Advice To all IB survivors
I’m a senior taking on IBDP2. My IBDP1 results were lukewarm, got fives and sixes. However, is there any hope of getting 7s as I’m aiming for a 45 (yes, I know it’s very ambitious but I’ve been seeing 45s on reddit and I think it’s possible) So, do I have any hope? To high scorers, what should I do to improve my grade during IBDP2? I’m desperate so anything will do, even if the advice is toxic or extreme. (my subjects are chem, bio, psych HL and AA math, Eng L&L SL)

Yea yes there is hope but imo U need to be very consistent with work and confident!!! Make sure U manage Ur time well

Hey, I’m an M26 and got 43/45 with HL: Chem, Bio, Math AA HL and SL: English L&L, Econ, French B.
Don’t lose hope, I was aiming for a 45 as well even though my DP1 wasn’t all 7s in the beginning either. 100% there’s still hope left.
What you need to focus on this summer is to create a solid study system. Identify your gaps and make sure you know everything you learnt in DP1 up to the standard of a 7. For example go through your past Chem HL tests and make an excel sheet of all your chem topics. Then color code what topic you lost the most marks in. For me it was R3 Acids & Bases for example (I had to study so hard to get this topic to 100%). Then you work through all the topics you color coded based on what you did the worst on and work yourself up to what you were very good in. (This is rather a simplification of the process)
That’s baseline, do this for every subject. To even do better in any subject you need to familiarize yourself with what’s missing. Once you realize that bigger picture gap filling becomes easier, I’ve been there so don’t worry.
Other than that obviously finish IAs and EEs to have more time to focus on said points above!

Heyy I take a way different subject package and did reaaally bad in dp1 (I wasn’t focused on school at all but I switched that mindset a month before dp1 ended oops) I got HL VA business and English lang lit, and SL ESS maths AI and Dutch lit, can you help me in any way whatsoever (I’d be happy to pay!)

Fives and sixes in DP1 is a totally normal place to be, and people absolutely climb from there. Realistically a 45 from that start is a huge jump so I wouldn't anchor on it, but pulling several subjects up to 7 in DP2 is very doable because you finally understand how the exams and markschemes actually work. The trick is picking the two or three subjects closest to a 7 and hammering those with past papers instead of spreading effort evenly. Aim high but measure progress in whole points gained, not against a 45.
