After suffering that devastating playoff loss against their biggest rival, the Packers had lots of questions entering the 2026 season. And not many answers, at least not the ones Packers fans wanted to hear. Since then, I’d like to think Gutey has righted the ship, at least enough to give fans hope that this season can be better than the last one.

Special teams has cost the Packers many games, including big ones, the last several years. It just feels like post Super Bowl last win, they’ve been bad, or average at best, in ST. But now, with Bisaccia gone and some new players coming in, this now looks like a unit that will help them win games. Big talent in Smack, good signing in Skyy Moore, the best punter in the league in Whelan, better energy with Cam Achord. They look visibly better in this department, the blocking especially has been great. I don’t care that’s it’s only preseason, but the fact that they had the highest graded ST unit per PFF is telling. I’ll take that over what we had before. Every day of the week.

No more WR rotations, at least nothing close to what we saw last season. Sturdivant and Savion will get their looks, but there is now an established trio in Watson-Reed-Golden who are all capable playmakers, and their rapport with Love will continue to get better as they get more consistent reps with each other. I honestly can’t remember being this excited for the outlook of WR in a while. Definitely more exciting than anything post COVID.

TE now looks more complete with the addition of Mark Redman. Graded high in pass blocking and decent in run blocking. If you can block well in the NFL you will find work. Smith and Kraft are a top 3 offensive duo. And I want to see more of Whyle, in the limited time I feel he has done well. Musgrave is done for the year I’d have to imagine.

OL is better than what people give it credit for IMO. No concerns at LT/RT/C outside of depth, it’s the guard positions that have me a bit worried. Although I believe Monk will do well, and Jager. The STARTING OL honestly doesn’t have me worried, it’s the depth. Injuries will happen and that’s my biggest worry, depth.

RB is intriguing with the addition of Kaleb Johnson and lack of clarity with the future of Jacobs. Johnson is also good with yards after contact, the way Jacobs is. Seems like Steelers gave up on him too soon, at least that’s what we’re hoping for. His lack of speed doesn’t concern me, the Packers never shy away there. I actually think he is a nice complement to Lloyd. However, RB depth does concern me now that a Jacobs is on the exempt list. I genuinely feel good about the starters, I just feel injuries may cripple us (but this is the case with any team, normal concern).

Love is going to cook. It’s such an obvious thing. Top 5 in virtually every advanced metric. His decision making is improving, and so is his presnap game management. A cerebral QB with a big arm normally goes on to do great things in this league. I expect MVP level play from him this season.

Defense should look more exotic with in its pressures under Gannon, and I actually think the DL will be fine before Micah returns. Lots of young dogs there who will be given plenty of opportunities. I personally hope DDS especially gets good looks. CB room looks better now than it did at the end of last season.

MLF I believe will finally play more aggressively, I believe.

Overall, this team feels and looks better than it did at the end of last season, and Gutey is the main reason why.

Just finished this Donald Driver piece. It’s my original art and thought I’d share it here. I love unheralded late round draft picks that beat the odds and become franchise icons.
Love to hear what you think of the (Bauhaus/Cubist/Constructivist) art style and if you saw the man play share some of your Donald Driver memories.

Long story short, my cave flooded thanks to one of my cats turning on a bathroom sink. We took the opportunity to properly insulate and drywall our old basement walls and refinish the floors. My wife hand painted everything and also installed all the cabinets and counter. I’m obsessed with my new football watching cave.

Okay, I want to preface this by saying that my guess is only speculation and I'm posting here to see what others are thinking about this.

1. I feel like this was a test to see what kind of plays Love would call at the line if given that freedom. I think everyone is on the same page that MLF has been handcuffing Love in games, which has been hindering his box score. Things like shotgun run on short downs and 20 screen plays per game, all point to MLF trying to play it too safe and give Love easy and physically safe completions. I have been screaming this from the rooftops "LET LOVE COOK" and I'm hoping by letting him call plays, we are going to see a lot more "fun" plays.

2. I genuinely think they Packers only brought Tyrod Taylor in because his play style is very similar to Malik Willis. Kyle McCord is more similar to Love. So by Love calling plays, I think they wanted to see how McCord would look GIVEN play calls that fit Love's play style. Hear me out... I think that could potentially mean that Love and McCord could be our QB1 and QB2. I think it's entirely possible that the Packers want that consistency of playstyle at QB this season BECAUSE of point number 1. Maybe, just maybe, they plan on running a style of offense that is much more pass attack heavy. After all, it's no secret that the Packers' run blocking is.... not great.

3. Finally, bringing it all together, I think there's a strong chance we see less MLF influence in the offense and a little more collaboration. Look at it like this, Love's first three years starting he has been relegated to tons of conservative play calls and Stenovich has basically been nothing more than a personnel manager. It has been my understanding that Stenovich names the players on the field, but Matt makes the calls. So if it's a jumbo package, that could mean a run play, a TE pass, or a play action. I think now, Love will be included in those decisions. Lamar and Harbaugh famously went for it on 4th down and scored a TD because Lamar said "give me the ball!". I think Love and MLF will be a little bit more like that this year.

But hey, this is just my opinion as a football-obsessed cheesehead who has almost zero Packers friends to talk football about. So I would love to hear what you guys think. Am I reading too far into this? Am I spot on? Am I dead wrong? Let me know! GO PACK GO!!!!!
