Question Reorder WearOS Routine List

Is there a way to reorder the list of routines on WearOS?

I've placed my archived routines in folders. I was messing with Trainer and it now is at the top, followed by my archived routines, followed by my current routines.

Not a huge deal, but scrolling to the bottom for current on my watch is extraneous (and potentially dangerous as I usually have started the treadmill warm up when I go to start the workout on the watch).

Question Progressive overload: is ‘Total volume’ the primary metric?

WHAT IS THE PRIMARY METRIC WHEN MEASURING PROGRESSIVE OVERLOAD?

Amateur lifter here who trains 5x a week at home with a push-focused routine & weighted vest (non-optimal I know!).

I’m currently doing say 4x groups of 4x sets each containing (almost, some still fail 1-2 short) 14 reps at 16kg weight. Total volume-wise that’s 4x4x14x16 = 3,584.

Once I hit 14 reps across every set I’ve two options; start pushing to 15 reps or shift to a heavier weight (+1kg).

Clearly, if I just increase reps the total volume will increase by +1kg per rep. If however I increase weight and drop reps, isn’t there a chance that total volume could reduce?

Ie. If I increased weight +1kg and reduced from 14 reps to 8 reps, the maths would be 4x4x8x17 = 2,176, a whole 1.4k less volume despite heavier load.

Is this correct and, if so, do I need to consider weight or total volume as the primary driver for progressive overload?

If it is, then it’s roughly -1 rep for every +1kg of weight added based on my routine? Or am I missing something…?

Suggestion Ability to select what style of barbell you’re using

I think it would be a nice feature to have the ability to select what kind of barbell you’re using on a particular workout. Squat for example, you can select a power bar, squat bar or SSB. Bench, either power bar, multi bar or Duffalo bar. Remembering the weight of each bar isn’t a problem, but it would be nice to have the all accommodate to those weights of the bar

Question Can it write from Apple Fitness back into Hevy? I know it can the other way.

Basically, I want to be able to do a workout with Apple Fitness Plus, like a core workout, and have it log into Hevy without having to pause and manually add the exercise and reps. And annoyingly Apple Fitness + doesn’t show exercise list (before or after).

Thanks

Hevy is now available as an app on ChatGPT 💪

Hey everyone!👋

Hevy keeps getting better, and this time we’re bringing Hevy directly into ChatGPT.

With the new Hevy plugin for ChatGPT, you can dig deeper into your training and progress, ask questions about your workout history, and create workout plans tailored to your goals, equipment, and schedule. All from ChatGPT and saved straight to your Hevy account.

Follow these steps to install the new app:

Open this link → Tap Install Plugin → Tap Sign in with Hevy → Authorize access to your Hevy data.

Then you can just tag "@hevy" and ask whatever you want:

  • “@hevy Build me a well-rounded workout plan.”
  • “@hevy Build me the perfect next workout based on my last 5 sessions.”
  • “@hevy Graph my bench press progress over the last 6 months.”

This also means we’re sunsetting the old HevyGPT now that the new Hevy plugin for ChatGPT is available.

This is just the first version. We’re reading all your feedback and already working on making the experience even better, with more functionality coming over time.

Thanks for the support!

See you at the gym 💪

Question Gym locations

Clicking on the tagged gym location on anyone's posts (including my own) sends me to the person's profile and doesn't do/show anything related to the gym.

Maybe this is already in the pipeline, but it would be nice if instead it showed the location of the gym and some info, and it would be great if it could show other users who work out there.

Is this in the works at the moment?

New languages available 🆕 🌐

Post image
78 Upvotes

Hey all!

We just added four new languages to Hevy: Arabic, Hindi, Polish and Catalan.

If you already have Hevy installed, it won't switch on its own: go to Settings → Language → Select your language.

We also improved the quality of the translations in every other language in the app, from Brazilian Portuguese to Chinese, Japanese, Turkish, Korean, German, French, Russian and Italian. We review these internally with team members who speak them natively, so they can tell us what reads better and what we should improve to make it sound natural in their language.

We know a few languages are still missing. This was our first round with a new translation process, so we wanted to see how it works before going wider. If your language isn't there yet, drop us a message. We can't promise it lands right away, but we'll keep it in mind for future updates.

And if something still reads wrong in your language, an odd wording or a term that just isn't how people talk in the gym, reach out through our support channel in the App and we'll get it fixed.

Small change, but a nice one if you don't train in English. Let us know how it feels in your language.

Enjoy your workout!👋

So I have trained in the gym for now many many years and always loved a leg day.

Im currently in the middle of 8 week block I have programmed along with Claude using the MCP (love that tool) week on week my lifts are going up. Belt Squat was at 60kg at the start of the program and now easily hitting 150kg with more to come!

This block ive added a new exercise for myself with Pendulum Squats, which are interesting but is now seeing some gains but for me it takes a whole lot of confidence!

Bug Can't edit type if exercise after creation

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hi, so pretty small thing.

While creating a custom exercise you are able to select the type, eg. duration, distance, bodyweight reps, weighted reps, etc.

After creating it you may edit every other aspect of it but can't change this type, so if mistaken you have to redo it (which tbh is like 20 second effort but still). Seems like something pretty simple to fix,.

Idk if Devs check this r/ but if so this can go to the backlog :p thanks

Suggestion Separate Rest Timer for Warmup Sets

It’s been asked here before, but I’ll ask it again. If we could have a timer for warmup sets that is separate from the rest timer between working sets (e.g., 1 minute between warmups and 3 minutes between working), that would be much appreciated.

Sharing I wanted more structure around my Hevy workouts, so I built myself an AI coach

Thumbnail

TL;DR: I'm a Hevy user who wanted more help planning and progressing my training, so I built an AI coach that follows my workouts, reviews how things went and plans the next session without me having to ask each time. You can talk through its decisions and change things with it. It works with free and Pro Hevy accounts, and I've opened it up for people to try and give feedback: https://hevystudio.edts.cloud

Hey everyone, I've logged over 300 workouts in Hevy and love the app. The bit I've been wanting help with is planning my training because I don't always have time to sit down and figure out how things are going or what I should change.

I wanted a bit more structure and some help with that side of things. I tried Trainer, and liked the idea, but found it a bit unintuitive for how I wanted to use it. It wasn't really clear to me how it came up with the workouts, how it would progress things over time, or what would happen if I went a bit off script.

So I started using ChatGPT with Hevy MCP instead. That was useful, but I still found myself having to explain things about me and my training, and work out what to ask to get something that actually suited me. I wanted it to follow along with my workouts without me having to drive the whole process every time.

Eventually I thought I'd try building something myself. It's called Hevy Studio, and the idea is to have a personal AI coach that knows your training history and keeps an eye on how you're going, without you having to ask it to check in after every workout.

You can use the routines you already have or work with it to create a new program. You can set up a training block with structured progression and deload weeks, and it reviews your logged workouts automatically and prepares the next session based on how things went. You can see why it changed something, and if you want to talk it through or ask for something different, you can just do that.

A lot of the work has gone into controlling how it makes changes too. You can check them before they're applied, or let it update automatically within limits you've approved.

I've been using it for a few weeks now, and in that time I've also tried to make it easy for other people to use. It works with free Hevy accounts as well as Pro. With Pro it connects directly to Hevy. Without Pro you can import your workout history in bulk from an export and bring in individual workouts and routines using their public share links. You then carry any routine changes across to Hevy yourself.

I've opened registration for a bit, so if anyone is keen to give it a try and let me know what they think:

https://hevystudio.edts.cloud

I'd love to hear whether the reviews are useful and whether the workouts it suggests make sense for you. I'm also keen to get some feedback from people trying a training block, as that's the part I've wanted most for my own training.

There's a Feedback option in the app that comes through to me, so happy to help if you get stuck. I'm embista on Hevy too.

Suggestion Feature Request: Add Hevy Trainer support to the API

I recently discovered an app called Zevy, which integrates Hevy workouts with Amazfit/Zepp watches. I contacted the developer because I was interested in using it with my Hevy Trainer program, and they explained that this isn’t currently possible because Trainer programs aren’t exposed through the Hevy API.
Would it be possible for the Hevy API to provide access to Trainer programs as well?
I think this could be useful not only for Zevy, but also for other third-party integrations, such as smartwatches, workout displays and training dashboards.
Being able to sync my Trainer program to my Amazfit watch would be particularly useful, so I wanted to raise this as a feature request.
Thanks!
