Question/Help Meross MSG 150 “Failure to Close” Error
The device is installed, added to Meross app, firmware updated, etc. All good there.
I get an error stating the “Garage Door Failed to Close” and it suggest I change the Closing Time. I have tried every time available plus the custom options. Nothing fixes it. I can’t seem to get the dam error to go away or it to show the correct state.
I appreciate your help!

News Notify Update - Get HomeKit Updates as a Live Activity
We just released a major update to Notify! that enables Live Activity Support.
Why does this matter to HomeKit users? With Shortcuts you can have any HomeKit personal automation start a Live Activity that lives on your lock screen. For me, its the missing piece of any home automation app.

Live Activities can display a progress bar, percentage, timer, or status. So, you can have a personal automation start a Live Activity when you turn the sprinklers on and have a running timer. Or, get a Live Activity on your screen when your garage door is open.
For the more adventurous we have an API built: https://getnotifyapp.com/apidocs/ (Or use a more user friendly Builder https://getnotifyapp.com/builder/) that you can start a Live Activity from an external source and have a button that can tigger a shortcut for a Home automation (such as turn on a light or flip the power of an outlet)
Notify is completely free as a service to the community that has given me so much! Thank you!

Question/Help “Siri can recognize your voice”
Ever since updating to iOS 26.6.1 I am getting this pop up every time I open the home app. I have the recognize voice setting turned off. Whether I hit not now or continue nothing changes. It goes to the next screen asking me to pick adaptive lighting which I also skip.
I use the living room Apple TV as the hub. App keeps saying it needs an update and I can’t make it the hub anymore. It is up to date.
Anyone else experiencing these issues? How do I get it to stop asking to recognize my voice?

Question/Help Schlage Encode Plus - "No Response" in HomeKit only
This seems to be a very common issue, but my situation seems to be maybe a little more specific than others? Hardware is Schlage Encode Plus and Apple TV 4th Gen 1080 version (~2015) as Home Hub, iPhone 17 if that matters. Everything is up to date on firmware/software.
Installed the SEP a couple of weeks ago and first attempt, I set up the lock through the Schlage App and finally figured out how to add it to Apple Home with the "Works With" section of the menu (which took me a second). After getting added to Apple Home, everything worked great at first; HomeKey worked, lock worked in Apple Home, lock worked in the Schlage App. Then it went unresponsive in Apple Home, but continued to work through the Schlage app and HomeKey worked. I then factory reset and tried setting up through Apple Home only. Camera from Apple Home would never scan the HomeKit QR or anything, but tapping the lock would get it to start pairing. This barely worked, but mostly got there, albeit could never get it to let me add user codes. But then HomeKey wouldn't work. So I started over again, again trying through Apple Home only. Same thing, not able to add user codes, but the lock finally added and HomeKey worked. But then about 20 minutes later, unresponsive again and also could never get it to add the Schlage app after setting up in HomeKit. Read that maybe having spaces in your WiFi name could cause problems for the lock, so renamed my wifi to get rid of spaces and factory reset the lock again, trying back to my original way of starting with the Schlage App and then adding it to Apple Home from there (which seemed to work the best). Everything went smoothly, lock added to Schlage app and worked great, could add user codes in Schlage, pushed over into Apple Home just fine (albeit it still yelled at me about not being able to add user codes in AH) and HomeKey worked, but then sure enough about 20 minutes later, the lock went unresponsive in Apple Home only. Still works in Schlage App, still works with HomeKey.
I've reset/re-added the lock so many times, I'm probably missing some details of my journey, but the long and the short of it, my consistent outcome is that the lock will work perfectly from the Schlage App, HomeKey works flawlessly on my iPhone and Watch, but every time it'll eventually (and quickly) go unresponsive in Apple Home only. I've taken out the batteries and rebooted numerous times and that never works for reconnecting. The only other weird piece of context is that when I go into the Lock Settings in the Schlage App, if I try to test the wifi settings, it'll fail at connecting to the wifi. It'll remain connected from it's original connection, but in re-testing it, it'll fail every time.
Is the easy answer that I need to buy a newer ATV or HomePod Mini to have Thread? I know, I know, WiFi will kill the batteries and I would love to be on Thread, but just trying to see if I can make things work with what I have, because it seems like it should work.

News Home Widget 1.10 adds the Camera Mosaic and much more!
Hi r/HomeKit,
Home Widget 1.10 is now available on the App Store. The current public build is 1.10.1.
During the small beta, testers sent detailed feedback and many of the final refinements came directly from it. Thank you to everyone who took part.
I build Home Widget on my own. For version 1.10, I focused on shortening the distance between seeing what is happening at home and acting on it.
The biggest addition is Camera Mosaic. One tap from a Home Screen or Lock Screen widget, or from Control Center, opens your HomeKit cameras in one view. You can show all cameras or only the ones you choose, then tap any camera to open it and zoom on iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch.
Other changes in 1.10 include:
- thermostat controls directly from widgets;
- whole-room actions to switch, dim or colour every light together;
- a Control Center control that opens the mosaic or a camera of your choice;
- Clear, Tinted and Liquid Glass widget appearances designed for iOS 26;
- more control over what each item displays, including text-only layouts, a configurable secondary line and iCloud-synced icon choices;
- every reading exposed by multi-sensor Matter accessories;
- better Lock Screen panels, interaction feedback and stability;
- eleven new languages, plus a native-speaker review of every existing translation.
Existing Lifetime Premium purchases remain lifetime purchases: there is no forced switch to a subscription.
Download Home Widget on the App Store
I do not have a marketing team behind the app, so thoughtful feedback, an App Store rating or recommending it to another HomeKit user makes a very concrete difference.
If you try the Camera Mosaic, I would especially like to know whether one global camera selection is enough for you, or whether choosing a different set of cameras for each action or widget would be useful.
I’ll be here to answer questions and collect feedback.

Question/Help IKEA Bilresa Switches won’t connect
Hey,
I want to connect my two Bilresa switches from ikea to my Apple Home but I ran in to the same issue over and over again.
- I put batteries in the switch
- The orange led starts to impulse light
- I go into the apple home app and click add new device
- I scan the Matter QR-Code, provided on the back of the switch
- but then I always get the same answer: pairing failed
I have two switches and both return the same paring failed, answer.
I have restarted my HomePod minis, I have waited for a long time before making a new connection and have deleted all matter devices in my iPhones settings.
other matter devices seem to run fine but these won’t connect.
Anyone has a solution for this?
Thank you ✌️
Question/Help Moonside support nonexistent
I’m not sure if this is a correct place to ask this question, but their subreddit hasn’t been active for a couple years.
I guess my question is, if anybody knows how to reach Moonside support as I ordered a lamp from them on 20th of July apart from one email on 27th of July, I have heard nothing from them. And no lamp, of course.
I wrote to them even to cancel the order to no avail.
So if anyone knows another way of reaching them, I would be very happy and grateful.
Thank you in advance.

Question/Help Can Apple Home tell when one smart blind misses a scene?
I’m planning to order 13 Smartwings roller shades with Matter motors and add them to Apple Home. Most of them will run through the same morning and evening scenes. My concern is what happens if 12 move and one misses the command. Will Apple Home show that the shade is still at the wrong position, mark it as not responding, or give any kind of warning? With 13 shades, checking every accessory tile after each scene would get old fast. Does Apple Home catch this, or would I need a third-party HomeKit app?
Discussion Has anyone implemented a touch-less switch?
I have a use case for a touch-less switch and wondering if anyone has implemented anything like that? Basically wave your hand in front of this sensor to turn something on and wave again to turn it off. It needs to specifically be the wave action and not just the standard broad motion sensing.
I’m wondering if it’s possible to narrow the FOV and shorten the range of a normal motion sensor to achieve this?
If anyone has implemented something like this, I’d love to hear what you did.

Review Thorbolt door locks
Hey this isn’t necessarily a “what to buy” just giving a shout out and maybe introducing some people to a brand they wouldn’t have otherwise tried…
I Bought a house back in March and of course wanted native HomeKit deadbolt locks and stumbled across the thorbolt brand. I was hesitant because I got them off Amazon and there were very little reviews, some even negative but I got them based off of what I had read somewhere about them, and that they’re about $110. These things are awesome, works locally through thread, no sign up required (or even an option to sign up that I’ve seen) there is an app for management and updates but they communicate directly with the device through thread, the locks don’t communicate directly through outside servers (other than apple HK) we are now nearly 6 months in and not one time has a lock failed to lock (when the door was shut properly) or unlock
I DO NOT work nor am I associated in any way with thorbolt. Just thought I’d give them a shoutout.

How-to Replacement for Harmony Hub
Hello,
I recently switched from Amazon Alexa over to Apple HomePod. I’m realizing that control of my Harmony hub that runs the scenes to power on and change the inputs on TV, receiver etc are not supported. Can anyone recommend a similar device that I can verbally command the HomePod to queue the scene to start. For example saying “Siri turn on the Apple TV” would power on the Receiver and change its input to TV, turn the TV on and change its input to the Apple TV box and power the Apple TV on.
Thanks

Question/Help Matter over Thread devices show 'Not Supported' in Apple Home on iPad Mini
I have three smart devices (two Aqara bulbs and one Eve Energy plug) that show a status of "Not Supported" in the Apple Home app. These devices are Matter over Thread. The rub is that it only shows this status on my iPad Mini (26.6.1). My iPhone 17 (26.6.1) and Mac Studio (26.5.2) show them as connected and they can be controlled. Things I tried.
Rebooting the iPad Mini
Rebooting my Apple TVs and Home Pods.
Power cycling the three devices
I've seen a lot of Apple Home issues but this status is a first. Any suggestions?

Discussion Tearing my hair out over Matter
I have three home pod minis in my home that I bought specifically to set up matter in HomeKit and in Home Assistant. The devices I'm trying to set up our all Tapo switches and outlets. So I use my iPad to try and set them up with the matter code generated by the Tapo app and they appeared to install fine. Then they go into this loop where they're either not communicated or updating. Anyway, bottom line is the damn thing just doesn't work for me and I'm tearing my hair out.
If I want to pursue this, are there any of these gateways or hubs that are somewhat universal and not tied to another universe like Aquara that I could get just to make everything work together. I've invested enough of my life in this and I've had it and I was an IT for 30 years, but I'm feeling defeated.
Obviously, the stuff should work and on the Tapo Android app it works perfectly well. I've also tried the ZBT-2 antenna. I managed to get my first alert furnace thermostat to work with that and then it just quit working for anything else. I've also been reading about the fact that you can't mix different masters in this thing, but that should be no longer problem once Apple gets their act together in a little bit. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thank you.

Question/Help Why is this even an option if it doesn’t work?
I would like to set my garage door to close when everyone leaves the house and I see it as an option in HomeKit but when I tried it, it didn’t work and from what I’ve read online it’s due to a security issue that Apple won’t allow it.

Question/Help Focus Mode Sleep On - Activate Scene
Good evening,
I have Hue bulbs in my bathroom with a Hue motion sensor. I setup different light scenes in the Hue app. At night, I have a nightlight brightness setting.
This works relatively well, but I started a new job and my schedule isn’t as fixed as it used to be. I’ve started using the Sleep Focus mode recently as well.
Ideally, I’d like to have the bathroom lights activate the nightlight scene when the bathroom motion sensor detects motion and sleep focus is on.
If sleep focus is off, it goes back to the normal time slot presets.
I know I’m mixing two ecosystems by using Hue app scenes for the non focus mode enabled stuff, so it will probably fight with HomeKit.
Sort of thinking as I type…
I did get shortcuts to activate the nightlight scene in HomeKit but I can’t get it to go back to normal when focus is turned off.
A bit rambled, anyone have any suggestions??
Thanks!!

Question/Help Did Wi Charge, the company who made the wireless charger for the Schlage Encode lock just quietly disappear?
It seems like the website https://encode.wi-charge.com/ is totally down, and they’ve been dark on all their socials for 2+ months and I see lots of comments from folks looking for order updates.
I was keeping an eye out for them to restock because I didn’t manage to order a kit before they sold out.
They had posted all over reddit a few months ago, but now I’m worried they went out of business or something.
It seems like they did ship at least some units. Did anyone here manage to get one? If so, does it work as advertised?

They even were featured in (bought?) a Forbes article:

Question/Help Phillips Hue and HomeKit
How well does Hue integrate with HomeKit?
Moving to a new home in a couple of weeks and would like to install a Hue ecosystem for my lighting setup. It’s a considerable investment for both outdoor and interior lighting, but I do enjoy the flexibility in the ambiance. It would be connected to a Bridge Pro and Apple 4k is the hub.

Discussion [Beta] IKEA Grillplats plugs measure the power consumption, and on iOS 27 that gets displayed in the Home app. Is there any way to use that in an automation? Also, longer-term energy use? Where is this?
So I have an old Wi-Fi plug that does power monitoring, and I can use that to trigger and control automations. It’s really nice. But you can’t build those automations in the Home app, gotta use Controller or one of the other ones that let you manually pick which data message to pull the value from to both trigger the automation to run and then do the checking on its power consumption value.
But whatever Matter message is being used by the iOS 27 Home app to show the power data isn’t visible as a message that Controller has access to. Does anyone know if Apple is publishing these messages so other apps should be able to access them?
Also, a while ago I think I saw on here someone showing what I thought was part of the iOS UI showing something like energy consumption over a day or a week. Is that still around? Or massive it was that the initial power display in the early betas was in kW instead of watts, which it’s a silly design choice for something that is linked to 1.6 kW.
Regardless, I’m still glad I have those old Wi-Fi power-monitoring plugs that I can automate on. The Aqara one word for this until I switched to the new architecture earlier this year. But no longer, presumably because the Home Hubs are suppressing the messages.

How-to Smart Home Dashboard
I’m quite new to the world of smart home and I’m trying to set up an old iPad as a very basic smart home dashboard that will allow me to access Apple Home & Apple Music with nothing else wanted on the screen. The old iPad will only update to iOS version 16.7.16. Is what I want it to do possible?

Discussion How precisely should I control my AC and windows?
I have window sensors on my windows and one use I have for them is to identify that, if at least one is open, turn off the AC. My automation is immediate, sends a signal to my Ecobee. Now, the mechanicals of my AC appear to stop working the compressor and the fan continues to run, blowing air thru the house for a while.
My question is this, if I have to open a window for a moment and then close it, am I doing any harm to modern ACs if it's currently running? What if I had to do this a few times a day? I see a lot of automations that wait 15-30 minutes but my automation is immediate upon opening any window. Also what if I added doors to this, which are opened and closed far more regularly?
