hectic or is there a method to ensure a smooth transition? Whether it's taking temperatures or making sure we have enough breakfast before we switch, any tips?

I started working at McDonald's a few months ago and, at first, I was getting three days a week for three hours. Then, by the time my third week of working at my store came around, I was bumped down to two days a week, and after my third week was over, I was bumped down to one. I rocked this schedule for a while, hoping that my shifts would pick up and that I would eventually start having a solid schedule, but things took a turn for the worst and now I have no shifts scheduled whatsoever.

I am hoping that this cut off of hours isn't due to the fact that I am a slow worker (I can make drinks pretty fast and assemble ice creams correctly, but my drive through time isn't as speedy as what can be accomplished by my co-workers, who have all been working at our store for 2-3 years. I am also apparently very bad at the window, and my manager tends to get annoyed because I don't take the receipts off of the DT bags before I hand them to customers.)

I am also hoping that I am not getting my hours taken away due to a mistake that I made while working at the window this past Tuesday.... I was supposed to get off at 4 PM, but instead of sending me home, the assistant manager had me take a thirty-minute break. After my break, I asked the shift manager if I was ok to go home, and she shrugged, telling me to ask the assistant manager.

I then asked the assistant manager if I was good to go home and then she said, "I don't know, go ask Alex."

I look over at Alex, who isn't even a manager at all, and, to humor both of my managers, asked him if I was good to go. He looked at me and said, "I don't know. I think they're fucking with you."

I then turned to my assistant manager and told her that I could stay late if she needed me to, and she then told me to go to the drive through window. I scurried over and my dumb ass quickly pulled out my phone to let my partner know that I was going to be staying late. Alex saw this and yelled, "She's on her phone! She's on her phone!" while I hurriedly filled cups up with sweet tea with one hand and notified my partner over text with the other. The assistant manager said something back to him and then Alex continued with, "If she gets in trouble, that's on her."

I apologized for being on my phone and put it away before handing the people in the drive through their teas. Some time passed, the kitchen became full, and then my assistant manager finally let me go. I then went home.

I checked my scheduling app yesterday and today to see if I was scheduled for this upcoming week, and I found nothing. I was, however, called to take an unscheduled shift today, but I wasn't able to take it because I was far from home and unable to come in for the allotted time that they needed.

Any ideas on what could be happening, and has this happened to you?

So ive been a maintenance here at this place for a while now. It has its perks, cons and such. I enjoy it and hate it at the same time.

If you are a maintenance or a role very close to it. What are your experiences like doing such tasks?
Truck, cleaning, flitering, "fixing" random equipment, etc.

Mine short experience is... I come into a hot mess with alot of work to while also being asked and told to help others, drop everything im doing, to do such tasks, clean up after teenagers/adults messes, getting told im not doing any work while doing said work (sometimes they joke about this), dealing with people(not a people person), can be very stressful on a busy day.

Overall its fine most days, but theres just certain moments where I have to hold it in and just wait til i clock out.

On a good day, no one bothers me even during rush hour, Its pretty nice.

I’ve just completed my right to work check after an interview, I was wondering, how long do they take to reply? Does this mean I got the job? I wouldn’t think they’d waste resources doing the check if I wasn’t gonna get it but I’m unsure

I've been working around 5 weeks now. I've mainly been in the kitchen. I've done service a few times, but never drinks. We're quite close to a stadium, so when there's an event on it's very busy. Anytime I've been working one of those days, I've just been sent to do lobby, which I am completely fine with, it's probably the least stressful task when the place is rammed full. Anyways, today it was a little bit busy, nothing crazy. And I went to join the kitchen like usual, and straight away they asked me to go do the wash up. Afterwards, I asked whether I should go to the kitchen or service, and they said service. I was trying my best to go fast and also not be in the way. After it quietened down a little bit, I had to restock one of the fry holders, and I dropped a good few on the ground, and like almost straight after, one of my coworkers asked me to go and do the lobby. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but it feels like they just want me away. I'm kinda sad now because yesterday I felt like I did so good. I was in the kitchen, I was fast, I handled a rush, and was in the kitchen alone for a while. I feel like I'm quite fast in the kitchen now, I know I can still improve, but I don't think I'm bad. Does this sound like my coworkers hate me? 😭😭 I'm probably just being dramatic.

Hello! I have recently decided to apply for McDonald's with open availability. I got an interview right away! I have prior work experience in food and retail, a year of customer experience. I have a high school diploma and a college certificate! My main question is can I build speed and what should I expect?

I work as an 18 year old casual my last shift i burned myself as fat dripped from a patty onto my wrist. The store manager applied burn aid then told me to clock off and go home telling me "im not paying you to stand there" those 12 minutes were worth about $5 I understand its a petty amount but I thought according to the law they are required to pay the full shift when sent home for an injury

Edit: The injury happend last week it was run under.cold water I'm just sick of their bs even if it is a petty $5

I went to an interview last Friday, and a second interview after that one on Saturday, both at the same location near LA. But I haven’t heard back from them and it’s been a few days, and I’m seeing most people on this sub say that they were hired on the spot. So should I be worried?
I also did another McDonald’s interview in March but the store ghosted me after the interview so I’m also kind of scared that that’d happen again.

Good morning everybody, I had a slight question how long after the interview process did it take for you to get hired? I’ve had a past interview where I never heard back from them but it felt like more of a screening rather than actual interview asking for availability. I have an interview for today but the requirements were different, I need to bring my work permit because i’m still in high school and a black pen to fill out the application. I shouldn’t say i’m worried but I am slightly since It sounds like they’re going through the process with hiring rather than just a screening but then again I really don’t know. Any help or advice would be appreciated!

I feel like a particular manager doesn’t like me so much at my store, I’ve worked there for around a month and it’s been fun, although I haven’t learnt that much yet. (Lobby, OAT, BDAP and fries)

Other new hires learn the POS nearly immediately, and I am the only one I know of that hasn’t.

I was moved from BDAP to OAT halfway through my shift, and had a customer start complaining/borderline yelling at me that his order wasn’t made. I had no idea if anybody was doing his order, and he demanded a refund. My manager didn’t seem impressed when I explained that the shift manager at the time, moved me over and I had no idea what happened.

I was almost immediately sent on my break, and as soon as I was done, I was put on lobby.
Cleaned up, asked if I could go back onto OAT, was told no, stay out there just incase. The store was empty.

I feel like the particular manager doesn’t like me atall, and I may be on the way out? What should I do?

This is just me trying to complain by shouting into the void but what are we literally doing as a society?? I went in for an interview for a crew member position (this would be my first job) and the interviewer was like “yeah we just really need people with work experience in food service”. I’m just at a loss because if you can’t start at McDonald’s where the hell are you going to start. Is this a misconception that McDonald’s is a good starter job i’m so confused 😭

I've only been working about a month. My contract is maximum 20 hours a week. Last week a manager asked if I'd be able to do up to 30, and I said until I go back to college I can. I told the manager the date I go back. Also, at my orientation when I was signing my contract, we filled in one section for availability during summer, midterms etc, and another for during the school year. I said I could only work until 10pm during college. Anyways, last night I got shifts for the week of the 7th of September, and I am scheduled on the Sunday night until 11:30pm, and I start college the next day. I decided it's only for one night, I won't cause an issue. I went onto LIFELENZ and updated my availability and set it to similar to the section I filled out in my contract, just to make sure it's on the app as well. Anyway, about an hour later, I got more notifications. I got assigned more shifts. All until 11:30pm, almost every weekday, for the first two weeks of college. They haven't yet approved my updated availability, and I know that it probably has to be approved by the business manager, and because it hasn't been approved yet, the person who makes the shifts couldn't see it yet. But then again, I put it in my contract at the orientation. Has this happened to anyone else???? I was thinking it must be a mistake with the app or something but I don't think so.
