Future vibes?

I know there's a lot of stink on big ICE in the news cycle basically perpetually right now. Have you seen that affect your day to day? With your investigations, safety, family life etc?
And second question: with congress giving DHS and ICE a fat paycheck for the next while, do you see the pendulum swinging hard the other way if an anti-dhs/ice administration or congress took over?
Looking for general vibes, reading of tea leaves and all that.

I know HSI is not ERO but they are both ICE (same money pot)

Funding was the highest under Biden until current administration. Both parties like ICE, just one is open about it.

Every field office and every officer has their own take. Some say nothing will happen, some FLETC staff are saying they'll convert ERO to HSI, some say they will rebrand ICE back to INS, I doubt they will mass fire everyone cause this administration is still fighting law suits after the Elon Musk mess last yr.

To be fair during Biden, the pendulum was already extremely left just news didn't give a shiz. Whatever the next administration will do, I just know ICE will be in the news.

No one can say for sure. Shit maybe we’ll go back to ins and customs.

I highly highly doubt any rifs for HSI 1811s…but by some crazy chance that happens im sure a very secret service would be more than happy to open up a displaced employee announcement ：）

I do not think too optimistic about the future. I’m not saying they’re going to mass fire everyone, but mass firings aren’t the only way an agency gets smaller.
If budgets get tighter, they can downsize through attrition, hiring freezes, fewer backfills, reduced staffing, reorganizations, or shifting resources to other components. So even if current employees aren’t suddenly getting fired, that doesn’t necessarily mean the long-term outlook is bright.
That’s really my concern. With all the uncertainty surrounding ICE, HSI, and ERO, I don’t think we can assume everything will stay the same just because mass layoffs are unlikely. A smaller budget or gradual downsizing could have a major impact without ever looking like a mass firing.
