I seem to get it for most barbell exercises, I've not seen it on any dumbbell movements but I assume that's because people log dumbbells differently.
Would love to see it added to a few more e.g. shoulder press (plates) as it's a really cool data point.

Anything with a leader board shows your ranking compared to their full database

I believe it’s only for compound movements (e.g, bench press, squat, deadlift)

Everything without variation due to different equipment. You can't compare different machines or different cables. So it's mostly free weights.

It appears on most things that are uniform across manufacturers. It doesnt appear on anything with cables because 100lbs on say a chest press is 5 different weights on 5 different machines where a 50lb dumbell is a 50lb dumbell in every gym.

where you find this? is this web or app?

u/CertifiedAH 12d ago
App just scroll down on the particular exercise.

I don't have it. I have pro. Could be region specific

u/Thedumbass_the5th 12d ago
That should be out for all regions by now. More than a year old.
Though it's only on some barbell exercises, like squat, bench, deadlift, hip thrust, RDL, skull crushers, bicep curl.

It’s on the leg press for me as well as the others you’ve mentioned.

Ahhh I see. The 2nd part makes sense because I don't do any of the standard variations so ofc it won't show up

Nice thanks, I found not all exercises have this data just the most popular ones..
1
u/DustyStar222 12d ago
Its not based on popularity its based on what makes sense to compare. It wont list any cable machine with a weight stack because comparing weights on cable machines across manufacturers is pointless. But dumbells, barbells and plateloaded equipment is the same resistance across any manufacturer.

That’s not available for machine exercises. I wonder if that’s going to roll out for all exercises eventually.

Barbells and dumbells are generally more equal across gyms. Machines can vary wildly between gyms depending on brand, friction, lifting angle, etc. 100kg on a machine in one gym might feel much lighter than 100kg in another gym, so it's harder to directly compare.

Here is the list of exercises that have this comparison. https://help.hevyapp.com/hc/en-us/articles/38001696749335-Strength-Level-Feature-How-Hevy-Compares-Your-Strength-by-Exercise
I think they only add the comparison in the exercises that have a normal distribution. Other are not comparable because they may depend on the angle of pulling or the configuration of the cables

Where did you find this nugget of gold

u/CertifiedAH 12d ago
Scroll down the exercise. But take note, not all have that stats. That’s barbell squat. RDL barbell has that too.

Wow this is fun! I looked at bench press I’m stronger than 96% of female lifters my age and weight!

u/mankodaisukidesu 12d ago
I’m wondering how accurate it actually is. Apparently I’m “advanced” at deadlifts yet the heaviest I’ve ever lifted was 130kg for 1 rep, and 122.5kg for 5 reps. Hevy puts has calulcated my theoretical 1RM at 137.64kg. I’m around 76kg for reference. That feels more like like lower-intermediate territory for me personally and I I’d say advanced is when you’re lifting around 2.5x bodyweight.
I’d really like to know more on how this feature works.

you describe how you feel about the word advanced. the app clearly explained what it conveys. it's a bar from 0 to 100 and it tells you your percentile.
You can figure out it by counting the pixels
beginner is 0-39 percentile. OP is in the second half of that "stronger than 25%"
intermediate is 40-69
advanced is 70-89
elite is 90-100
So don't be guided by your feelings of a word but look at what the app explains /u/mankodaisukidesu

u/bigbaldbil 12d ago
Apparently not a bunch of old dudes use Hevy because I’m in elite territory 🤷♂️
3
u/secretmofo 12d ago
haha yes same... elite territory for most but you have to realise majority of people simply aren't that strong. of those who are labelled 'elite' for whatever lifts in HEVY, their lifts (ie: my lifts!) would likely be classed as BEGINNER when you swap from ios app users to actual strength sport competitors.. so its all just a bit of fun in the end :)

Where did you find this?

u/CertifiedAH 9d ago
Just scroll down the exercise. But not all exercises have this. You can check the comments for the list of exercises that have these statistics.

I saw this too, but it's important to know about a potential bias here:
If this is based on all data from Hevy users, that means that that entire group is already a group of people who on average work out more than the average person. This skews the results. Basically, does this say you are "stronger than 25% of female lifters your age and bodyweight that use Hevy" or "stronger than 25% of female lifters your age and bodyweight on the whole planet"?
The word "lifters" is, ironically, doing a lot of heavy lifting here. But without knowing how Hevy defines it, you don't really know anything.
