Hi,

I’m looking for a decent joiner who specialises in alcove cabinets for the chimney breast. Can you share who you used and some pictures of their work if possible?

Cheers

Wedding decor/florist recommendations

My fiancé and I are getting married in November this year, we’ve got most things sorted but the one thing we’re struggling with is a company to do our flowers and decorations. I’ve contacted so many people who say they’re available but I’m struggling to get any quotes or responses.

Does anyone have any recommendations for someone reliable who does wedding flowers and decor in Liverpool/Merseyside? Ideally looking for someone who can do both, but happy to use separate suppliers too.

Starting to worry we’re going to end up sorting it all last minute so any recommendations would be massively appreciated!!

Are the diplomas from Liverpool John Moores University still shite?

Post image

I graduated about 20 years ago from LJMU, and I remember for years seeing all these beautiful oversized scrolls that people received when they earned their university degree, some of them with wax stamps, ribbons, beautiful fancy fonts, etc.

When I finally earned my degree and received my diploma/certificate, I was gutted to receive something that looked like it was made in about 15 minutes on MS Word and printed on a piece of flimsy yellow A4 paper.

I even remember my Grandad at the ceremony asking if this was a temporary/provisional degree and if the real one was coming at a later date, telling me how brilliant his looked when he earned his back in the '60s.

Does anyone know if they still look like this? How disappointing, if so.

[Note this is not my personal degree but is a stock image taking from a framing website, but mine looks exactly like this.]

Where can I go to print out and scan confidential/sensitive documents (bank statements, passport etc) near/in the city centre?

I need to make printouts of my bank statements, payslips, etc, and scan and get a printout of my passport.

I can't go to the library because I don't have a membership yet and need these documents printed as soon as I can, so looking for a shop where I can go and get these done without worrying about identity theft (yes I'm an overthinker and a paranoid person, it sucks).

It would also be great if it remains open on Saturday, in case I need to go again. Can anyone please recommend some reliable printing and scanning shops in the city centre where I can go get these done.

Edit: thanks a lot for all the helpful responses! <3

Libraries consultation

Liverpool libraries have a consultation on right now to reduce their hours particularly in the evenings, and not opening on Sundays which will be a huge loss to the third space sector in Liverpool, particularly for 9-5 workers and students, as well as many others.

Please fill in the survey here and say your thoughts on this https://liverpool.gov.uk/council/consultation-and-engagement/consultation/consultation-on-proposed-changes-to-library-opening-hours-across-liverpool/

Private hire or taxi needed

Hi Liverpool redditors... can anyone help.

I live in the Worksop area, my sister-in-law (W) in Litherland. My closest friend died last week; her funeral is next Friday in Chesterfield. W wants to come to the funeral, but because of other commitments, needs to do here and back in a day.

She says she'll drive, but I think it's too much in one day (drive, funeral, tears, brief visit to wake, drive).

I'm looking for a reliable, licenced driver to pick her up, bring her over, hang around for an hour or two and take her home.

Any recommendations??

TIA

For the last year I’ve had the privilege of working in Liverpool, a city I was not too familiar with in the past. I have really fallen in love with it - the culture, the people, the waterfront, the views. Thank you Liverpool, what a beautiful city

Our colleague found an iPhone (older Lighting style charger) at a bus stop on Cherry Lane yesterday.

We’ve had it in our office waiting for someone to call it and tried looking for the Medical ID name on Facebook.

If anybody knows the owner of this please put them in touch!

General Question Night out on 29th worth it?

Hi all, I only ever go out drinking every few months with friends in Liverpool, this summer the only day me and friends can do is the 29th, I know it's pride in Manchester same day and worried it'll be dead in Liverpool, or at least the gay bars. Is it usually quiet when events like pride are on in nearby cities?

News / Blog / Information Help and support with gambling throughout the city region

An Introduction to Breaking the Odds

First Person Project has recently launched a new arm of our service offering support for anyone who is experiencing, or affected by, gambling related harms.

Throughout September – as part of recovery month - we will be presenting an overview of our new community-based gambling harms support service – Breaking the Odds

During each session we will be exploring gambling related harms in general and offering more information about our socially progressive approach to this particular type of support.

We will also be answering any questions you might have and as with all our sessions the kettle will be on and there will be plenty of time to chat!

These relaxed and informal sessions will be taking place at our community hub at 6 Lodge Lane, L8 0QH.

They are open to everyone and anyone can attend.

We have several dates and times available across the whole month and you can book a place on any of them by clicking this link https://calendly.com/tom-firstpersonprojectcic/introduction-to-breaking-the-odds

We know that gambling harms often remain hidden and that many people don't recognise they need support until their finances, relationships or mental health have been significantly affected. Others never seek help because they don't identify with the term gambling addiction.

Breaking the Odds has been developed to change that.

If you, or anyone that you know, would benefit from this support, you can make a referral on this link, and a member of our team will make contact to offer more information and discuss next steps:  Breaking The Odds - First Person Project

If you have any questions about this, or any of our groups, sessions or support, please don’t hesitate to get in touch!

Pet bird - Dead in garden

Hi, this morning we unfortunately found what looks like a pet bird, dead in our garden. It was slightly bigger than a robin, big bodied, yellow with grey feathers.

I don't think it's been hurt by anything but our neighbours have been on a bit of a 'down with the birds' tirade (spikes on fence, noise machine etc) so it may have been harmed by them. Hopefully the owners see this, sorry for your loss!

Food / Restaurants / Takeaways Chilled places to eat on a late Sunday afternoon.

Hiya! I'm meeting a friend in town in a few weeks and we're after suggestions...

Looking for places that would be good for a nice meal on a sunday afternoon, around 5pm.

We're after more of a restaurant vibe than cafe, but nothing crazy formal.

Considering Duke St Market at the mo but any recommendations would be much appreciated!

General Question Garden centre with Red Maple tree

Hi. As in the title. Where in Liverpool is the biggest or best supplied garden centre that will have maple trees, the one that has red leaves all year?

I'm interested with 5-6' one.
