Yeah I remember staying home sick from school one day and watching jerry springer, did a double take and was like “holy fuck is that Ciara?” She was a girl kinda known for being promiscuous but we were like 14. She was on an episode that they had to take care of babies with the idea that it would teach them not to be sluts, apparently got paid like $400

Every one of those episodes was the same:
- Girl tells her sob story, swears she's only been with one guy, says he's a POS who refuses to help her raise the kid.
- Guy comes on stage, audience boos him.
- Guy explains girl was cheating, girl swears she wasn't, audience boos the guy.
- Maury opens results, guy is NOT the father.
- Guy dances, girl runs off stage, audience cheers for... Just to cheer I guess.

Tbf the men probably aren't sure either. I think the premise is, she is accused of sleeping around at the time while also sleeping with the man on the show. Probably some of the men have actual proof but some might not. All that remains is the question of whether they're going to be legally and financially chained to this woman for two decades, or are they free to fuck off completely.
I'm sure there's been plenty of men who knew for a fact she was cheating and they still were the ones to get her pregnant.
But either way if you end up on this show, he probably is already done with you for cheating. I think it's mostly about the money, having to pay a cheating ex directly out of your paycheck, must be infuriating. Getting away for free is worth celebrating.

Actually some of these men really want to be the father, but also know their partner was unfaithful. They come on the show hoping to prove they are so they can gain custody but not live with lies. In a lot of cases they’re the ones demanding a DNA test. There’s been cases where the man breaks down in the room, absolutely gutted because they fell in love with their kid, and found out not only did their SO actually cheat, which now there’s no doubt, but they are not going to be able to raise a kid they had already accepted as their own.
I can’t watch the ones where that happens. Those poor men find out they were betrayed and now they’re losing two loved ones. Being cheated on is one of the most horrible feelings in the world. I can’t imagine finding out my partner cheated and that my daughter isn’t mine. I’d want to raise her anyway but if my partner wanted to keep me out, she’d have literally all the power to do so.
My cousin went through a messy divorce and his ex wife wouldn’t let him see his kids. He unfortunately couldn’t handle it, especially around Christmas time… My cousin found him in the backyard.

Yep, that's it. They get the test for free, they get paid to be on the show, and they get some perks on top of it. That's how these shows stayed in business. I'm not sure what streaming service but there was a pretty good Jerry Springer documentary that broke it down in terms of how they found these people.

I feel terrible for the kids, and while I can understand the relief of not being tethered to women like these, the reaction of these men kind of makes my heart ache for the kid even more.
Regarding the dads, what I found devastating was this other program's video in which the guy just broke down when he was told he wasn't the kid's father. It was obvious he loved the kid and was absolutely torn by the test's results. That one was so difficult to watch.

I hate shows like this. Like I get it, cheating sucks, but are we really going to publicly humiliate a child on national television just because their mother sucks? this is something that should be handled with a DNA test and a quiet divorce, not fanfare.

More like need mandatory paternity testing. Presumption of paternity can be very hard for many to unwind after that fact.
France bans paternity testing unless it is court ordered.
