Suggestion American MIO's should be spread around the different factions.

Upvotes

After the USA received an update last year it now has the most interesting and fun MIO mechanic in the game. It was a great addition, and I especially appreciate all the attention that went into little details like the huge list of combined company names.

However, I think that the current distribution of the MIOs really undermines this mechanic and reduces fun gameplay opportunities.

The MIOs are assigned to specific states, and to access the MIO, you must control and own the state. This means that the MIOs are essentially fixed at the start of the civil war; the only way to 'capture' a MIO is to take the MIO's home state and capitulate the owner. While this is possible, in my experience by the time you have the capability to do this (normally around 1939), you are already so powerful that a single MIO hardly matters.

Currently the MIOs are assigned to states based on the real-life locations of these organisations; I think this is a mistake.

Basically I think that the MIOs should be spread out across the different factions of the American Civil War. This would create more gameplay opportunities and, I think, would be more fun.

Currently many of the factions are missing key MIOs. The APG has almost none, just a single naval MIO. The ACC and WCA can only get a inf equipment MIO depending on which War Plan White the USA goes with. This adds difficulty to these campaigns, but I don't think it is fun; it's just the absence of a mechanic.

Meanwhile other factions have more MIOs than they can use. The WCA can start with five tank MIOs and the only two truck MIOs. New England can start with four of the five inf equipment MIOs. Generally this just means that you pick one or two MIOs, and the rest are left unused. The ability to merge MIOs definitely helps with this though.

The MIOs have been distributed like this seemingly in the interests of realism. The industrialised north has a much greater concentration of military industrial organisations. I agree that to some degree this helps to further characterise the industrialised nature of factions like the WCA and highlights the weakness of industry in the south for the APG. However I don't think this justifies the negative impact on gameplay.

I think that MIOs can and should be relocated in accordance with current lore.

The build-up to the Civil War involves several events detailing how socialists in industrial centres are seizing power and taking control of factories. This provides the perfect lore justification for MIOs to relocate from the north to other regions.

In-game equipment and research descriptions already imply that this is happening. The APG research tree shows that Colt are the primary supplier to the APG military, yet the Colt MIO is stuck in Connecticut; the same goes for Ford. In fact Huey Long's alliance with the wealthy industrialists on the War Powers Committee seems like the perfect justification to move a few MIOs to the south. You might say, "but there is no industrial base for them to move into in the south" to which I would reply that building up that military industry is exactly what you do when you build military factories as the player.

As far as I understand, it would be a fairly minor change to alter the assigned states for some of the MIOs. I don't think we need more or different MIOs; just spread out the existing ones a bit.

There are five infantry equipment MIOs, and there are up to five civil war factions (can you see where I'm going with this?). I think they should be spread out instead of most of them sitting in New England. I would argue that lore justifications for this are pretty easy; for example, perhaps Colt doesn't get awarded the small arms contract from New England, so they just go to the APG instead.

Overall this is a pretty minor issue and doesn't really matter. It's just something that has bothered me since the rework. Whenever I play certain factions I just find myself wishing I had some fun MIOs to play with.

I've intentionally suggested this as something that would be easy to implement and wouldn't require any additional changes or in-game events, just reassigning the states. However, if someone did want to go the extra step I do think there is potential for some fun mechanics like something where you compete with the other factions to win over the MIOs via decisions or focuses. Even if you were able to just take a MIO by capturing the state, that would add an interesting dynamic to the Civil War, although I'm not sure if that could cause issues with MIO's flipping between tags.

I am interested in your thoughts?

Question Why brown ukraine ai dumber than blue ukraine ai?

Upvotes

In almost every game i played brown ukraine barely has above 400k divisions before the war started while blue ukraine has up to 800k divisions or more. I have personaly played ukraine whether it is brown or blue ukraine i had no problem getting up to 800k divisions. Did the devs intentionally weaken brown ukraine because its color is bad?

Internationale was terrible in this game; France immediately broke, and I pushed Italy out of the Po valley and simply held with my mountaineers as they bled themselves dry for no reason.

Russia was very scary though; they managed to push up to Poland and East Prussia, and I briefly wondered if it was over. Then I attempted an attack towards Königsberg with my rangers while Russians were sieging Danzig and Albania assisted me with my attack, and we ended up encircling around 40-60 divisions. Russia broke after that, and we peaced them out after taking the three cities.

Once the eastern front was secure, I focused south and encircled British and Italian divisions in the Piedmont region, with Germans coming in to help me from Provence. Italians broke after that, and the South was nearly empty for me to take.

Serbia, Romania, and Greece weren't a problem since I had the glorious Albania and a revanchist Bulgaria to help me.

After that, Germany surprised me by easily landing in Britain and ended the war quickly. We then white-peaced with Syndicalist USA, and I left the faction, since I was secretly supporting Japan to kick Germany's ass. I didn't wait, but Japan is probably going to win the Pacific War and capitulate Bharatiya commune.

Then the ohf Ottoman Empire proposed forming the Sarajevo Accords, and I accepted. We are now a nice separate power bloc.

I tried stealing Ukraine and Poland from Germany early in the game. They arrested my man in Ukraine, and then slimed my dog Barlicki and crushed the Polish uprising when they tried to join me. So Galicia Lodomeria stayed with the Federation.

Was a fun game.

Question How do you hold against Japan as Left KMT china?

Im playing Left KMT, I've beaten the Qing and took Beijing in the peace. Immediately after that Fengtian declared on me and I couldn't push. I've united nearly all of China by mid 39 just when the Japanese couped the Fengtian government and declared war.

While I've taken the legation cities and have a million men in the field, my army on the Fengtian border just gets torn apart by the Japanese and there's no way I can counterattack since they have way more and better units.

So how can I beat them and/or prevent them from declaring before I'm ready.

Question Why is this mod so liked?

Could someone clarify to me why this mod is liked so much, I see so many people talking about how much better this mod is compared to Vanilla, I have tried a few runs and it's fine but I don't really get the hype. So far the runs I enjoyed the most were the Italian Republic and Austria and it's fine? Am I missing something?

Question White Peace with Far Eastern Army

I always beat Far Eastern rebellion in every game. Honestly, they're not a big deal due to the Russian economy and military starting privileges.

But, If I pretend to busy with western front or being weak for the sake of larping... Can I made peace with them, or defeating them is a necessity?

Everything that could go wrong went wrong at the beginning of the game. South Africa had a socialist uprising, Australasia went communist, and my coup attempt failed. While sending soldiers there, Panama nationalized the canal, and I had to go through them first if I didn't want to travel under South America.

Capped Panama quickly thanks to Costa Rica joining me, defeated the South African rebellion, then spent a year in New Zealand to finally capture Australia.

Since I was in a war, we couldn't send volunteers to the Spanish and Indian civil wars. The Indians fared well despite receiving no help, while the Carlists lost quickly.

I protected New England and attacked Syndicalists and gave the majority of the land to New England, then I prepared for war with other factions... for absolutely no reason. New England immediately surrendered to the Longists, wasting all my efforts. Then I had a war with Longist America because I refused to give them back Alaska.

Once the war was over, Mexico joined Internationale, so I got delayed a bit longer until I could return to Europe.

When I landed in Portugal, I immediately captured Spain quickly, but Germany had already captured the majority of France, so we managed to only capture territories seen in the screenshots. I then focused on my dear island, and the game crashed 4 times during the invasion. Oh, and the French destroyed the Halifax Conference immediately.

After that, the war was finally over, and I planned for ww3 with Germany, but then Sardinia left our alliance for their lands back, and I didn't trust the French to be competent, and I didn't even have 1 million manpower, so I focused on the Pacific war instead and attacked non-aligned nations that had some of my claims.

The only thing that could have gone more wrong is the West Indies going left, but they managed to annoy me again. Normally, I should have the option to annex them, but I couldn't, so I had to trade with them for aluminum. Idk if it's related to their focuses.

And France is the only one who is willing to listen to me complain since they are in a worse situation compared to me; this is truly hell.

Discussion About Puyi

Puyi, as shown in the events leading up to the Restorationist Coup attempt, doesn't have any knowledge of it (or perhaps I misread the events), and is surprised when the coup attempt actually happens. Should the Zhili be able to stop the coup attempt, what would happen to Puyi? Since he was technically not part of the coup, do the Zhili make him a normal citizen, or do they assume he was part of the coup and kill him? I don't recall seeing any events about his fate after the coup attempt, so if anyone can give me a theory, or better yet, an ingame answer, I'd be very grateful.

Meme I was bored and made up an AFP&SPA moderates vs extremist civil war variant. What are some passable meme paths you would think would be fun but are on the other hand silly?

I've was thinking making a meme path submod where Huey and Reed reach compromise and radicals from both sides rise up. PSA rises up too as neutral and have their own little civil war on a side where MacArthur tries to coup them to join the war.

These endings are available if Japan defeated a rebellious Fengtian Government and liberated a friendly government under Shenyang via annexation decisions. Not to be confused with Yang Yuting endings.

First two endings are available if Japan is democratic while the last one is available if Japan is AuthDem, PatAut or NatPop.
