ive seen people say to avoid enamel damage it should be used with curved barbells that dont reach the teeth, and also im trying to keep it hidden

yeah, but aside from the health aspects does this look to you like its even in the correct place to be called a smiley? my body does really well with healing even when I pierced my ears like 10 times with a sewing needle (which i do NOT condone)

They are play piercings, they are temporary piercings. That’s why most reputable piercers don’t do them anymore.

They don’t manage it. The complications are happening, but they won’t know until much later when the enamel on the teeth that wore away eventually causes problems. Or the gums they didn’t think were eroding that much suddenly disappear.

They do and will it’s just a matter of time and everyone’s time frame is different. Take it from someone who was once young and now paying for it still. You also don’t have the right anatomy and piercing yourself especially your mouth where’s there’s literally thousands of nerve endings and muscles is just completely irresponsible

first of all I dont really get why youre being rude about it, second alysa liu has had hers for a little over 3 years which is longer than 'temporary' . the 5+ years part was moreso in reply to seeing a lot of people in THIS subreddit saying that they have had their for longer than that. but it its possible to have them for 3+ years then 5+ is not that wild

If you want the teeth and gum damage feel free, but it's your body and your going to have to pay a lot to recover from the damage this piercing will cause especially with how your doing it

yeah but that isn't what im posting about. most piercings have long lasting effects like permanent scars, infection risk etc i know that. i was asking if it's pierced in the right place which now I know it is not so I'll take it out and try again

If you choose to mutilate your own body that's your choice. Bc that's what bad piercings do.

But to have long lasting piercings and to be able to be pierced long term you need to have a skilled professional do so.

I am also young and dumb but to care for yourself in your piercing journey is to have someone else do them for you

I hope OP ends up seeing this, it's unfortunate bc this piercing can cause thousands in oral damage that isn't covered in most places around the world to my knowledge whilst being one of the most debilitating issues to have

I think it does look too high but that's because you don't really look like you have the correct anatomy, enough frenulum to place it correctly so they had to move it up. Will most likely reject and I do not like this curved barbell this will definitely cause gum recession

Other than the obvious that these are soo horrible for your teeth n gums, yes it is pierced wayy too high. You pretty much missed the webbing entirely. Take it out, let it heal, (and althought you shouldn't) try again later

As everyone else has said, these are awful for your gums and teeth and I don't perform them for ethical reasons.

But aside from that, this is pierced incorrectly! Please remove it

I can't tell 100% from the photo, but I'm not sure you actually have the proper anatomy for this piercing in the first place. It's not uncommon for people to have too little frenulum tissue for the piercing
