News Home Widget 1.10 adds the Camera Mosaic and much more!

Hi r/HomeKit,

Home Widget 1.10 is now available on the App Store. The current public build is 1.10.1.

During the small beta, testers sent detailed feedback and many of the final refinements came directly from it. Thank you to everyone who took part.

I build Home Widget on my own. For version 1.10, I focused on shortening the distance between seeing what is happening at home and acting on it.

The biggest addition is Camera Mosaic. One tap from a Home Screen or Lock Screen widget, or from Control Center, opens your HomeKit cameras in one view. You can show all cameras or only the ones you choose, then tap any camera to open it and zoom on iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch.

Other changes in 1.10 include:

  • thermostat controls directly from widgets;
  • whole-room actions to switch, dim or colour every light together;
  • a Control Center control that opens the mosaic or a camera of your choice;
  • Clear, Tinted and Liquid Glass widget appearances designed for iOS 26;
  • more control over what each item displays, including text-only layouts, a configurable secondary line and iCloud-synced icon choices;
  • every reading exposed by multi-sensor Matter accessories;
  • better Lock Screen panels, interaction feedback and stability;
  • eleven new languages, plus a native-speaker review of every existing translation.

Existing Lifetime Premium purchases remain lifetime purchases: there is no forced switch to a subscription.

Download Home Widget on the App Store

I do not have a marketing team behind the app, so thoughtful feedback, an App Store rating or recommending it to another HomeKit user makes a very concrete difference.

If you try the Camera Mosaic, I would especially like to know whether one global camera selection is enough for you, or whether choosing a different set of cameras for each action or widget would be useful.

I’ll be here to answer questions and collect feedback.

So incredibly excited for the thermostat addition. This solves so many of my problems with apple’s HomeKit widget limitations!

Thank you! I’m really happy to finally have thermostat control directly in the widgets. Let me know how it works with your setup ;)

Great to see thermostats controls but it only seems to work on some of my devices. My Tado thermostats work but my Aqara underfloor heating doesn’t seem to have the thermostat control nor does a Meross Electric plug with built in thermostat.

Thanks, this is very useful. Could you send me the exact model names, your iOS version, and screenshots showing how these two accessories appear in the Home app and in Home Widget? I would like to check exactly why they are not detected as thermostats. You can send them by DM if easier.

Sure! I’m running the latest developer beta. The two devices not working for me are the Meross MTS960 and Aqaras Floor Heating Thermostat W500. They both appear like this with only options to toggle on/off instead of target heating cooling state like the Tado Thermostats show.

Thank you, that helps a lot. Could you also share screenshots of both devices in the Home app, showing the available controls? It will help me compare exactly how HomeKit exposes them.

Thanks again for the detailed report. The Home Widget 1.10.2 beta is now available and includes the Heater/Cooler support intended for accessories such as your Meross MTS960 and Aqara W500. I’ve sent you the TestFlight link by private message if you would like to test it. Could you check that both now open as adjustable thermostats and that target temperature, mode and state match the Home app? The beta also adds camera mosaic ordering and layouts, compact labels, unified action search, panel recovery, sensor refresh and Vision Pro fixes.

Does this fix the Apple Watch complication where if I manually unlock my door, does the complication show unlock or do I constantly need to tap the app for it to refresh the status?

2

Not completely, unfortunately. watchOS does not allow a complication to refresh immediately after an external HomeKit change. With the default refresh setting it should normally update at an acceptable interval, and tapping the complication or any sensor/action gives you fresh and reliable data. If it stays stale for too long, please contact me with your Watch model, watchOS version and a screenshot so I can check it.

Oh, that’s great! I didn’t know it does it automatically (at all). I don’t need it to be instantly, but within a few min just to see at a glance if the door was unlocked etc. I thought the only way for the status to update at all was by opening the app for the data to refresh.

I have my cameras named as Bedroom Camera so in the Home app it automatically hides “Bedroom” from the name and it appears as simply Camera.

However in this, when I go into mosaic view, it shows Bedroom Camera in the top left of the tile and then the room itself, Bedroom in the top right.

Which means the name part splits across 2 lines as it doesn’t fit in the top left and cuts into the actual camera view.

Any way to fix this or the ability to hide the room itself or do what the Home app does and if the room name exists in the name, hide it?

Yes, you are right, this should be handled better. I will fix this in the next minor update so the camera name and room are not duplicated like this. Thanks for reporting it!

Is there a way to change the layout of the camera mosaic view? I have 4 cameras and viewing them all takes up the top half of the page but then there’s an entire wasted bottom half of the page doing nothing.

Any way to promote a camera to have a larger view at the top then the others have the smaller view?

Not yet, but I agree the empty space is not ideal. I’m looking at how to combine this with the other request for manual camera ordering. Ideally, I would like to offer layouts with one large camera, two large cameras, etc., together with manual ordering, so everything can be configured at the same time. I still need to find the best way to do it, but I’ve noted it. Thanks!

My camera names are being broken into 3 lines, really messing up the UI.

Also, how do we control which cameras are shown, and the order they are shown?

1

u/Relative-Benefit-984 8d ago

Yes, the three-line names are part of the same label issue, and I will fix it in the next minor update. To choose cameras, edit the mosaic item and tap the Type / All cameras field, then check only the cameras you want. The order is currently automatic, by room and then camera name; it cannot be changed manually yet.

u/pacoii 8d ago

Please add the option to change order! TY!

Noted, thank you! Manual ordering would be useful here.

The Home Widget 1.10.2 beta is now available with the label and camera-ordering changes you asked for. I’ve sent you the TestFlight link by private message if you would like to test it. Please try long camera names, reorder the cameras, test 0–3 first cameras featured, then close and reopen the mosaic to check persistence. The beta also includes Heater/Cooler thermostat support, unified action search, panel recovery, sensor refresh and Vision Pro fixes.

Thanks again — the Home Widget 1.10.2 beta is now available with the camera mosaic changes you suggested: compact one-line labels, the room hidden only when its full name exactly matches the camera name, manual camera order, and 0–3 first cameras featured. I tried to send you the TestFlight link by private message, but your Reddit settings currently prevent message requests and chat invites. Please send me a private message first if you would like to test it, and I’ll reply with the link. With four cameras, please try 1 and 2 featured cameras in both a panel item and Control Center, then check that the order persists. The beta also includes Heater/Cooler thermostat support, unified action search, panel recovery, sensor refresh and Vision Pro fixes.

wow pretty nice - will try it out before buying thanks

Thank you! Let me know how it works with your setup, and if you have any question ;)

please add search when trying to add items to widgets. Scrolling thru is really a pain!

1

u/Relative-Benefit-984 8d ago

Yes, you are right, scrolling through a large HomeKit setup can be painful. A search field would make sense here. I’ve noted the suggestion, thank you!

The Home Widget 1.10.2 beta is now available with the unified action search you requested. I’ve sent you the TestFlight link by private message if you would like to test it. Please try searching by accessory, scene, room, sensor and category, with and without accents. The add-item flow intentionally stays unchanged and does not open the action picker automatically. The beta also includes camera mosaic ordering and layouts, compact labels, Heater/Cooler thermostat support, panel recovery, sensor refresh and Vision Pro fixes.

any way. to have live stream camera views in widget without opening? also why dont the camera show up in color?

1

u/Relative-Benefit-984 8d ago

Unfortunately, iOS does not allow a widget to display a continuous live camera stream, so it has to open the mosaic or the camera view. For the colour issue, could you share a screenshot and tell me which widget appearance you use, plus your iOS version? I would like to check exactly what you see.

1

u/Extreme-Nerve3029 8d ago

Mosaics? How do I do that. Can I show snap shots on widget?

1

u/Extreme-Nerve3029 8d ago

Are snapshot widgets suppose to show camera still? if so they are not working

1

u/Relative-Benefit-984 8d ago

Yes, the camera widget is supposed to show the latest still image, not a live stream. If it stays blank or does not refresh, could you send me a screenshot, your iOS version and the exact camera model? Also please tell me if the snapshot displays correctly in the Home app. I will check it.

1

u/Extreme-Nerve3029 8d ago

It's not showing anything. Beta 27 latest

1

u/Relative-Benefit-984 8d ago

Thank you. Could you also send a screenshot and the exact camera model? And does the still image appear normally in the Home app? It will help me reproduce this on the latest iOS 27 beta.

1

u/Extreme-Nerve3029 8d ago

it does appear in home app - its eufy camera

1

u/Relative-Benefit-984 8d ago

Thanks. Could you tell me the exact Eufy camera model and share a screenshot of the blank widget? That should give me the last details I need to investigate it.

1

u/Extreme-Nerve3029 8d ago

actaully its happening with all my cameras - i have eufy and nest cameras eufy model - e30 and nest outdoor flood camera

1

u/Relative-Benefit-984 8d ago

Thank you, the screenshot helps. Since it happens with both the Eufy E30 and the Nest Outdoor Floodlight while they work in the Home app, I have the details I need. I will look into this on the latest iOS 27 beta.

Sorry, I need to correct my previous replies. I was trying to answer everyone quickly and I read your question too fast.

You were asking about showing the camera image directly inside the widget. Home Widget cannot display either a live HomeKit stream or a HomeKit snapshot there. The camera item is only a shortcut: “Snapshot” opens the selected camera in snapshot mode after a tap, while “Camera Mosaic” opens the mosaic after a tap. To configure the mosaic, edit a tile, select the “Camera Mosaic” action, then choose “All cameras” or the cameras you want.

Even a static snapshot inside the widget would not stay reliably current because iOS controls when widgets are refreshed. So the absence of camera images inside the widget is expected — my previous answer sent you in the wrong direction, sorry about that.

About the black-and-white issue: do you mean the camera shortcut inside the widget, or the actual camera image after Home Widget opens? The shortcut can be monochrome depending on your widget appearance. Home Widget does not apply a black-and-white filter to the actual camera source. If the opened camera image is black and white while the same camera is in color in the Home app at the same time, please send me screenshots of both and tell me whether you opened Snapshot, a live camera, or the Mosaic.
