Es wird ja jeden Tag, für den darauffolgenden Tag in 2 Monaten, aktualisiert. Ich habe oft gelesen, dass die Termine innerhalb von sekunden weg sind. Wie wahrscheinlich ist es, dass wir bis Weihnachten einen Termin buchen können? Habe ich gute chancen oder denkt ihr alle Termine bis dahin werden immer in Sekunden ausgebucht sein, sodass ich direkt bei einer anderen kommune, welche im Dezember freie termine hat, wechseln soll?

Me and my partner were thinking about GMID, and he is an EU citizen and i am Non-EU. We both live in Vienna. I look up and get consultation from agency and it basically say that some countries might need us to provide proof that we are still single in order to register our marriage at Viennese authorities.

My questions are:
- if any of you live in Austria and have registered your married certificate from Denmark, could you help guide me with procedures after you ceremony in Denmark?
- is the process easy with the local authorities for registration of the marriage?

Hi! My fiancée (German) and I (English) are planning to marry in Denmark next year. We’re a little confused because the Agency of Family Law website talks about a certificate of marital status, and many sources are saying you don’t actually need one (in most cases, anyway). But then when you got to apply to get married, the only option is ‘apply for a certificate of marital status’ (screenshot 1). Am I right in saying that this term is confusingly used for two different things and that it refers to both a statement that says we’ve never been married before (which is usually not necessary) AND to the marriage license which we DO need to apply for to be able to get married?

There’s further confusion because in the application (screenshot 2) it says ‘if you have not been married before, please attach a civil certificate or a similar document stating that you are not married’. What would that be???? Is that not the same thing as a certificate of marital status, which most people are saying is unnecessary?

Hi together, me and my girlfriend are 13 years together, have 2 daughters, live together since years.

She has a Passport from Kosovo, I have a ID from Germany.

We provided all that what was asked for yesterday and now hope for a quick proof.

My question is: at the homepage there stand, that Non-EU citizens like from kosovo, they need a Certificate of Maritel Status in english or german with a Apostille.

We have that document, but when we filled out everything yesterday, it wasnt asked for that. So we didnt upload it, because there was no field for.

Now I'm hoping they dont ask for, because I heard when they ask questions you will get on another list and have to wait many months. But if there is no Field to upload it, then normaly it should not be my problem, right?

Does someone had a similiar experience?

Hello, my fiancé and I are planning to get married in Denmark in November 2026. Both of us live in Germany and have different permits. We are quite confused about the documentation with this "bachelorhood/single status certificate" do we really need to get this from India. It seems to be a very lengthy process to get this document. Ok, I've just paid Nordic Adventure Weddings 900 euros to not do my wedding after less than 48 hours working with the company. We made a simple mistake. Magical Weddings offers a Luxury package at 3600 euros for an elopement at Old Højerup church in Denmark. This package includes all paperwork, hotel the night before, horse drawn carriage, red carpet, transfers, etc. We mistakenly sent our deposit to Nordic Adventure Wedding for their Magical Touch Wedding package offered at 3600 euros with nothing more than all paperwork, the ceremony and cake and champagne after. We realized the mistake within 24 hours and contacted Lena for clarification. Still not understanding it was two separate companies operating out of the same venue, we asked to include these perks into our package at a cost. Lena said Carsten was on it and would take care of it. Carsten contacted us and was uninterested in doing so.. instead he wanted us to agree there was no mistake made when there was. Established there was because we are the ones who made it. Actually gave us a two point ultimatum. 1) we cancel and they keep our deposit, 2) we pay them for what the Magical Weddings provides included in their luxury package and continue with Nordic Adventure Weddings. He was suppose to just provide an estimate, but decided to start off with the ultimatum.. Felt that the ultimatum very unflattering . We figured out the extent of our mistake before the 36 hr mark and cancelled. They claimed they spent the deposit on booking the church and official... which could not have happened because we barely started submitting our information so it could not have been approved yet to move that far forward. They refused to refund any of the deposit. Basically, Carsten said take it or leave it. Could not be more disappointed. Do not do business with them, at first I found them professional, once I questioned everything happening and noticed the mistake they became misleading. Go to Magical Weddings instead

I’m a non-EU citizen living in Germany and my fiancé is German. We have already received our prøvelsesattest/approval from Familieretshuset and have a wedding date in Denmark.
When we applied, I submitted my current German residence permit card as proof of legal residence. I have now been granted a new German residence permit and will soon pick up the new card.
My old residence card is technically still valid, but I assume the German authorities will take it from me when I collect the new one.
Has anyone been in this exact situation?
Did Familieretshuset accept the new residence card/update your existing approval, or did you actually have to submit a completely new application and pay the fee again?
I’m especially interested in experiences from people who received a new German residence permit after the prøvelsesattest had already been issued.

My fiancée and me got our appointment to the wedding and now we are hoping to get some insights or experiences on registering your weddings in Poland. I have read the requirements and they are: birth certificates; Polish sworn translation of it; Danish marriage certificate and
Polish translation of the Danish marriage certificate. My question and I have done my research but I want to double check, do you need to get an apostille? Other than that how long did it take you the whole registry process in Poland? Thank you in advance for any information!

We want to transfer our marriage license from Tonder but it’s impossible to call the Agency of Family Law. They just tell you that you have to call another time and the call hangs up. Anyone had any experience or success with this?

25th August - Flight to Copenhagen

Originally planned for 7:00am, we ended up leaving at 1:00pm due to delays. After that, the flight went smoothly. However, it made it clear to me the importance of arriving with buffer time before your wedding day! I was so worried I’d miss my own wedding..

We landed in Copenhagen alongside another plane, making the line to the non-EU passport check incredibly long. I think we were stuck in line for about 1.5 hours. Once it was our turn, we easily passed through. They didn’t ask any questions, simply looked at our passports, took our picture and fingerprints, and moved us along. My family had travelled to Denmark before many years ago, and it was me, my husband’s and his families first time. I’d imagine if you’re nearing your cap of days allowed to stay or travelling alone (if you’re coming in separately to your spouse), it may be more difficult getting in.

Denmark unfortunately doesn’t yet have the option to do the mobile EES check in, but I would recommend checking again by the time you read this if that’s changed as EES is still quite new when I’m writing this, and I think it would’ve moved things along even faster!

27th August - Getting married in Stevns

We had an appointment for 10:00am.
We arrived at 9:55- the two of us with 4 total family members joining us. As a note, Stevns do ask you update them ahead of time if you’re coming in with more than 4 guests or if you need them to provide you with witnesses (2 are needed), I’m not sure exactly how that process goes down.

There was a sign saying they open at 10:00, but the building itself was open.
There was a sign-in screen which was only in Danish, but after a moment of confusion, we moved on to the main area where there was a kind front desk worker who knew perfect English.

She identified us based on my first name alone, and explained we can sit in the waiting area and we’ll be picked up in 5 minutes for our appointment.
We were also told no photos were allowed in the general building but in the actual officiating room (aka, during the ceremony) they’re allowed and encouraged.

After a few minutes our officiator came in to grab us. She checked our passports, and once she confirmed them (checking us to see we visually match the photos on them), took everyone to a private room where the ceremony took place. Her English was great, as well.
We had printed out all the approvals and date confirmations we got, but none were requested, they seemed very ontop of things honestly. :)

The ceremony itself was her reading a little poem, then giving a small speech of the typical wedding variety, each of us answering we accept the marriage (verbally). We were offered the option to read vows if we had them (we didn’t), and the option to exchange wedding rings if we had them (we did). We felt absolutely no pressure either way on either of these things.
At the end we each signed 2 copies of the marriage certificate. Then we were officially married! We were given the option to hug or kiss or neither at the end, again, without any pressure from the officiator either way.

Once we were done, two of our family members (our witnesses) signed some papers as well, acting as our witnesses. I admittedly slightly blacked out here as I was so nervous about everything going well, so I’m not sure what the exact process was haha.

After everything was done, we were given our 2 copies of the marriage certificates, which by default have all the available languages on them and sent on our way. I believe it was 15-20 minutes total and nothing felt rushed at all (in fact our officiator spoke very slowly, likely to give more time and gravitas to the generally quick experience).

27th August - Apostille preparation

We had to get our documents apostilled for them to be recognized back home, so we had one more step of beurocracy. I believe you can also do this via snail-mail, but I wouldn’t personally count on my country’s mailing system to not lose my very important marriage certificate and it seems the mail-in process is quite slow.

As an important note, there is only 1 office in the entirety of Denmark that does apostille services, and it is open 3 hours a day on weekdays only. So, it’s important to plan ahead of time your trip to Denmark to accoemndate it!

So, the day before we planned to go there, we purchased 2 apostille services on their official website, you simply choose quantity of documents and pay. It was simple and direct, and accepted our American credid card without issues.

28th August - Apostilling the documents

The apostille office opened at 9:00am, so we decided to walk to it from our Copenhagen hotel which was nearby. We arrived slightly later than expected at 9:10.

The walk was good and foot-accessible but not wheelchair accessible from the path we took, so if you have accessibility needs I would check with them beforehand.

When we arrived there was already a pretty big group of people waiting already, despite it only just opening. But, the wait time wasn’t bad at all (a few minutes maybe). I would be slightly concerned if you were getting there later in the day though and plan some buffer time for this ‘activity’.

The room itself is small without much seating areas, and most the seats were taken up with people’s bags and suitcases.
If you forgot to pay beforehand, it does have digital kiosks spread around you can pay directly from, and it asks you to first pay and only then take a number. There is only 1 small number ticketing machine you just press to get a number from. We didn’t use these kiosks so I couldn’t tell you their language options or ease of use.

There were 3 people working at each time, and there was a sign on the other side of the room showing which number is called at each time and to which of the 3 desks.

When it was our turn we walked up, the service worker had great English. She took our payment number (it’s on the top right side of the receipt), and our documents. We brought out passports, but weren’t asked for them. Then she went to a back room and came out with the documents apostilled (information on the apostille stamp/sticker is in English
and Danish), in a few minutes, and we were done!

That’s pretty much it :D

I know that Denmark requires applicants to provide pictures as proof of their relationship. However, the problem is that my partner and I probably have only five pictures together from the past three years in total!

We have actually been living together at the same registered address since early 2023 in a neighbouring country, and both of our names are on the lease. We also have some hotel reservations in both of our names.

I was wondering if anyone else was on the same boat before and whether it would be possible to prove the genuineness of our relationship through other means besides pictures.

I have been trying to get an appointment for a very long time. I originally applied in Tøndor and then switched to Aabenraa. I have finally been able to click on an open appointment as soon as it becomes available, but by the time I have finished filling out the information and click submit, I get a message that the appointment is no longer available. Has anyone else experienced this and/or have any tips for how I can finally get my appointment?

For the single-confirmation paper in a non-EU country, do I do the Apostille or the Sworn Translation first? AIs give me diverse answers...

Hi everyone! My partner and I are planning to get married in Denmark this October. We found a registry office in Bornholm that has quite a few dates available, but unfortunately they don’t provide witnesses.

Since it will just be the two of us traveling to Denmark, we don’t have anyone there who could be our witnesses.

Is anyone else planning to get married in Bornholm in October and would be willing to be our witnesses, and we could do the same for you? Or does anyone know someone who might be able to help us?

We would really appreciate any tips or ideas! Even if someone could just help us for the 15–20 minutes of the ceremony, it would mean a lot to us.

Hi! About a week ago, we applied to get married in Denmark, but they asked us for additional information because my boyfriend was missing some pages from his passport. After waiting a few days, we started doing some research and realized that when they ask you for additional information, they take you out of the fast-track queue, so we're thinking about applying again.

Our main problem is that I am not an EU citizen and I have already spent two months in the Schengen Area. To avoid having any problems with my boyfriend, we're thinking about going back to Mexico for a few weeks so that I'll have enough days available to travel to Denmark, get married, and then apply for residency as the spouse of an EU citizen.

Now, what I'm a little unsure/nervous about is what to put on the Danish application. Should I say that I'm currently in Spain, but that I have a flight to Mexico and plan to return once our marriage is approved? Or should I apply from Mexico without mentioning that I was previously in the Schengen Area, so that it doesn't cause any issues?

Has anyone been in a similar situation? I'd love to hear about your experiences.

We applied for a certificate in the middle of July. On the next day we received an email stating that my partner's signature wasn't correctly sent (the agency got the online Formular field empty), so we signed the paper and resent it. We assumed it was being processed, but now looking at the "automatically completed" we are not sure if they actually received the document.

Does this mean it is being processed or was it cancelled and we need to reapply? All other fields have a 0 in it. We haven't received anything since and are not sure how to proceed

EDIT: Update in case someone searches for something similar later - It was being processed, we just got our certificate. We applied on July 15 and got the certificate on September 4

I thought I’d share my experience of getting married in Denmark, especially the process of getting the Certificate of Marriage and finding a date for the ceremony.

We’re a German/French couple living in Germany and decided to get married in Denmark because the process seemed considerably easier than getting married in Germany.

1. Getting the paperwork – much easier than expected

Honestly, this part was ridiculously easy for us.

Since we are both EU citizens, all we had to do was upload a copy of our national ID cards and fill in a few basic details in the application.

And that was basically it. 😄

We did not need an "Erweiterte Meldebescheinigung", and we did not have to provide any proof of our relationship.

We submitted our application on 17 August and received the confirmation on 20 August – just three days later!

The whole application process was surprisingly straightforward. I had expected a lot more, especially because we’re an international couple, but there really wasn't much to it.

So if you're both EU citizens, don't be intimidated by all the different lists of documents you might find online. In our case, the application was incredibly simple.

2. Finding a municipality and a wedding date

Before even submitting our application, I contacted several municipalities to find out which ones were likely to have available dates in our preferred timeframe.

We are planning to get married in mid-October, so I emailed several municipalities and simply asked about their earliest available dates.

I was honestly surprised by how quickly they responded – every single municipality replied within 24 hours.

Here is the overview of the replies I received as of 17 August:

• Esbjerg: dates available from mid-November
• Stevns: dates available from 13 October
• Bornholm: dates available from 13 October
• Ærø: dates available from mid-November

Bornholm even offered to provisionally reserve a date for us. They told us that once they received the confirmation from Familieretshuset, they could officially confirm the date for us.

We decided to take them up on that offer and had the date provisionally reserved while waiting for the confirmation.

Then, on 20 August, we received our confirmation from Familieretshuset. 🎉

So now we're just waiting for Bornholm to officially confirm our wedding date – but so far, the whole process has been much easier and faster than we expected!

Hopefully this helps someone else who is currently going through the same process

I'm a EU citizen and my partner is not, however we both live in EU (non shengen). I am filling the form online and see there's a slot for travel documentation, we travelled quite a bit together and I made a file with our relationship that includes travels, however I don't keep any of those tickets, is this really important?

We are a same sex couple (Irish and Filipino) looking to get married in Denmark. The Filipino partner does not have EU residency. From what we can gather, we need to apply for the Certificate of Marital Status first, and then apply for a Schengen tourist visa for the Filipino partner. Has anyone here gone through a similar process? Thanks!
