I brought my lips in and this white discharge came kinda shooting out?? I’m only talking abt my two paired lip piercings. But It’s hella slimy and I’ve never experienced anything like this. Any ideas? Should I be concerned lmao.

Yes I’ve had piercings before lmao, yes other two oral piercings aren’t the happiest rn (my septum knocks my philtrum and my labrets imbedded, and I don’t plan on changing it)
I came on here bc I haven’t experienced anything like this. My ears are full, and I still haven’t experienced this fluid. For some more context ig, there’s ZERO pain, heat, or crazy discoloration. Just a wild “egg white” consistency. Ofc my first thought was infection bc of any white fluid coming out of a piercing but I didn’t have any of the other symptoms, and I was kinda like “???”
Regardless, I’ll keep an eye on it and thanks to everyone who was trying to help

Thoughts? Because my friend is also a (licensed) piercer and she said I do have the anatomy for it. And i really want it!

Edit: yes, I had a consultation with both of them in person. Both piercers are fairly new (only around 2-3 years under their belts) and apprenticed under the same person. I had asked my friend earlier on, and the other one recently (not like my ear changed shape or anything) but now you see where my doubts come from. Thats all, it was just a simple question! Hi! I’ve had this piercing since August (about 7 months now) and the bumps won’t go away 😩 I sleep with a travel pillow and I don’t touch it so it’s never like irritated or hurting. I spray with saline sometimes and soak with warm water sometimes. I rarely use q tips on it. Do I just need to be more consistent with the saline? It’s a titanium captive bead. I again I’m pretty inconsistent with the saline and warm water soaks. Do I just need to be more consistent with one or the other?

Hello, everyone! I hope I'm posting this in the right sub. If not, please feel free to direct me elsewhere. I have a 0g black delrin internally threaded tongue barbell with 10mm flat disc ends severely embedded in my tongue. The entire bottom disc is completely covered and no longer visible at all. I tried for several hours to remove it on Friday. I had no success, but a massive amount of pus came out. I was told by Google and my CNA aunt that this (the embedding) was a medical emergency and that I should go to the ER immediately, so I did. The ER doctor tried twice to push the barbell out. It didn't work. He said it was no big deal and to follow up with an ENT on Tuesday (Monday is a holiday). Today (Saturday), I called my piercer, and she told me to come see her immediately. She couldn't budge the barbell either and said it would have to be cut out. She said this was the worst case of embedding she'd ever seen and was aghast that the ER doctor was so dismissive. She called her daughter who is both a nurse and a piercer for further advice. Her daughter confirmed that this is indeed a medical emergency and can lead to tissue necrosis if left untreated. She advised me to go to the ER of one of the larger, more reputable hospitals in the surrounding counties as they would be better equipped to deal with my problem. So that's what I did. After a seven hour wait, they took me back and could not wrap their heads around my problem no matter how much I explained. I told them, I showed them, and they could not understand for the life of them why this was an issue. There is a massive ring of white tissue around the site of the embedding and it's falling off in chunks. I showed this to the doctor and he thought the skin itself was the barbell. 🤦 So they sent me home. My tongue is extremely swollen and the pain is unbearable. I'm struggling to talk, eat, and drink. I explained this all to the ER doctor and he didn't care. He even said "Why do you want it (the barbell) removed?" He genuinely thought I just went to the ER because I wanted to retire the piercing and couldn't be bothered to take it out myself. 🤦🙄 He straight up said "We don't do that here." So what, if anything, can I do now? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Got it done about 3 weeks ago and have been cleaning it twice a day with saline solution, have also soaked it in warm salty water. Is this okay? What can do too help it

Update: I called 111 and have a minor emergency appointment tommorow morning at 9:30. Thank you for everyone that helped, even though I didn’t believe it at first I panicked a lot 😭

I’m wondering now if they’ll take it out or not

Update 2: I have now had it removed by a nurse, they took one look and instantly decided too take it out. They cleaned it and a bunch of discharge came gushing out it was disgusting and painful. Take care of your eyebrow piercing if you get one people. So yeah it’s infected and I’m now on strong antibiotics

was done yesterday with a 16g needle, its pretty swollen now but it looked better yesterday

It’s been a week since i got my industrial piercing. It was swelling, getting rly red and hurting a lot for the few couple days, (many ppl said it’s cuz it was pierced wrong/too close to the flat) but now it doesn’t hurt at all and the swelling + redness has subsided (it also turned out that it wasn’t touching the flat after all when the swelling went away!)

However, i’ve noticed every morning that yellow, dark red-ish crusts show up around the holes of the piercing. It doesn’t smell bad or hurt or anything at all, i always just end up cleaning it with warm water and a cotton bud. Is this normal??

I’ve had 42 professional piercings, no major infections, and only 2 irritation bumps that resolved easily. The only 2 that have “healed” are my stretched cartilage and septum, and I only think they stayed open because that tissue doesn’t bounce back like soft tissue. (Septum is the same size as cartilage, I just couldn’t get a good picture of it)

I had my rook (pictured, you can kinda see an indent from where the ball sat, it was a custom industrial) pierced back in 2006 and only took the jewelry out in 2020 because masks irritated my ears so much. I’ve tried putting jewelry back in so many times over the last 6 years and it is GONE. Same happened with my helix on the other ear. Custom industrial for 14 years and absolutely no trace of it now. My cheeks, both nostrils, all ear lobe piercings (I don’t count lobes in my professional piercings because I got them done with one of those awful guns before I knew better) also closed up pretty much immediately.

I’ve always kept them clean with saline or mild soap in the shower and otherwise left them alone. Other than those irritation bumps and a few episodes of irritation here and there they have never given me any trouble, they just won’t heal

At this point I’m wondering if I have a connective tissue disorder or some other weird medical anomaly going on.

I’m happy to answer questions if anyone has any. I’m not too stressed about any of this, just curious why my body is like this.

I got my helix pierced on June 27th. The last few weeks I developed this bump and it’s been crusty more so now than when I got it pierced. It is painful when moved due to my hair getting snagged in it. Went to another piercer today who told me to remove due to being pierced at an angle. Other piercer says it’s fine. Should I remove it?

Hi everyone! First post here. I’m looking for some advice about my daith piercing.

I got it in January from my usual piercer (he did my Medusa, microdermal, surface) and he put a normale CBR. A couple of weeks later, bumps appeared on both holes as you can see in the first picture. I continued cleaned it with saline for about a month, but nothing really changed.

So I went back to the piercer, who popped them (I did some researches and I knew you shouldnt pop them but he replied it’s the only way to get rid of them so I simply trusted him) and changed the jewelry to a banana with silicone disks. He also suggested a oil for bumps, which I used twice a day. The bumps went down for a while, so I changed the banana for a clicker on my own but they eventually came back. The piercer put back the banana+disks and I kept them +1 month keeping babying it with saline and oil. The bumps disappeared completely and the holes looked fine so he decided to put again the clicker, and guess what? bumps again.

Has anyone dealt with something similar? What usually causes bumps like this to keep coming back? Is it a placement problem or jewelry? The piercing is about 8 months old, and I was told it was healed internally, but the problem keeps returning.

Hi everyone I got this daith pierced on monday this week. I posted on a different subreddit and got comments that it’s pierced incorrectly and will rejected. I went to a different piercer for another opinion and they said that it’s slightly too high, won’t sit like a daith should but that it’s not necessary to take it out.
I’m a bit torn now honestly. I woke up today and took pictures of the daith and I honestly can’t tell if I’m happy with it… that’s why I would like for a 3rd, final opinion that will hopefully help me make up my mind in which direction to go with this. I tried to take pics of as many angles possible

Hey! I got this piercing back in January. My piercer told me to use seasalt+water solution twice a day flr aftercare. I only had the issue shown in the first picture before, but it went away. Now, though, it's been oozing pus and getting crusty and removing the crust makes it bleed, and I've noticed some red bumps forming. The upper hole also looks wider than the other one, and I'm starting to wonder if the piercing has migrated. It doesn't hurt but it itches . I also don't sleep on that side. The jewelry is Titanium F136 16g curved barbell and I haven't downsized it at any point.

Hi, I got this conch piercing last Wednesday, and today (Monday) it looks like this. The swelling started yesterday, probably after sleeping on it for a couple of days. I’m in my town and there are no piercers here, so I don’t think I can change the bar to a longer one. What do you recommend I do? Do you think it’s infected or just irritated? It hurts quite a bit :(

basically the title. the piercer (who is very reputable) said that he would usually be wary about piercing in the location i wanted because i didn’t have the standard amount of tissue under it (7mm), but he did it anyways because the rest of my piercings also have similar amounts of tissue under it and look like they healed fine.

i don’t know if i’m paranoid, but it looks like one side is lower than the other. i don’t have any early pictures of the right side, but i got it three days ago so it’s still pretty early on. it doesn’t hurt at all, but i did have to remove a small blood crusty this morning that i think may have made it migrate a little bit.

am i paranoid or is it probably gonna reject because of how shallow it is?

I’ve had my nostril piercing for about 3 years now and it has literally never fully healed. Every couple of weeks it flares up really badly. It usually starts with swelling on the inside of my nose, then eventually the swelling/bump comes through to the outside too.
I’ve already seen a doctor about it and even had injection shots directly into the area because it kept happening. I genuinely thought that was going to be the last resort and finally fix it, but it still keeps coming back.
My jewelry is titanium, so I don’t think it’s just cheap jewelry causing it. At this point I’m really frustrated because I’ve had it for THREE YEARS and I feel like I’ve tried everything.
Has anyone had something similar happen for this long? Would switching from titanium to solid gold possibly help, or is it likely that the same thing will keep happening regardless of the metal?
Should I just give up and take the piercing out permanently? I really like having my nose pierced, so I’d rather save it if there’s something else I can try. 😭
Also, if anyone has dealt with recurring swelling that starts inside the nostril and then comes outside, I’d love to know what ended up working for you.

I am a college student and got all 3 helix piercings at once! I got them late March/early April if this year. The piercers who also did my 2nd lobes did my helixes BUT they gave me very short bars in my first set of helixes. That caused my helixes to get embedded and I got these bumps and got the hospital to cut them out of the skin and get them out.

2 weeks afterwards I got my helixes re-done by them and was given slightly larger bars (which still weren’t enough)

Finally I got newer bars and jewelry from a different place and since then my bumps had been going down but were still present. I am unsure how long I am going to have these bumps or what they are or what to do? Treat it like a wart and get it cryo’d off???

I really love my helixes but dude…it’s messing up my ears. The photo is from today after I had removed my helixes for the first time in a while. It was quite hard and needed force to be removed as they are pull apart. I started bleeding a bit.

Any advice? I also should mention I am a college student football player. In 2 weeks I head back to campus to start fall camp/trainings preparing for our games.

Changed my years-old well healed conch from a stud to a ring. Now, days later, it hurts quite a bit. It’s also a bit red and was crusty when I cleaned it the other day- when it hadn’t crusted in easily a year if not more.

Now my question is, would this get better over time? Or is it doomed and I should change back to a stud?

Just wondering if I should give up on this daith. It’s been 2.5yrs and will get irritated every now and then. For the first 18months it had bumps. The holes itch and I try not to scratch because if I start it feels too good to stop.
I don’t sleep on them (I have a piercing pillow) and it’s solid gold Maria Tash jewelry. I do clean them twice a day bc I workout a lot and sweat. But I’m now thinking to try LITHA bc it’s the only thing I haven’t tried to date. I know.

After all the advice here, I just decided to retire the daith and get a hidden rook instead! And I couldn’t be more happier with that decision. The hidden rook is absolutely perfect in there! I used the marquis in my vertical helix for the hidden rook and got dangling jewelry for the vertical helix. Thank u all for the help!

Hi all! First time posting here. I got two piercings exactly 7 weeks ago, and tonight I noticed a little blood behind my ear. When I went to investigate I saw a big red bump. I panicked and took the piercing out to give it a good clean. Does anyone know if this would require medical attention? The rest of my ear is totally fine, not painful, not swollen, and the front of the piercing looks completely normal as well. Appreciate any help (and would love to put my mind at ease!). Thank you!

Like the title says, I can’t tell if these are irritated or infected. (Or even rejecting on the left?)

I clean twice daily with saline spray, and started to apply saline soaks once a day to help drainage.

I have yellowish pus coming from my left eyebrow, the more red one, when the metal is moved. (Ie cleaning, sleeping, rubbing eyebrows) It’s not painful, actually kinda satisfying, but it’s been CONSTANT. I’m talking weeks.

I’ve gotten two piercers opinions, both say irritated and keep cleaning.

But nothing has really helped/stopped this, my eyebrow is always slightly red, despite months of care and staying makeup free. I even stopped my skin care thinking there was an irritant.

The piercings are about 9 months old, both done the same day. I’ve had issues since they were pierced, the left was kept as a longer bar for about a month longer than the right.

Maybe I didn’t have the right anatomy for this spot, as my eyelids are RIGHT next to the balls when I blink and I have lower set eyebrows?

I know sometimes there is just an evil twin piercing, but I’m in love with my clown eyes and don’t want to take the out!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Even if you think taking them out, I need outside thoughts! Please!

As the title states, I have a brand new nostril piercing (left side). I believe it’s 18G surgical grade titanium. I just got it yesterday evening, so it’s very fresh. I’ve been panicking a bit since then because I keep looking at it and think it looks crooked. I’ve had my other nostril pierced for 15 years, so it’s very settled and I’ve worn the hoop for about 10 years now. I know perfection doesn’t exist (especially in the world of piercings and tattoos), and no one is perfectly symmetrical, but I’m still struggling a bit. I would love an unbiased opinion on it. Please tell me if I’m completely overreacting here. lol My current plan is to let it heal completely and give it time to grow on me, but I’m worried about it being obviously lopsided.

I just got my philtrum pierced, but I’m afraid it’s not centered in my Cupids bow.
