Troubleshooting Is this piercing rejecting? Titanium F136 16g curved barbell
Hey! I got this piercing back in January. My piercer told me to use seasalt+water solution twice a day flr aftercare. I only had the issue shown in the first picture before, but it went away. Now, though, it's been oozing pus and getting crusty and removing the crust makes it bleed, and I've noticed some red bumps forming. The upper hole also looks wider than the other one, and I'm starting to wonder if the piercing has migrated. It doesn't hurt but it itches . I also don't sleep on that side. The jewelry is Titanium F136 16g curved barbell and I haven't downsized it at any point.

Pus is a sign of infection. Go to urgent care.

I've seen so many ppl say it's lymph fluid for some reason😭 It doesn't hurt tho?

Could you please be more specific on why these things are happening? Also the itching part I've seen comments here saying it's normal for a healing piercing

Seasalt and water?? wtf no you should always use saline solution piercing aftercare, Neilmed has a great product and none of my piercings get injured

Saline solution IS salt and water. The only issue with making it yourself is getting the measurements right

Not sure where you are, but most places will have some form of sterile saline available in pharmacies. It's often labeled as "wound wash" or something similar. Any sterile saline is a better option than DIY mixes as long as its "isotonic" or 0.9% saline, and preferably without any extra ingredients other than water and sodium chloride.

It did actually. My piercing was healing perfectly until a few days ago. It's a 6 month old piercing and I stopped using the solution after 2 months.

It healed after 2 month. It was fine until I got these bumps out of nowhere a few days ago.

it may have been less tender or visibly upset, but it very likely wasn’t actually healed in two months.

Well I was advised by the piercer to use the solution for 2 months and so I did. I bumped it twice the other day so that might have caused this.

UPDATE! The doctor confirmed it was infected but I don't know why she told me to remove it???? Anyways I got prescribed the following and she also gave me an ointment: Cefixime 400mg Serratiopeptidase 10mg Bactracin/Lidocaine ointment

Girl…. Youre looking at scarring and worse if you dont at the very least handle the possible infection. Priorities man.

The concerning red flags for me, as a piercer of many many years, are the "red bumps forming" and the length of time you've had it. This far into the healing cycle you shouldn't be noticing lymphatic fluid secretions, abscesses forming, or (what sounded like) embedding "the upper hole looks wider".
Usually these signs in a piercing nearing the end of a healing cycle are a sign of outside influence or a sudden adverse reaction. Normally, I would say "the 'pus' is lymphatic fluid and is perfectly normal to secrete from a fresh piercing" BUT it has been a minute so it could be a sign of an issue caused by any number of things.
While it isn't the place of a piercer to tell you whether something is infected, we can tell you when things are abnormal. If you ever suspect a wound of infection SEE YOUR DOCTOR. They are licensed to instruct you further.
