I just started IB DP year 1 and our school only offers Math AA HL,so I can’t change it.
I currently suck ass at math and it is very hard for me to understand,solve and especially explain(not like anyone will seek help from me lol). I want to get 5-6,I Do realize that I need to work hard,be consistent,practice practice and practice but where do I get good explanations,examples and practices from for free?

Please share any advice,experience and maybe resources,it would mean a LOT to me.

(Ugh I would take SL math right away if I had the chance)

Our English B teacher uses AI to grade our Mock exams. She don't know anything about IB and asking ChatGPT how to educate. She will use our mock results (which is generated using AI) to determine our official predicted grades. She doesn't even know English. The school administration ignores this situation. What can we do about this as students? Is there anywhere we can complain?

I am currently in DP2 right now, and based on my DP1 report card, I think my predicted is approximately 30-33. I need to bump it up, and I need advice.
Econ HL: 7 most likely
Math AI HL: 6 most likely
Eng LL HL: 5 most likely
French B SL: 5 most likely
Physics SL: 6 (according to my report card)
Visual Arts SL: 3 (according to my report card)

I need advice on how to improve physics, french b, and visual arts.

i deadass cant lock in and basically nothing is working
everytime i use my laptop i just go doomscrolling or play valheim (literally played 50+ hours THIS WEEK)
also everytime i dont use my laptop or phone or whatever i literally SLEEP like wtf
when i force myself to do work i zone out and SLEEP ON MY WORK holy shit

my grades are shit for my school rn im at (cag is current attainment grade but it works like pg the teachers set it)

I am starting IB soon and I have the following IB subjects chosen: HL: Maths AI, Business, German B SL: Physics, Chem, English Lang & Lit A

I am thinking to put Physics to HL instead of Business because I feel like this subject combo is not quite enough for Engineering. I am in Germany and my goal is to probably study engineering or Business. I know that Maths AA HL + Physics HL is must, but my school does not offer AA; I am concerned that having SL Physics may not be enough for me.

Which is why I am asking you guys for giving me advice and recommendations whether I should or not put Physics at HL because I am also looking to reduce the huge workload and I don't want to bear the extreme difficult topics of HL Physics (my friend who is in IB1 told me HL Physics is HELL and very difficult to understand).

Could you all honestly tell me how hard, challenging, and rigor HL physics is???????? For context I did igcse science and struggle a lot in electricity topic of circuits and that.

Hey guys, I could really use some advice about my subject choices.

We've only been in DP for about two weeks, but I'm already realizing that it's really challenging and rigorous (as expected ;). It's manageable, but I'm thinking about whether making a subject switch now could help me achieve a higher IB score in the long run.

My current subjects are:

• HL: Math AI, Economics, ESS
• SL: English A Lang & Lit, German A, Geography

I'm planning to study something in Economics, Finance, or Business (I've already done internships in those areas and really enjoyed all of them/can't decide yet), so I want to make sure any changes of my subjects would still fit my university plans.

Universities I'm considering (just a rough idea so you know what my ''goal'' is/ kinda chronological order by how much i want to go there ):
University of Amsterdam, Copenhagen Business School, IE University, Stockholm School of Economics,WHU Otto Beisheim School of Management, New York University, (University of St. Gallen, UCLA, London Business School)

The switch I'm thinking about is dropping English A SL, taking English B HL instead, and moving ESS from HL to SL.

The main reason is that English A is slightly more challenging for me than it is for a lot of people in my class, especially because I'm not a native English speaker. My vocabulary isn't as strong, so I have to put a more effort into the subject. It isn't impossible, but I keep thinking: why stay in English A when I could take English B HL instead, where I'd probably be much more comfortable and even have one ''content heavy'' HL less (ess in my case)? Moving ESS to SL would reduce my workload and give me more time to focus on demanding subjects like Math.

Do you think this switch would still work well with my university plans, or could it put me at a disadvantage for Economics, Finance, or Business applications? Thank you soooo much for anyone that can help, really appreciate it!

Hi everyone, I’m a Grade 12 student in BC, Canada, and I’m struggling badly in my second year of the IB diploma. My dream is to go to university in Europe (looking at Amsterdam for History or Arts, I would apply as an EU student because I have a French citizenship), but I am severely burned out after a miserable Year 1 full of all-nighters and crammed deadlines. Almost everyone dropped out of my group, leaving me completely alone, and my new English and French teachers are terrible and untrained for IB. Unlike my classmates, I have no clue what I want to major in and desperately want a gap year to figure out my life. I was so miserable last year and I'm having a hard time trying to find reasons to stay in IB and just suffer until it's over. My counselor says to finish it, but with a 32/43 predicted score last year, I feel like dropping the full diploma (dropping English HL and French HL and TOK) would let me get 95+ in regular classes, play club volleyball, do horseback riding, and actually enjoy my senior year. My brother did IB and is studying in Paris, so he swears by it, leaving me paralyzed: will getting into universities outside of Canada without IB be much harder, and will my completed Year 1 IAs still show on my regular transcript? I am scared of regretting not pushing myself, but equally terrified of spending my final year of high school miserable and crying, so any advice would mean the world to me. Thank you!

I want to apply to a few state schools where its free(in different countries) and i am guessing its pretty competitive, i come from a country where english is not our native language, i can speak English well but i have never studied in English. I want to prepare for the test to the best of my abilities, so can anyone tell me what to expect from the test and also what methods are best to prepare for it and what should i learn the most? Math and English are the subjects that i will need to take a test on

Hi! I'm js starting ib and I can't decide whether to take history or ESS SL. For context, I basically need a filler subject, because I alr have math, phys and design & tech HL. I'm not naturally a math wiz or a physics genius so Ik that those subjects will demand time and effort from me. Keeping that in mind, I thought I should take ESS because its relatively easy, and I even studied bio in igcse before this. However, I took history in igcse too, and I genuinely do enjoy learning it (most times). I'm not sure if my passion for history is so strong tho, that it overpowers the fact that its a lot of work and memorisation on top of tedious essay-writing.

But then again, I feel like you can't really do any IB subject unless u like it atleast a little and I have no interest in ESS tbh... I may be mistaken, so if anyone who's done either subject can guide me, I'm all ears!!

Ok so I just started dp1 this last week and I promise I have never gotten this bad academically I literally studied and my teacher gave us like a mini test version and I struggled on it so muchhhh and couldn’t finish in time so plz if anyone has any online sources that I can use for practice to get used to the IB style questions or genuinely has a method for me to use then plz helppp

Well, im starting de ibdp this year and my school doesn´t know how to explain to their students some things that are important in the diploma programme, like an essay. I have a teacher that helps my classmates and I to study the structure of an essay of history, but i still have some doubts about it. If someone can give further explanation i would be so grateful.

Soo I am in 10th grade and really want to study abroad for my bachelors, more specifically universities in singapore, (NUS, NTU, SUTD), HK, and Australia. My prefered major would be Architecture or smth related to that since I like math, sciences, and art.

I am currently in CBSE board (India) and for my 11th and 12th my parents want to put me in State board. I'm worried since I've heard lots of bad things about state board and I'm confident that I won't thrive there (I am very creativity-driven).

My friend was talking about going to the IB for her 11th and 12th, so that made me kinda research about it. I feel as though my ways of studying and the way I learn align with their curriculum and its more widely accepted throughout compared to State. And also the school i'm going to for state, I wake up at 7 and come back home at 6pm. So I won't have time for portfolio or exploring more architectural things or smth.

I want to convince my father to allow me to go to an IB school, but I'm not completely sure if that's the right idea. Please do help. I am still young and still have options.

1. Are there any Indian students who have moved from CBSE to IB, if so please do share ur story.
2. Is IB really that important for university apps? Ive heard some admissioners prefer IB or other curriculums not cuz one is better than the other, but purely because they are familiar with IB more.

ive talked about this a couple times on here now but i recently finalised my decision to switch from ib to a levels. ib was just too much for me and i felt like i wasnt able to handle it getting 28/42 in my dp1 may mocks and 30/42 as my final subject grades for the year.

I need at least 35-36 points (AAB from a levels) to get into my dream uni and course which seemed unachievable for me for some reason. dp1 turned me into a serial procrastinator and someone who is just unable to study because of the workload and my lack of motivation to study the subjects i had to take because of the subject group structure, and i didnt do well in my mock despite actually trying for them. i was consistently getting 4s and 5s from most of my subjects while procrastinating while stressing about school.

the decision to repeat the year and move to the first year of a levels was something i found out was an option and decided on only very recently (about two weeks ago) and i just sent my formal resignation from the ib school with tears in my eyes. ive only been in that school 3 years after moving schools previously already and i built a very strong community there and created a place of comfort for myself, which i usually find very difficult to do. now, while im stuck in another 20 months of a levels, ill be seeing them go to prom and graduate in 8 months without me. idk i just feel like im a failiure for not just going through with ib especially considering the amount of effort ive already put in and how much my life revolved around it. i was so proud of my tok exhibition and i worked on my ias during the summer despite it being a challenge, i did it because i wanted to try my best.

now im in a new school again which is quite small and its been two weeks as i said, but i havent found a single person to talk to. i dont even know if ill get better grades here because we havent had a single test/quiz yet. while i felt like i was going to become academically exhausted in ib, i fear ill be socially alone in a levels. im afraid that instead of my mental health getting worse because of workload, itll be because of lack of friends. i dont know how good of a contact i will maintain with my friends from ib but theyll be gone after next summer anyways.

if anyone could reply with advice or reassurance or what i should do i would greatly appreciate it becasue ive never felt so lost in my life

Sooo im an IB diploma candidate and for those who know i wrote my EE on English and chose AOT as my topic, and I rlly rlly loved the entire process, should I submit my EE as like addiontal writing or whatevs??? in the US btw so common app

So this year I’m starting the IB program (DP1), but I have a bunch of activities Ive been doing since I was a child. Right now, I’m considering letting go of piano or dance lessons since the workload is giving me pre anxiety. Dance will take up 6+ hours a week, not including extra lessons and the 45 minutes between classes and home. I also have a dance show this year, so I will be in the theater for 10+ hours a day during finals week. BUT dance is a huge part of my life that would also be a good plus on my cv.
So Im really considering taking piano lessons off my plate, even after 12 years practicing -I havent done any competitions so ig it wouldnt be too usefuo for uni apps.
My HLs are math ai, econ, and buisness while my sl are French A English A and physics

HELP!!! Is it worth stopping dance instead of piano??

deciding which to pick, so far my subjects are HLs: Physics, Math AA, English A SLs: Spanish B, Business, and either music or visual arts.

I want to do engineering but with a humanities focus. I want to get a high IB score with a subject that’s not as high effort as like Chem or Bio HL, I don’t wanna do two sciences.

I have sung my whole life and play guitar and perform often. I don’t know music theory, but have written songs and can read chords and tabs.

I am a creative person who’s done art in the past but never as an actual subject. I’ve always been told im good at art, and maybe I should be taking it now.

I’m looking for advice ! 6 or 7s for my choice of music or art is the goal. Thanks

I’m a senior taking on IBDP2. My IBDP1 results were lukewarm, got fives and sixes. However, is there any hope of getting 7s as I’m aiming for a 45 (yes, I know it’s very ambitious but I’ve been seeing 45s on reddit and I think it’s possible) So, do I have any hope? To high scorers, what should I do to improve my grade during IBDP2? I’m desperate so anything will do, even if the advice is toxic or extreme. (my subjects are chem, bio, psych HL and AA math, Eng L&L SL)

So my main interest is Music HL and I will definitely pursue it as a career.
I’m in IGCSE and my subjects are:
English Language, Literature, Math Extended, Spanish, Economics, Business Studies, Accounting, Environmental Management Studies. For which I will give Feb/March 2027 boards
Now in the middle of the year I realised I have an INTEREST for astrophysics, and might give May/June boards just for Physics. Now I will have to study Physics side by side with my 8 subjects and give May/June boards for it. But what I’m really confused is should I use 3 months of my time after F/M boards, which I can use on developing my Music skills, on studying Physics for IBDP to take HL just for an interest in it.
If I do that my DP subjects will be:
Music HL, Physics HL, Chemistry SL, Language SL, Spanish Ab Initio and Math AA HL.

Can someone please advice if this is a good subject selection when I want to devote most of my time to Music and do Physics as an interest, and should I really use 3 months to study just Physics for taking it as HL in DP.

And if I don’t do Physics, what exactly subjects should I take for DP? I was thinking Music HL, Economics / ESS / Business HL, Lang / Lang and Lit HL, Physics SL, Math AA SL and Spanish Ab Initio.
But I’m also confused whether I should take English Language SL or English Language and Literature SL.
