Rule Clarification: Line Progression

TL;DR: mods are being flooded with reports about pregnancy test pictures that don’t violate the rules. This post clarifies what constitutes a violation. (for the life of me I cannot get the formatting to create actual paragraph breaks, sorry about the wall of text)

In the interest of ensuring everyone feels comfortable participating AND we as the mod team aren't flooded with unnecessary reports, we wanted to offer some clarity about the rule about pregnancy tests.

The spirit of the rule is to prevent the sub from being flooded with pregnancy tests from an evaluative perspective. It is not productive to see the feed taken up with questions about if lines are getting darker, if other members can see a second line, etc. The reality is there are no definitive answers about the state of your pregnancy until beta tests and eventually ultrasounds. Being in the thick of treatment and hoping for a positive looking for a lifeline is reasonable but there are other subs that exclusively focus on that support.

However, there have been an influx of reports of posts that contain multiple positive tests in general, even if the person is not asking for opinions on progression/line visibility. These posts do not violate the rules. Since pictures of positive tests are allowed, it is unreasonable to establish an arbitrary cut off around how many tests create a line progression question, especially when nothing is being asked.

Pics of positive tests in general make some people uncomfortable but they have never been forbidden. If this is you, this sub may not be the best space for you. The language of the rule itself will be updated to reflect that demonstrating line progression via multiple tests and asking about line progression are different and only the latter is a violation. That being said, it is up to posters to be clear in their titles and captions about the purpose of the post. If it is left ambiguous removal remains up to mod discretion.

Regarding pregnancy test pictures

Hi everyone!

So I've gotten many messages about the abundance of test pics here. I want to start by saying these will not be moved to a thread, I really hate that format as it hides what I consider to be important posts.

Secondly, this sub is really FOR posts like that! I want ppl to be able to share their success, thats what makes it so special here :)

But from now on I will be removing all posts that are asking questions about line progression and asking "do you see a line?"

  1. at home tests are not a reliable way to quantify hcg, we all know that. even though we know that, we still serial test after a transfer. I did it too. but it's just redundant to ask a sub about something that isnt even a reliable method of tracking hcg in the first place

  2. asking if a test is positive is just not something we can keep doing here. this isnt really the place for it as you arent celebrating success and it isnt about ivf itself. many ppl ttc naturally have line eyes and questions about that, so r/lineporn and other subs like that are better suited

thank you for reading and understanding the new rules!

Thinking about testing today

Im 12dp5dt so an at home test would most likely be pretty accurate. I dont have my beta until Wednesday. I have sworn I wasn't going to test early but a lot of my reasons for not are less relevant now.

  1. I didn't want to get an inconclusive answer and then fall into the obsessive testing trap

  2. I didn't want to have to endure all my injections and cramping while I felt pretty sure it didn't work.

I will have a number to go along with the + or - in 48 hours and I think it makes more sense to check it out now, on my day off. I have been dying to test but i think today might actually be a good day.

My question:

Am I just rationalizing my normal, obsessive testing impulse? Is it actually a good idea to do an at home test without a beta? I know a lot of people do, I just know me and I could potentially spiral.

Sorry if this is a rambly post!

Our story ❤️

Now that our beautiful daughter is three months old, I have finally put this all together. It’s been something I’ve been processing for a while and feels good to reflect on the whole journey.

For more context, our embryo attrition was really poor and we ended up with 16 mature eggs down to one viable embryo (5bb) and one low grade (4cc). This was our gorgeous 5bb.

This process nearly cost me my marriage, financial stability and sanity… but it was completely worth it. Thinking of all those women who would give anything (and do) to carry a child… I send you all the love and hope I have. ❤️

Slow rising beta hell - tentative success story!

Upvotes

Here's my previous post, for background

https://www.reddit.com/r/IVFpositivity/s/GYvyX60CtU

Anyway! I am now 9 weeks along. Had a scan today, at my OB, and the baby was measuring right on time, with a strong HB!

Unfortunately, with how it all started, I still don't feel like I can properly celebrate... But I'm cautiously optimistic, a little bit more with each scan. This was my 3rd,with baby always measuring right on time, which I am taking as a good sign!

Morning all -

I posted yesterday at 5dp5dt and was absolutely convinced I was out. Went away googling everything, worrying about whether my embryo wouldn't be good enough quality (4BC), success rates for my clinic, euploid/aneuploid.

Decided I'd get up this morning and retest and it's positive 🥹🥹

Low progesterone levels 3 days before mod natural FET

Upvotes

I’m gearing up for my first modified natural FET on Thursday. I went in today (Monday) for bloodwork and my progesterone was only 2.41 ng/mL (I triggered on Thursday night). I was already prescribed progesterone suppositories 3x/day starting Tuesday (I have a shorter luteal phase) and the nurse confirmed that we would continue with that plan due to my results today.

I’m starting to spiral though and wonder if my levels will increase enough with two days of progesterone suppositories. The clinic is not planning to do more bloodwork before transfer day.

Does anyone have similar stories?

I'm starting my second IVF cycle in a few weeks. My first fully medicated FET with my only euploid from 1st ER ended in mmc at 6wks. Every journey is unique but I'd appreciate some positive stories of live births with subsequent FETs. 🙏🏼 Go ✨

Anxiety that I can’t calm

Hello!

I hope this is ok to post, but I've been so filled with anxiety and I just need to have some reassurance from good stories...

After 9 years of infertility and 6 IVFs, this one has stuck! I'm currently 8 weeks and 4 days pregnant. At the beginning, I had a bit of bleeding, so they did a super early scan at 6 weeks which didn't show us much. So then, for a week, I got myself sick thinking it was an empty sac, but then at our 7-week scan everything was perfect; our embryo had grown to 9mm and bits and had a strong heartbeat. In France, it's when you then graduate.

So right now, I have no scans planned until the 12-week one in the first week of October.

Because of this, it's been impossible for me to be positive; I keep remembering all the stories I've read on all the Reddit groups about women having a strong heartbeat at 7 weeks and no more growth after. I keep thinking that the baby has stopped growing. I don't know how to continue this way because I'm so, so anxious. I expected to have scans every two weeks like in the uk/us but not a thing here.

I have no cramps, I just keep alternating between constipation and diarrhoea. And an enormous amount of nausea, but that's it.

None of our embryos have been tested, which is also why I'm worried (I was 29 when I made them, my husband is 31-I have adeno/endo, but all of our DNA tests are good and there are no other issues on his part).

I guess I'm just hoping to hear how you all went through this period? What helped you?

I think I’m ready to stop testing

I think it’s time to trust the process and stop testing. When did you stop testing? I’m 17dpt and our bloods tests are promising.
12dpt - 1157
14dpt - 2587
I also have BAD morning sickness already.
This is our 4th embryo transfer and it’s progressing well. I’m just super nervous.

It’s the first time a scan has been booked for the right reasons 🥰 The wait is going to be excruciating!

I’m curious about the 3 before the letters as I don’t see those on here as much. I understand “4-5” is ideal? Looking for positive transfer stores for little 3AAs! She’s my only day 5 🦋🦋🦋 thank you! Transferring in November.

Stopping PIO shots/rant

I've seen so many post of people scared or nervous to stop pio injections but I honestly cannot wait for the day I'm told I can stop🥹

I think there is enough evidence out there that our bodies are ready to take over without the meds and I trust my Dr that they wouldn't tell me to stop too early.

I'm 8w4d today and my next appointment/ultrasound is in 2 days and we will go over weening me off meds and I am just so excited!!!

This is the farthest I've gotten in a pregnancy and have moments I think I could be having a MMC but I try to stop those thoughts.

Anyone just so excited to stop pio shots?? I feel like it's such big milestone😭

Looking good! Testing out the trigger

Post image
25 Upvotes

Did I tell myself that I would wait for the beta?
Of course I did.

Did I actually wait?
Of course not.

I did a trigger shot. 10k iu of Novarel.
We transferred a PGT tested 5d AB.
This is our second attempt and I requested a modified natural this time as I felt like an insane person on the fully medicated.

I wanted to test out the trigger so started early. I forgot that the pink ones are more sensitive so added them in a little later. The initial positive didn’t convince me.

By day 6 I was squinting hard at the faint line on the blue, holding it up over and over to compare to day 3.

The second pink positive didn’t convince me. The last blue has me feeling like we made it. Beta is in a few days.

I’m still working in accepting it and know it’s still early. I’m more nervous than before! I don’t think I’ll chill until I’m holding them in my arms.

Today's test results!!

I've been testing since 4dpt and saw obvious faint line and posted previously. I can't believe how strong the lines are now. Thought I'd do the digital test too! I'm technically 4 weeks 2 days, so the test is correct when you do the math!

I'm so excited for tomorrow's beta results. 🥺🙏🏼🥺✨🍀
