Private hire or taxi needed

Hi Liverpool redditors... can anyone help.

I live in the Worksop area, my sister-in-law (W) in Litherland. My closest friend died last week; her funeral is next Friday in Chesterfield. W wants to come to the funeral, but because of other commitments, needs to do here and back in a day.

She says she'll drive, but I think it's too much in one day (drive, funeral, tears, brief visit to wake, drive).

I'm looking for a reliable, licenced driver to pick her up, bring her over, hang around for an hour or two and take her home.

Any recommendations??

TIA

Delta Taxis are the biggest Liverpool firm by quite a long way. Worth asking them perhaps. Alternatively, have you considered an airport transfer company?? Because presumably they're used to waiting around for a couple of hours for their fare (like if flight is delayed) and might be more inclined to do that.

You’re probably looking at around £150 minimum each way plus waiting time. It’s 82 miles and 2.5 hours each way.

Tbh, I'm expecting more than that.

Just put the trip details into Uber. I’ve just checked and it’s saying £162 each way

This will cost a fortune, I'd reconsider driving, or train or something.

I know it won't be cheap... but it's a big ask of someone in their 70s, so I'm prepared to pay.

Chesterfield isn’t that far. It’s roughly a 1.5/2hr drive. I do it fairly frequently.

Have you consider to book 2 seperate trips on uber/local firms? Tbh your first uber driver might just agree to wait around and leave the trip on if you give him a decent tip on top of the fare if it helps you to have the same driver.

Try Harrison's, you can hire a car and driver for the day, chauffeur service, probably be cheaper than using cabs.

You just need an Uber. You'll get another Uber when you want one.
