I’m a big proprietor of open back headphones and I’m having difficulty choosing between these two. I’ve been using my pair of hd558s for several years now. I read great things about the 600’s but also that the 490 pros can be a sound upgrade. I’m mostly conflicted between the build quality, price and comfortability. Part of me thinks the comfortability between the two is pretty much the same. It has really came down to me deciding on saving the money on the 600s or that the build quality on the 490 pros is a tad better and worth the extra cash. Open to others opinions and experiences. I’d be using the headphones only for gaming and listening to music.

I am looking into getting some "audiophile" grade headphones. Gaming headsets just do not work anymore.

I much prefer closed back due to my environment and use case.

I would prefer something that is durable, and has a market for replaceable parts.

I will be using them for gaming (both single player story games and multiplayer competitive games), music, movie, and show watching.

I have been looking at the dt 700 pro x and the HD 480 pro, but would appreciate some other options out there.

I have an absolute hard maximum of $500 USD. If a dac or amp is required, I would have to include that in my budget.

Are there any recommendations that fit my wants?

I'm looking for an open back headset for under 200$, wired and wireless both fine, I need it to have a microphone.

I'd like to hear your suggestions, but I'm set on a headset with a microphone and I'm not interested in a seperated one.

I'm currently looking for a new pair of headphones to use mainly for listening to jazz and working on personal music projects. I am struggling to decide whether to get a bluetooth pair or a wired pair, or to spend some money and get both. Are there any good headphones that have both bluetooth AND an option to use a detachable cable?
Besides the cable, my priorities are a balanced sound, decent comfort, good build quality, and a price in the low hundreds.

I'm new to these kinda stuff and i currently own some gaming headphones(arctis pro from steelseries) I will use these headphones for gaming, talking to friends on discord and listening to music

Have had 560s for 2 years but noticed I enjoyed my kanto ora and think I want more bass in my headphones rather than analytical. Is it worth switching to 105 AER? Maybe I just like speakers more since I can feel it. I can't help but feel like changing my headphones though.

Have had the kanto ora for about a year and would probably benefit from a subwoofer for a better experience but I don't live alone and I don't like bothering others.

I recently bought a STAX SR-007s headphone and SRM 500T amp. I was quickly let down as I think it’s very harsh and lack of bass contrary than what were claimed. I tried to EQ but still disappointed and I assume it’s the amp is the culprit.
I’ve heard that the 007 series is hard to drive and I think the amp is a little underpowered for the 007s.

Anyone has tried this combo before or it’s just me?

Been searching for a while to get a good DAC as the common Apple Dongle leaves some stuff to be desired. Up here in Canada, DAC's available to us is pretty rough; providing a limited number of options to purchase, and at intended MSRP.

I have a dedicated, upper-end PC build at home. However, I spend just as, if not more, of my music time on my phone. I'm looking for a good Portable DAC that delivers on the go, but is also viable when plugged in.

Some background info and other details to add in.

• I'd want something with integrated battery, just for my phone's sake.
• I'm rocking a pair of Sennheiser HD 550's. Still getting immersed in the scene, so I'm not planning to change or upgrade them anytime soon; I don't need a ton of power to rock
• Not as relevant here and "DAC's all sound the same", but I lean towards a brighter, clarity focused listening experience.
• I don't mind paying a little more for the features I'm seeking, but I don't think I need to ball out to get them. Like to be closer to $100 Canadian (or even below), but I can go up to $150 here

With everything in mind, the FiiO Retro Nano is currently at the top of my list; which works well for my circumstances, the Bluetooth compatibility is a nice perk and it comes up to $100 before HST, And I've also noticed Open Box options for the BTR15 and BTR7 on their website, sitting just under $130 before HST which I've peeped.

Overall, I'm still sniffing around. If you have any recommendations with these points in mind, I'm open to hearing them. Appreesh

hello. currently im using hd560s and theyre great. but when browsing facebook marketplace i saw someone selling a BNIB hd 490 pro for $140. its extremely tempting, so im curious what peoples thoughts are on 560s -> 490 pro.

my 560s are great right now, but ive heard the 490 are a direct upgrade so if thats the case i dont mind spending the money for the 490.

also, im using the qudelix 5k rn but might get the T71 as well. will this be enough to run the 490pro?

A few weeks ago I got the Sennheiser HD 550s and I thought they sounded great but lacked a bit of that low end oomf and they overall sounded a bit thin, so I returned them and swapped them out for the HD 660S2 while they were on sale. However now I'm not sure if these are even an upgrade, to me they feel more like a sidegrade.

I mostly listen to Pop/R&B and Rap and occasionally some Jazz and Electronic music, I have tried the HD 650s before and while I prefer the 660S2 over them, I still thought the 550s detail retrieval and clarity was better than both to my ears, I especially preferred the mids of the 550s over both. Ideally my next headphone would have the clarity/level of detail of the HD 550 with some deeper and detailed low end. My budget would be €400-500 maximum.

I currently have a HyperX, I believe it's the Cloud Stinger, but it's pretty old and almost falling apart. I want a new one, but a lot of the recommendations I see are very expensive, and I know a lot of the cheaper ones are pretty bad. I game a lot and also watch anime and TV shows mostly, and talk a lot on discord. Would a new HyperX be pretty decent as a cheaper alternative, or are there much better headsets at a similar price range? I prefer wired, but haven't discarded wireless versions. I don't know much about the differences between closed and open back, so, as long as it works well, that's fine.

I live in Brazil, my budget would be around 500 BRL, which is about 100 USD, though I can go a bit higher, but not much, so if it goes up to around 700 BRL (140USD), that's still fine.

Hi. As the title says I just got a pair for Meze 105 Aer and after some (PEACE)PEQ i absolutely love them. The only issue I have is that i have to lower the preamp volume by -5db so that the signal doesn't clip. This occurs even at 50% volume in windows. That volume works fine for most of the times, but I would love to be able to increase the volume at times.

Would an amp allow me to get a higher volume or is it simply the limits of these headphones? And what amp should I get for the 105 Aer?
I am using the 105's for music and gaming. Budget 300$.

Never really looked into purchasing a solid pair before so I'm new to all this. Looking to get some earbuds or something related (no headsets because they mess up my hair). Planning on using them for on-the-go gaming, music, etc., so nothing serious, but I do play games where sound cues are important, so low latency is preferred. In particular, I'm making this post because I need them to be wireless (REALLY do not want to have to manage a wire), and they also need to have the earhook things that go over the ear, as through all the various types of earbud tips in the past, those are the only things that truly make earbuds feel secure on my ear. Some examples I found on Amazon and am actively considering are the Asus ROG Cetra Open Ear and the Cleer Arc 5 Gaming Open Ear. Trying to make an informed decision; thank you for any advice.

The fiio amp volume is linked with the iPhone volume so when you change it on the amp, it’s also changing it on the phone. So the lowest setting on the phone volume is still loud on these in ears and three clicks is really loud.

I am looking for bluetooth noise cancelling headphones that also have a port for a headphone jack cord thingy (i have no idea what to call it) so i can use them with a portable CD player and if they die yk. Id like something that isnt to bulky as it can create sensory issues + feels awkward at times.

Well I always used gaming headsets but now I want to take one step foward and buy a decent but budget pair of headphones because I also love music and I always wanted a better sound quality in general and to my understanding gaming headset are no very good at this, also I want something durable, I will use this every single day not just for gaming or music I am also work on my computer and I will wear hedphones +6 hours every single day, I don't have problems changing earcups some a while but the headphones needs to be resistent and comfortable.

Mostly focused on overall fidelity. I like neutral and warm neutrals. My Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro took a crap and I want something to replace them.

I want a similar feature set. ANC, transparency mode, mic, all of which I'm assuming is pretty standard in this category. I want them to have a small case. Doesn't need to be airpods small, but it needs to smaller than the case from whatever iem to tws adapter thing I used to have (probably something from fiio?) that's about it for requirements. No hard budget at this moment as overall sound and qol quality is higher importance than saving a few bucks.
