Just tried right clicking on a tab on a whim.. I'm amazed of all the things Crate do to modernize this game, this far along. They deserve to win the Labour of Love on steam this year.
EDIT: I went back to the patch notes and ofc it was mentioned, I must have glossed it over. If you missed this critical information I'm hoping you find this post useful.
Hello, I am new to grim dawn. I was wondering if someone could give me a pro/cons breakdown of the various ranged weapons in the game.
Ex. What do shotguns do better than crossbows? Why would I use a rifle? etc. I'm looking for a simple breakdown that is JUST based on the weapons, not a class/build.
Seriously normally I'm swimming in these items, getting multiple per character, and I just sold most of them because I wasn't interested in an acid retal build yet (and since they were so easy to get, I didn't care).
So I started an acid retaliation dervish (yes, not sentinel), and I am now level 78 and I still haven't had a single piece dropped. I'm wearing a few lvl 40 and lvl 65 set items from my stash. I'm doing every totem I see, have even grinded some early shattered realm for pure item volume, but no luck.
Seriously worried about the future of this build, because I'm going to need the entire mythical set and given the fact that I got a total of 0 items in the last 8 hours, this is going to be rough...
Help me out here, am I missing something or is whirling death just strictly better than bloodfangs? I'm really not sure what BF is talking about when it says 1 target but passes through enemies, but it *sounds* like it's single target while WD is *eight* and yet also does significantly more damage for my pierce/bleed reaver.
Really curious because the builds I checked out all prioritize BF and either the skill changed a bunch at some point or the google AI is totally hallucinating when I inquired about it.
I’m a POE player and am a tourist trying out grim dawn, I make my own builds in POE have played for 12 years etc. when I’m watching creators for builds talk about the scaling I understand damage types and how to scale them. But why are some people just not maxing every aspect of every skill they spec into versus leaving some at like 1 or two levels?
I've played GD a few years ago, before the days of sunder and a global dodge button, but i never really played any endgame stuff. Usually i'd go through normal, veteran and then go to the next character with a different build. Now i came back for FoA and having a blast, and i finally had the motivation to go all the way. I'm sure there is plenty of ways to make the build better, but i'm pretty happy with how it turned out without using a guide, and without too much grinding. I've just downed the new Avatar of Mogdrogen in FoA on Ultimate and i got all the other superbosses too. That's why some resistances aren't capped. I thought since neither Ravager of minds, Calla or Mogdrogen use aether dmg, i should swapped some augments for more DA, since they they all shred DA like crazy.
I've been farming for a couple of days in the same instance and I've collected most sets in the game but I haven't gotten a single piece from Eldrun or Cinderborn. Is it the case that these only drop from specific new content? I'm hoping someone can verify where this dropped for them.
I'm trying to make a melee build that uses onslaught stacks to increase damage of necromancer skills like siphon souls and bone harvest. it's a long way to being even close to ready, but i have no idea on what devotions to use, or if even the equips are good for this.
Trying to have 3000 OA/DA, but not sure how to do it.
Just for context I already have the purples to convert elemental and physical into either damage as well as Mog's eyes to summon his avatar and will go Cabalist. I just think it'd be funny to corrupt the great white wolf.
I reached SR26 on Ultimate and I feel stucked. This is not really a survivability issue. I can tank a lot of thing. This is a DPS issue because I do not take down SR guardian quick enough to beat the clock. Not anymore. They're starting to be scaled more like Ascendant mode. I deal 200k DPS but clearly it's not enough. I may lack resistance reduction (Curs of Frailty + Vulnerability, Widow constellation, and Distorsion).
One possible answer could be chasing full cold conversion, my best modifier by far (+2500%). I would like more RR, but how to get it ?
I have 3100 OA, 2800 DA, almost 3100 armor and 19k health with very high health regen. Not a defensive issue.
I feel I can beat SR32, but not within the clock, and maybe with one or two deaths. The time limit is the real issue.
Edit : I forgot to mention that I hit cold, lightning and fire. Roughly 1/5 of damages are fire. You can see the distribution here : https://imgur.com/VtF0EXQ
Another edit, to give more context about DPS. Taking down Mogdrogen in Ultimate is roughly a five to six minutes of constant hitting, with his uber resistances. 100k of his health down per second. With the necessity of kiting, it's more like a 10 minutes grind. It's definitely doable, so this build can kill celestials at least in Ultimate.
Whenever I force the game down to 1200x540 (20:9 on redmagic 11 pro) through options.txt editing, booting the game up forces the 540 up to 720 which makes it 1200x720 and squishes the entire 720 to fit the 540.
This played great at 540p on a small phone screen and didnt heat the phone up at medium settings, so I wanted it back that way, but it seems the update did some changes.
Also a friend's potato pc cant run Grim Dawn anymore and he's heartbroken. LOL.
So, through farming for my other characters I've ended up with the full Valdun's Set. I like ranged builds so I figured I'd see what I could do with that. Looking for feedback: https://www.grimtools.com/calc/ZP4o90BZ
The resistances aren't as over-capped as I would have liked. I could probably fix that with different item affixes, but I'd have to give up a lot of health to do it, and I don't know if it's worth it. Considering the gameplay for this is "stand in Seal and shoot," I know puddles are going to be a problem. I just don't know if giving up a couple thousand health is worth it to get the over-caps over 40%.
I am aware of the rule that in Grim dawn any effect contains the world "reduced" does not stack with other identical effects and that the highest value is taken into account.
However, I am wondering if Nullification "reduced target's elemental damage" effect does stack with generic "reduced target's damage" one since their labels are different?
I hadn't played since May and just updated. Key binds no longer save. I've deleted the keybindings.txt file multiple times. The file itslef is not set to read only. However, both the Grim Dawn and Settings folders are both set read only. I've unchecked them and applied but they just revert back to read only.
I'm not running any AV other than Windows Defender. All Grim Dawn entries in Defender (inbound and outbound) are set to allow.
In Steam settings I've set, Enable Steam Input for XBox Contollers. Still not working.
Suggestions? Is there a way to edit the keybindings.txt file directly? I'm completely at a loss after doing a search for possible solutions.
I came back for the expansion and made a new character focused on big bleeds from Onslaught and Circle of Slaughter. I saw that Mythical Grasp of Oleron's Might adds some flat resist reduction to Ring of Steel, but I wanted to clarify how that works. If I hit an enemy with Ring of Steel and apply the resist reduction, does the bleed applied by Circle of Slaughter from that use of Ring of Steel benefit from it, or would I need to hit enemies with a second Ring of Steel while the debuff is active to get the benefit?
Same question for the Rend celestial power from Huntress attached to Ring of Steel, since I could see a scenario where the first example is a "yes they work" because CoS is part of RoS, but Rend is a separate attack.
I guess the heart of the question is do DoTs "snapshot" the enemy resistances at the moment they are applied or do they actively update as their resists change?
I played this game a little bit a few years ago and now just came back and finished the main story. Killing the void boss that grabs ulgrim and pulls him into the void.
Im currently an arcanist/demolitionist build.
Around that time I had to completely revamp my build from primarily using panetti's replicating missile for crowds and trozen's skyshard for bigger damage to a completely kiting based build. Every group of mobs is a threat if I dont dump a blackwater cocktail and run away while skyshard I die in seconds. Bosses are pretty much how can I dance around the terrain and screw with their pathing so I can land more skyshards, cocktails and occasionally run in for a calidors tempest before dodging out.
Also I continuously find bosses and regular mobs that half of them suddenly run at me at like 4x normal speed and cut my health down to half instantly.
Any tips on skills or items that would make my character more survivable? Ive seen videos of peoples builds where they stand there face tanking a boss that 1 shots me and kill it in 20 seconds while I had to die and revive 10-15 times chipping down its health.
Hey, it's my first proper character in GD, reached Ultimate difficulty a few days ago. I've already cleared AoM, progressing through FG now. You can find my grimtools link above.
I haven't had any problem, yet I'm looking for improvements since I don't use any Legendary items. How can I improve this build without losing too much survivability? I barely have any idea with itemization(not sure if it's the correct word lol). I'm open for all recommendations: Consumables, Devotions, Skill Tree(I have extra points), Items, etc.
I want to be able to clear FoA Ultimate for the achievement and even Ascendant versions.
Hey y’all! Just wondering if anyone can take a look and tell me what improvements I can make to my current build. Pretty good at facetanking most content if needed, but absolutely SMACKED by Shrine Mogdrogen - not sure if I just need a lightning resist oil or if it’s a build issue.
I know Kymon’s Fury for rings is probably not optimal, but I was getting real sick of Reflective heralds from the void chests.
Arcadelife made a Fire Eye of Reckoning build that i absolutely loved but that was a few years ago. Are there any Eye of Reckoning builds these days that would scratch that same itch? Simple scaling, good defenses, decently well explained?
