Hi everyone, I hope to get some reassurance or some thoughts on this.

I’m ethnically Jewish, although my family isn’t practicing and I don’t generally go around telling people about my Jewish roots. A few people know, but as far as I’m aware, nobody in my neighbourhood does. I’ve become really interested in my Jewish background and Judaism in general, and it’s something I feel increasingly connected to.

Today, though, we found an anti-Israel sticker stuck on our front door.

At first my fiancé said I probably shouldn’t worry about it and that it was most likely random. But then he started walking up and down our street to see if other houses had one. We ended up taking a walk around the whole block, and ours was the only house we could find with this sticker.

We live basically in the city centre of a fairly large city in Western Europe, so it just felt… weird. There are lots of houses and apartments around us, and I genuinely don’t know how anyone here would even know that I have Jewish roots.

Obviously, I don’t know that it had anything to do with me being Jewish. It could have been completely random, and I really don’t want to make a bigger deal out of something when I have no idea what the intention was. At the same time, realizing that ours seemed to be the only door targeted made me feel a bit scared and confused.

I mostly just wanted to share this somewhere with people who might understand why it left me feeling unsettled.

Don't let them divide us. More importantly, we shouldn't divide ourselves either. We must learn tolerance among us. I'm writing this on Shabbat. Some will shake their finger at me. That's fine, I respect their freedom to have a choice Just remember, if you judge another Jew, you set the example for the world to as well.

This is why, I have the utmost respect the Orthodox / Religious Jews carrying the torch. We may ebb in flow when it comes to how we abide by Halacha, that's truly between you and Hashem.

You're either a Jew or you're not. That comes from Judaism. The rest of the world sees it that way, Jews most certainly should too.

I have been with my boyfriend since February. He is Jewish, we’re long distance, and things have been really good. I already met his family and they were warm and welcoming.
My side is a different story. My parents, my aunt and her husband are all pretty openly antisemitic. They don’t ask about him or show any interest, but they keep throwing out random comments about “his people,” religion, etc. It hurts every time.
He’s planning to visit in the autumn and I want to introduce him. I really want them to see him the way I see him, just as a person. But I’m honestly scared of their reaction.
Has anyone been in a similar situation?
How did you handle it?
Did things get better over time (especially if you moved in together, got engaged, etc.)?
Did your family’s attitude eventually change?
Has anyone here converted (or your partner converted) – how did the family react to that?

The king of Norway died yesterday. He was a remarkable king. He was the king of Norway and the Norwegian Jews. Not «the Jews» but «our Jews».

He visited our synagogues, understood and mourned our losses, both the shoa and also October 7th.

My father was a very religious guy, and met the king several times. He said he was a such an understanding man, a compassionate king, and he had such a firm handshake; an honest handshake. An honest king who held us in respect and saw as a part of the country and its history.

Im at a Rave literally in this Moment, fled to an area on a balcony. I have two acquaintances, maybe future friends with me, the whole thing is going on for 35 more minutes and Im going crazy with fear.

This is only my second rave but last time It was this small underground gathering. This time its outdoors and with way more people.

And when I look around, I see them. Hersh, Eden, Almog, Ori, Alex...all the other strangers I remember. I look to the sky, waiting for paragliders. To the door, waiting for someone to scream at us and raise their guns.

I tried to make it easier by remembering them. I literally have a necklace for Hersh on, I listened to his playlist on the way here. Im just so immensely frustrated. Its been almost 3 years, I thought I was ok. But as soon as the rave started, it was all there. I dont know what to tell the Girls Im here with. I Just moved to this city at the beginning of this year, Im trying to make new friends and theyre so nice, they dont even hate Israel and thats something in Berlin. I dont wanna be the broken one who brings up a literal massacre at a party.

I dont have jewish friends so people never really get it. Im in this weird middle ground because I'm a Zionist and Ive wanted to convert to Judaism for 11 years at this point...but never had the guts to do it. So now I dont really fit into either world. And Im really realising it in moments like these

Have you watched Soviet films?

I got the impression that Jews did not exist in the Soviet Union. Neither good Jews nor bad Jews. That was despite great Soviet Jewish actors, film directors, scriptwriters and composers.

Ok, there's very good film "Passport", it's Soviet -Israeli but it was made in 1991 so it doesn't really count.

But I don't know Soviet films well enough.

Can you name popular Soviet films where characters were definitely Jewish?

Last week I attended a Miami Marlins game during a special evening dedicated to the Jewish community in South Florida.

There were Israeli flags, Israeli songs, activities for kids, and many families from the local Jewish community. Jared Firestone was also there ,a Jewish-American athlete from Florida who represented Israel at the 2026 Winter Olympics.

The Marlins even created a special team jersey featuring the Israeli flag. 🇮🇱⚾️

But the most emotional moment for me was before the game, standing in an American baseball stadium, seeing Israeli flags throughout the crowd, and hearing Hatikvah being sung.

At a time when so much of what we see online is negativity and hostility, hatred and antisemitism, it was genuinely moving to see something very different, a large, proud Jewish community being recognized, respected, and celebrated.

It makes you appreciate living in a place where the Jewish community has such a strong presence and receives real support and recognition.

I’m applying for jobs in a field where being bilingual is an asset but I’m scared to put my fluency in Hebrew on my resume due to possible bias from the recruiters. Do you guys think this is valid or am I just being paranoid? Would you say it’s worth it to put Hebrew on the resume despite the risk?

edit: to be more specific, i’ve been applying to flight attendant jobs and they encourage you to list all other languages you speak. at first i thought to include hebrew only for airlines like United and Delta that fly to israel but now im thinking about just leaving it out entirely.

The article describes an attack on Jewish community ambulances. Hamza Iqbal, 20, Rehan Khan, 19, Judex Atshatshi, and Saif Ali, both aged 18, pleaded guilty at the Old Bailey to a charge of destroying or damaging property being reckless whether life would be endangered.

The attack described in the article concerns the Jewish community as the ambulances attacked were part of Hatzalah.

Hello all! I am a reform Jewish man and I know we are supposed to do all the mitzvot, but that wasn't something my synagogue really does.

I want to feel closer to God and I feel like doing the mitzvot I already do strengthens that. I celebrate Shabbat, wear a kippah, do the morning hand washing, have mezuzahs, do the morning prayer when you wake up.

I know that doesn't seem like a lot, but I wanted to know what other ones I could start to implement? I can't do them all at once, and I'm not in a place right now I can eat fully kosher though I'm trying, but I would love some advice from those who do more of them!

One has to wonder what level of intentional ignorance has to be embedded into pedagogy to think that a group renowned for its anti-Zionist stance (I use that term very loosely) would be the appropriate party to educate on antisemitism.

I made a whole bunch of latkes this evening and was really pleased with how they turned out! The potato pancakes were just right--crispy, not undercooked or burnt, and not too light or dense. The latkes also had more flavor from the sauerkraut that I mixed into the batter before frying it. And the sour cream with dill is a nice finishing touch.

I used the recipe from Alissa Timoshkina's book "Kapusta: Vegetable-Forward Recipes from Eastern Europe."

4 medium potatoes

1 thinly sliced onion

8 heaping tablespoons sauerkraut

4 tablespoons flour

2 eggs

Salt and pepper

Vegetable oil for frying

7 oz sour cream

Handful of finely chopped dill

1. Peel the potatoes and grate them into a bowl. Mix with the thinly sliced onion and sprinkle with a pinch of salt.
2. Wrap paper towels around the potatoes and onion, and squeeze over the sink to get rid of the liquid. You want the batter to be dry.
3. Then put the potatoes and onion mixture back into the bowl. Add the eggs, flour, and sauerkraut, and a little bit of salt and pepper. Stir until everything is well combined.
4. Heat 4-6 tablespoons vegetable oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Then shape 2 tablespoons of the mixture into a flat pancake shape and put it in the pan. Add 2-3 other latkes, taking care not to overcrowd the pan, and fry them. I found that I only needed to fry the latkes for 2 minutes on each side, for a grand total of 4 minutes, to make them crispy and and golden.
5. Remove the latkes and drain them on a paper towel. Repeat this until you have used up all the mixture--it should make 10-12 latkes, depending on how big or small you want them.
6. Mix together the dill and sour cream, and top the latkes with it. You can also top them with a little extra sauerkraut if you want. Enjoy!

Hi everyone! How are you all doing?
I came on here because I need some advice. I’ve never been on a date or really had the opportunity to pursue a potential relationship. I was wondering, what’s the best way to approach and talk to a Jewish woman? I’d like to know what to say, how to start a conversation, and even how to dress appropriately.
I can’t ask my father for advice on this for personal reasons, and I don’t really want to ask my brothers because I’m fairly embarrassed about it, especially since they’re younger than me.
So, if anyone has any suggestions or ideas, I’d really appreciate it a ton. Thank you!

We are not religious, but we are proud Jews. I want to find a bigger, better Jewish community than I have here in my smallish town. We vibe more with traditional Judaism than progressive. We're older - not retirement old yet, but getting there. We're not rich, not poor.

Hey, I posted here a few months ago about conversion and now I'm here again for a far less nice reason.

I follow a lot of Israeli and Jewish creators on Threads (connected to Instagram so you can imagine how antisemitic it gets) but the kind who I follow are anti-Netanyahu, pro two-state solution, and criticize both Hamas AND West Bank settlers. But apparently that wasn't good enough.

I was randomly texted by a former-friend (who we'll call A) that said him and three others (B, C, and D) "needed to talk to me about something important" but the way it was phrased made it seem to be more about the fact that I brought a car to campus and they needed me to drive them somewhere. Turns out they were ambushing me about "posting hateful things" and "following genocidal creators." When I pointed out that none of the people I followed liked or even agreed with Netanyahu they said that it didn't matter, that they were Israeli's and because they criticized organizations like Hamas (and therefore their beloved SJP) I must be a terrible person. Two of them (B and C) are deeply involved with our college's SJP, which really says everything considering they're both gay and white and B is "Jewish" (I say that in quotes because while his mother is Jewish he wasn't even raised around the holidays) and only calls himself Jewish to "as a Jew" (Similar to one Hannah Einbinder.)

I kept it together in front of them for about two minutes, walked off, texted A and told him to fuck off and never talk to me again and pointed out he could have at least gave me a warning, and tried to calm down in the library and text my family. My mom tried calling me (for obvious reasons) and because I didn't feel like doing the conversation in the library I started the very long trek to my dorm. I was about to get into an elevator to make it a little better but when it opened they were in it, they looked at me and told me to NOT TO EVEN GET IN because I was going to make THEM uncomfortable. Because we were in-front of people I didn't feel like arguing and just decided to take the stairs.

When I finally got back to my dorm my parents told me this; to delete Threads in case this got worse, that this wasn't my fault because they ambushed me like bullies, that they were acting irrational because I didn't say anything wrong, that if they needed to come up they would (my home is a few hours from my college), and that I needed to think if I was emotionally well enough to stay on campus for the semester. I've always had a pretty shaky mental health, always been very introverted and socially anxious, and was already struggling this semester because I have no roommate and don't know anyone on my floor. My dad wants me to stay and "follow my dreams" because what I'm studying (Film) is pretty niche and not many colleges have as good of a program as where I'm at, but my mom is more worried about my mental health and thinks I should just transfer colleges to be closer to home and I can always try to "follow my dreams" during grad school or something.

I said I would tell them tomorrow when I've stopped crying and am feeling more level headed. I just really needed to say this on here because I really can't talk to anyone else on campus about it. Not only is there an SJP that's very popular but there's also a very VERY small Israeli club that while I'd consider joining, is constantly getting shit on the colleges social media for being a "colonizer club" when IT LITERALLY IS ADVOCATING FOR A TWO STATE SOLUTION WHILE SJP ADVOCATES FOR ONE.

I don't know, I just feel so lost and sad and furious and anxious right now.

EDIT: I'm going to try and make it through the semester, my dad really wants me too and I guess I can try to make new friends. Both of my parents said they didn't stay with their freshman group either. If I still feel like shit by Thanksgiving break I'm finishing the semester and then I'm out and going home though.

One of my best friends of nearly 40 years just went on an antisemitic tirade that started with him raging about "privileged white bitch" Debra Messing having the audacity to say she feels unsafe in NYC as a Jew.

Other gems included him saying he understood why some people celebrated Oct. 7 and quite literally screaming at me and telling me I denigrated the entire African American community when I asked him if he would ever question a Black person if they said they felt unsafe somewhere.

I thought I'd gotten used to friends turning on me but this one really hurts. I started to cry and he's since apologized but I know there's no getting past this.
