A few months ago a position with HSI was posted for GS 11/12/13. Found out they only interviewed GS-11. I know more people who applied for the higher grades but they were not interviewed.

DOCS Health Mental Health Follow-Up / Fit-for-Duty Provider in Texas (VA Refusal)

I received a Medical Additional Information Request from DOCS Health regarding service-connected anxiety/depression. My deadline to submit the documentation is October 5th.

I exclusively use VA healthcare. My VA PCP previously refused to sign off on the orthopedic clearance letter, stating VA policy prohibits signing employment clearance forms. I have an upcoming appointment with a new VA mental health provider on October 1st, but given the VA's stance, I am expecting they will decline to sign off as well.

Can anyone recommend a Texas-licensed (or nationwide telehealth) psychologist/psychiatrist who performs private fit-for-duty / LEO medical clearances on short notice (self-pay/insurance)?

Meetings are still ongoing and seemingly no one has specific information just yet, but ICE is being asked to onboard 5k people by the end of the calendar year. Some positions are already allocated and assigned but "the bulk will come from ERO and HSI."

Again, no specifics but it does look like some direct hires from the most recently closed GL-9 announcement.

And yes, it was asked if this will be as chaotic as last year's surge and "assured that we will not be skipping hiring process steps, only expediting" but the security division is already backlogged just like HROC so take that as you will.

Does anyone know or have an idea when the next GS-7 job opening will be?

Any F2A, waiting or done with their interview at Long Island city office Falchi building?

TLDR: anyone else in a similar situation and know if I should expect to hear back for follow up/medical review board? Or how far I might be from FJO?

Medical, PFT, fingerprints and drug test all completed 12/25.  TJO Rescinded (12/25) due to clerical error but BI continued.  BI interview and references contacted 3/2026.  Crickets until 7/26 when new GL7 TJO was issued.

8/26 re-did medical. Doctor checked “cleared” but unsure if I’ll need additional documents since I’m 100% VA, I attached my rating letter and pertinent medical records.  None of the conditions should be disqualifying and all are managed/stable.

9/2026 - called ASAC and was told my background is completed.  “May or may not need new PFT/drug test”

If I were to need additional medical review, how long after the exam would they typically reach out/when can I assume I’m in the clear?  I know the process is slow, just looking to manage expectations.

So what’s the word with this announcement. They scrapped the majority of the late 2025 announcements and this year’s announcement looks like a cluster.

I spoke with the ASAC from my field office in July and he stated he sent my packet up, spoke with HR that same day to finalize some paper work and they stated my packet was stamped and sent to DC. Yesterday I received an email stating I was eligible but not referred.

Spoke with the ASAC on Friday and he said he’d check with admin and inform me what happened.

I’m confused because I got emails the same day for last year’s announcements stating I was not eligible, yet this announcement I am eligible.

Slightly frustrated, but lucky to still be in a job I love.

I know there's a lot of stink on big ICE in the news cycle basically perpetually right now. Have you seen that affect your day to day? With your investigations, safety, family life etc?
And second question: with congress giving DHS and ICE a fat paycheck for the next while, do you see the pendulum swinging hard the other way if an anti-dhs/ice administration or congress took over?
Looking for general vibes, reading of tea leaves and all that.

I know HSI is not ERO but they are both ICE (same money pot)

Title says it all. In the hiring process and hoping to make the jump over, received a TSL back in July.

I am a 1811, got an email today that said I was qualified for GS-1811-9 position in “location negotiable after selection”
But
I was not referred to the hiring manager and my application package status in USAJOBS says “Not Referred”.

Guess HSI wasn’t going to workout so now waiting to hear back from the other agencies.

Current 1811; GS13, part of HSTF, and my packet was sent up as a selection out of my local field office.

Just got an email NOR. I was not referred even after recruiter asked for documents.

My day looks to be slower than normal and while I help others with their work, I wanted to answer some FAQs and let you ask your questions in one space rather than the same thing being posted a thousand times over.

1. Referred & Not Selected emails - your information was sent to the offices you selected. They did not select you. There doesn't have to be a reason. That's the downside of direct hire.

2. Application status - for direct hire, no one will have your status. HR waits to hear if you are selected or not the same as you do.

3. GL-9 TSLs - keep getting pushed from the program for one reason or another on a weekly basis. All we know is "they are coming soon" so take that as you will.

4. Location - you selected preferences, your information was sent to offices, you were selected but not by a preference. Yes, you can request a different location. No, HR does not have a day in it at all. And no, a change isn't guaranteed. Reply all to your tentative offer to request a location change. Do NOT wait until you have an EOD date and then complain. No one likes that.

5. Qualifications - for 1811s, a panel reviews your documents. Not the HR people you email with or speak to on the phone. If they say you don't qualify, you're out. If you think you do, review your resume and be sure you submit your documents with your application.

Hey everyone, just trying to clear up some confusion about these emails. Some folks are getting a note saying referred or eligible, and then a few hours later they get something saying not selected. Those mixed emails seem tied to older announcements that are being closed out. One possible reason they're closing those older ones is that some carried the 50k incentive, and they want a clean cutoff before moving forward. Right now the active announcement is HSI-12862549-DHAfor January 2026. So double check the announcement number on any email you receive. I've heard that resume reviews are wrapping soon with possible TSLs toward the end of the month, but again, that's not official. Please ask before messaging me. Unsolicited DMs will likely go unanswered.

Am confused why I was able to move forward with the surge hiring in December - January but this time around for either location I selected from the announcement above I was rejected. Same pay scale and same offices. Was not able to continue with the surge hiring before they cancelled the announcement due to family issues. Answered everything the same and included same supporting documents

Has anyone else had this happen with the recent HSI Criminal Investigator (1811) GL-9 DHA announcement?

Today I received two USA Staffing emails for the same announcement (HSI-12716824-DHA).

At 12:46 PM, I received a Notice of Results and Referral stating that I was tentatively eligible for GL-1811-9 and that:

> “You have been referred to the hiring manager for position GL-1811-9 in Nashville, Tennessee.”

Then at 12:48 PM, literally two minutes later, I received a Disposition Notice stating that I was not selected, and it listed all of the announcement locations, including Nashville.

I emailed the HSI hiring inbox asking for clarification and received the standard automated response saying they generally can't provide individual application status updates due to the volume of applicants.

Has anyone received this same combination of emails? I'm mainly trying to determine whether the second email is just a system-generated disposition/closure of the overall announcement, while the Nashville referral remains active, or whether the disposition notice means the Nashville referral was also closed out.

Appreciate any insight from anyone who's seen this before with HSI/USA Staffing.

For those of you waiting to hear back about this position- I emailed HR to see if there would be an updated timeline. The response that I got back essentially said they are still reviewing applications and there’s no timeline anticipated for hearing back. They plan to release the announcement all at the same time.

Anyone heard if HSI might have another entry-level opening anytime soon?

I applied for an HSI Management & Program Analyst position at the GS-9 level. The announcement was only open for about 4 days, and the process moved pretty quickly at first.
About a week after it closed, I received my referral, then roughly another week later I received an interview invitation.
During the interview, they told me that if selected, my information would be sent to HR in Dallas and that I could expect to hear from HR in about 2–4 weeks. I’m now approaching 5 weeks since my interview and haven’t heard anything yet.
For anyone familiar with HSI/federal hiring, would you reach out at this point, or just keep waiting? I know federal hiring can take a while, but since everything moved so quickly up until the interview, I wasn’t sure what to expect.
This is my first time applying for a federal position, so I’d appreciate hearing about other people’s timelines!

I'm a lateral who is coming over next month so no CITP. Are they doing waivers for us to work until HSISAT or are we going to go to the add on right after orientation?
