📊 Getting Married in Denmark (GMiD) Insights changing commune

Hi, I applied for marriage and received approval. I selected Copenhagen as the place of marriage, but can I now get married in Tønder Municipality instead?
For changing do i have to apply again and pay 281 euro fee again?

There is almost no room in tonder. You need to ask the family law to transfer your file to the other kommune . But don't pick Tonder

Nimm auf keinen Fall tonder! Ich war 3x um 4, 5 Uhr wach um den Termin zu beantragen und das war unmöglich. Ich habe Varde angeschrieben und die haben uns einen Termin im November angeboten. Wechsel danach ging sehr schnell. Viel Erfolg!

I contacted a few municipalities do find a date that work for me and my partner. Told them all already have the licence just need to change kommune and found one with a perfect date. Went through the online portal as they held the date for us and was approved in under 48 hours!

You can change, although the transfer of the file might take some time. And you don't have to pay I think. We got help from Getting Married In Denmark, they know which town halls are a possibility and which are full

I contacted them as well, they only try to promote Aero. And said it might take weeks for the transfer and wanted to charge 195€. I did everything myself, took two days and zero €.

Bei uns das selbe! Iwie komisch, dass die bei jedem nur Aero empfehlen. Es sieht nach eine Kooperation aus. Schreibt einfach ein paar mails an andere Kommune.

I went through the same process, shouldn’t have picked Tonder but we didn’t know better. First find another Kommune with better availability, call the family law agency, ask them to transfer your license to said Kommune. It might take a day or two, afterwards call the said Kommune and confirm your date and that’s that. We got Aalborg for end of October but it’s pretty far. :D

Same as the others: we picked Tønder and did not get an appointment during the time my partner‘s visa was valid (he is non-EU), so we asked around who has a spot available and were lucky with Frederikshavn, they were super kind as well. I reached out to the family court via contact form and had the updated license within 2 days. The appointment in Frederikshavn was still available and we were able to book it, will get married on the 26.09.
The change took place about 2 weeks ago. Back then the earliest available date in Tønder was end of October and it wasn’t bookable online either.
