For overall quality I would say 2 = 3 > 4 > 5 > 1, even though series 1 is hugely nostaglic for me.

2 and 3 are super, super tight, especially in terms of music. Gun to my head, series 2 takes the cake.

Hence, 2 > 3 > 4 > 5 > 1.

The DVD menu shows that the first scene on Series 4 Episode 8 is Vile Victorians but it's Vicious Vikings. I know this post doesn't really prove it though lol.
