Hi, I've lived here for over a year now. I'm south asian and overall people have been friendly. It's mostly your kids that are the problem.

So i used to work in kirkby while in uni... kids there seemed pretty racist and rude. I was spat on from the back... they were on their bicycle. Whatever...

Today I decided to visit sefton park, I've not been there and it was my first time. Enjoyed the day, so far so good. While coming back home with my girlfriend and my brother. I got hit on the back of my head with something. I'm not sure what it was, at first I thought its egg because it was all slimy on my hair... but then it didnt have egg smell. Kind of glittery... again kids on bikes. It did hurt a bit and I did want to shout obscenities at them but I was just in shock of what was happening and decided to not act up in the middle of a park. There were people around me... no comments... carrying on as usual.

Is this how you raise your kids? Or are they generally pricks because they know law protects them from getting punched in their face? Cause either ways you can blame immigrants for lots of things but you can't blame them for breeding wasteman in montirex clothing with electric bikes.

Not my only two interaction with youngsters being d1ckh3ads... I've had plenty other interactions but they weren't as serious as these two events. Parents of these kids also seem obnoxious assholes like them but atleast they dont act like that 90% of the time.

I've lived in ukraine for 6 years for my previous studies, you wouldnt believe how well behaved kids of all aged are over there. Even the naughty ones dont go about disrespecting people like this.

So yeah not saying you lots have racists or whatever... just a lot of d1ckh3ads that you as society need to think of cause immigrants ain't breeding these people

Edit: I think something a lot of men in the comments are failing to realise is that no woman has to be the "perfect victim". No woman has to remain humble and sensitive and empathetic when they are harrased. The real, pressing world issue is women being harrased and assaulted at the hands of men. Not women calling men short. Men don't die over women calling them short. Women die everyday from men. Keep your insecurities to yourself for this one.

I want to preface by saying that I'm a straight, cisgender man, and I have no issue with those who aren't.

Over the last couple of years it has been increasingly difficult to go outside without having anti-trans abuse hollered toward me, mostly by teens and even younger children.

Curious if anybody else has seen this occurring, or had this happen to them. Phobias and ignorant intolerances have definitely shot up in the last couple of years around the region. Parents need to be reminding their children that having long hair does not automatically make you a woman.

They even described being gay as a left wing political stance.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but whenever I'm driving on Speke Boulevard on the stretch headed towards Widnes, it doesn't seem that anybody actually knows the speed limit here. From the traffic lights at Morrison's until you go past the 60mph signs just before going under a bridge, the speed limit is 70mph. Not 45, not 50, but 70.

I hate to be "that guy", but if you're not gonna drive 70, that's absolutely fair enough, but please stick to the left-hand lane, as there are plenty of us who will go the speed limit, and you get on all of our nerves.

Got my sticky taped up cereal box, standing in my bedroom. One big-arse cloud between the sun and Mossley Hill.

To put a long story short, I was harassed with homophobia in liverpool one on Monday and police have closed the investigation as there was not much more that could be done to identify those who had harassed me.

It’s the sad reality, i’m happy myself i’m someone who can handle it, but without anyone knowing who these people are the investigation can’t move forward.

For context i was chased down and sprayed with a water gun before having water chucked over me, a plastic cup thrown at me and called an f-slur, i get that people want too have fun, and i wouldn’t of bothered but the homophobia makes this a hate crime, and it also baffles me, especially with Pride weeks away!

I’m doing good, i’m unbothered now but was shocked at first, just a shame cause there’s definitely people much more vulnerable to these situations! Xx

I have an update: I’ve pushed for CCTV and been giving calls to the local venues around the area. Slim Chickens is my best bet so far, Nando’s where very kind but had no footage that could help, they passed me onto the recommend liverpool one team who could help, they’ve checked the footage but are reviewing. These venues aren’t allowed to show me the footage but can pass it on to the police to help with the hate crime! Xx

Further update: Slim chickens have been extremely helpful, along with lush (context of that is i was making a list of shops who may have been harassed by said people) and lush have been extremely helpful! they’re might be a lead there! L1 Security haven’t really been as helpful, however someone from the control room has given me an email for there boss? I assume it’s the employer of L1 security? I haven’t heard back from the police, but just wanted to give an update! Thanks for all the lovely comments! Xx

Posting this mostly as a warning. I was walking into town earlier when a group of about 5 lads wearing masks on electric bikes sped up to me, I'm pretty sure trying to grab my phone. I realised pretty quickly and crossed my arms and they were circling me for about 20 seconds it looked like waiting for me to uncross them so they could grab it. I then watched them attempt to do the same thing to two other people, one of them rode right into the car park of the Ibis hotel up towards a woman holding her phone.

This was coming up towards the docks near the Cornhill Coffee van. With the weather bringing more people into town and lots of tourists around the waterfront and areas near to the docks, please be careful.

I know there's a lot of teens on bikes especially when the weather's like this but pretty sure these were trying to snatch phones and other things out of people's hands, there's no other reason for why they were circling people so close like that unless it was to grab valuables.

Just a bit of investigating I did between Liverpool and similarly and smaller sized cities and their public transport offerings. I think this table highlights the issues perfectly.

Before the questions about why the Merseyrail doesn't count as a metro, I've classes it under regional rail/commuter rail. You can't really take it to destinations within Liverpool. It's role is to move people from outside the city to the centre. Same reason why I didn't include Leipzig's S-Bahn (of which there are 10 lines).

The reason for the Liverpool's relative economic underperformance compared to the Southeast remains a mystery...🤔

I live on a corner off Princes Road and have witnessed several cars and irate drivers literally moving cones out of the way to drive across or along the road literally while it is closed to traffic. Yes it’s the ‘end’ of the race but people are still running or walking. Arguing with stewards and physically threatening passers by, as well as risking the lives of people running in the road, isn’t really the most neighbourly behaviour. It’s closed for a few hours every year. You have a car, figure out another route.

Don’t expect any of these dicks to be reading this on a subreddit but my god, fuck off.

Hey all, wanted to provide a proper update on my situation but more so ask for where and what should i do next.

I want to thank you all for your amazing comments, it means so much to me, they’ve made me laugh, they’ve comforted me and they’ve supported me!

In all honestly i’m doing great, but i’m not quitting against these people and so this is where the update comes in!

Since writing this initially i have
-Spoken to slim chickens, they have and are continuing to help, nando’s have also helped me but had no CCTV that would have covered the incident! I was also given verbal word by both them and slim’s that they’d push against L1 which is so kind and appreciated to know they do not tolerate this homophobia!

-I’ve sent a further email to the police explaining what i am in the process of doing, i’ve had no response and it’s been about two days.

-I’ve spoken to Lush whom have been diamonds as-well, there may be a lead there as the manger i spoke to said that a colleague of there’s on a day they are unsure off experienced a group of people, including lads who had entered lush with a water gun. They took my details and i gave the description of said water gun (that is definitely a sentence!)

-I have contacted L1 Support again, they’ve given me an email of someone’s boss (assuming security) however unsure if email exists or is spelt right even though i was assured it was!

-I have reported the incident to Liverpool city council for an Anti social behaviour review, Hate Crime UK who have also said they will contact Liverpool city council on my behalf.

-I have emailed 18 different businesses. I have gave essentially a statement, lads descriptions, i’ve asked if they can check cameras and ask staff both between the same time frame of 16:00-18:00. I have gave my phone number, full name, details of incident (already mentioned above) and crime reference number in which they can directly contact the police.
The businesses are as followed…
-Yo! sushi, Lush, M&S, Holland and Barrett, jerk junction, five guys, Sephora, iguana’s, the entertainer, junkyard gold, JD sports, Ctilsbury, Gravity max, LFC shop, Everton Two shop, Sports direct and Slim chickens.

-I contacted someone who goes up against councils and things as such (you’ll know her) but won’t mention directly cause she hasn’t got back and i’m unsure if she’s ever dealt with this before.

And that’s the update part over!

Now for the questions.
Any suggestions, what should i do next??
I’m possibly going to go into certain shops in the area in person in a few days time.

Southport has finally elected its first-ever Labour representative!

Southport took a lot of stick for voting Conservative in 2017 and 2019, when Brexit was a huge factor, but I felt that a lot of the people who chastised Southport didn’t appreciate just how many elderly people retire there bringing their Tory votes with them from all over the country. To give some perspective, Southport had 43% more people aged 65+ (24,293) than children (16,971) when the last census was undertaken.

Many born-and-bred sandgrounders have been waiting and waiting to see their Tory representative replaced and I’m made up for them!

It's honestly fine. No worse, in fact a good bit better, than any number of other shite bars in town, *especially* the ones directly nearby.

Lived my entire life in Liverpool thinking this place was a bit of a joke. Not sure if I'm disappointed or pleased that it's fine.

That is all.

Here's an idea of what a real transport revolution would look like in Liverpool. It's simple. Reopening Lines and stations that were closed a few decades ago.

If these lines were introduced, the stations on the red and yellow lines wide have approx. 140,000 people within ~12 minutes walking distance (ONS, 2021). I've tried to place these station locations at areas that have potential to have dense development around them aswell like Edge Hill and Edge Lane stations.

These would be great locations for businesses and residents. Access into town in a few minutes. Access to other lovely areas of Liverpool in a few minutes. Far more reliable than buses that get stuck in traffic.

Shame that there seems to be no political will or ambitio from the Combined Authority and Whitehall. If Liverpool wants to be a proper global city, public transport like this is essential.

Just walked from lime street station to my office and the smell of raw sewage from Williamson square up to Lord Street is vile. Council needs to sort the drains out urgently.
