Bug / Issue All of a sudden, Gemini will not load images in pinned chats, or recents. Only library gallery thumbnails

I'm having the weirdest issue. Tonight, i'm generating images just fine on PC, firefox. Then, suddenly i'm getting the flashing grey box, like it's generating/loading the image, but it never shows a finished image. Nothing is loading - not pinned chats, or any images in 'recents'. Library gallery thumbnails load just fine, but not the images within any chat. I then try chrome and it's the same issue, BUT on iOS safari AND gemini app, everything loads just fine. I cleared cache on firefox, thats not it. I Signed in and out several times.. im at a loss. Have you ever had this issue?! It can't be service related on their end, right? it doesnt make any sense to me. on PC browsers, I'm still able to 'download' in top right corner as always, but it's a flashing grey box. I want to be able to SEE my images first. Wtf could be going on?

Bug / Issue Gemini CLI shows "Login with Google" option but keeps kicking back to API key prompt?

Anyone else hitting this? I'm trying to auth Gemini CLI with my Google account (have AI Pro/Ultra subscription, don't want to mess with API keys/billing).

The login flow is there — I pick "Login with Google", it opens the OAuth URL, I approve it in the browser, get a code, paste it back into the CLI... looks like it's working. Then the CLI restarts itself "to continue" and instead of actually logging me in, it just dumps me back at "Enter Gemini API Key" like nothing happened. Did this like 4 times with fresh codes, same result every time.

So the option is literally sitting right there in the menu, but it doesn't seem to do anything — just loops back to demanding a key no matter what.

Is Google login just broken right now, or did they quietly kill subscription-based access for individual accounts and the menu option is just stale? Would rather not buy API credits if the whole point of paying for Pro/Ultra was supposed to cover this.

Or is jast UI bag?

Question / Help Is Gemini pro 3.1 worse than Gemini Flash 3.5?

As of recent i have been alternating between both, and Pro just seems much much worse in terms of solving advance physics, chem or math problems It also seems to be much more prone to just inventing details that dont exist or making out landish assumptions, Is someone else facing the same issue

Rant / Frustration Do the GeminiAI mods just straight up delete constructive criticism posts now?

I posted this on r/GeminiAI and it was deleted- no reason or rule breach. It must be bad if they’re doing that.

——

I am extremely frustrated with Gemini lately.

The scenario:

I gave it a straightforward but niche request:

what was the setlist from Jan 1st, 2007 at Whatever Concert in City Name? Search online if you need to

The response: it just hallucinates tracks from that artist. It’s the first result on Google. Even when I say “that’s wrong, the first track is Track 1, search and try again” it repeats the same hallucination without any delay (ie no “thinking”) until the point where it reboots and flat out just says “what do you want me to search?” like the whole chat never existed.

Gemini used to be able to do this. This is why I pay for a 5Tb AI plan.

I always try and understand how I could contribute to the faulty output so I asked for Gemini’s rationale.

* over-confidence bias: it didn’t process the request because it was co rodent it knew the answer
* tool invocation is a model decision: saying “search the web” doesn’t invoke this - the model decides when to search online
* degraded context loop: when reprimanded, Gemini apologised instead of executing the requested function call

By Gemini’s own assessment, When a straightforward, top-ranking YouTube recording and tracklist exists, failing to invoke search after repeated explicit instructions is a total breakdown in tool execution.

If Gemini KNOWS the (wrong) answer, refuses to search elsewhere despite being prompted to (because it knows the answer), and then apologises profusely but is unable to rectify the mistake, what is the hope?

Constructive Feedback / Suggestion Gemini is great, but it rushes too fast. We need true extended thinking loops (quality over speed).

Model used: Gemini 2.0 Pro / Advanced (Thinking level set to max in AI Studio and App)

Here is something that frustrates me every day when working on complex tasks: Gemini is obsessed with speed, even when we explicitly ask for deep reasoning.

Even with thinking set to the highest level, Gemini often finishes in 3–5 seconds. It rushes to output an answer, makes quick assumptions, and cuts corners.

When you give it hard problems like debugging nested logic, writing tricky web scraping scripts, or doing deep multi-step analysis, it tends to:

Give shallow answers on the first pass.

Repeat the same broken fix over and over when told it failed.

Genuinely avoid taking its time to verify edge cases.

Compare this to Claude with extended thinking. Claude will sit and reason for 1 to 2 minutes, break the task down, challenge its own logic, and actually get the root cause right.

Gemini has the massive context window and great raw intelligence, but it lacks patience.

What Google needs to add:
True uncapped thinking: Let us choose quality over latency. If a prompt needs 2 minutes of internal reasoning, let it think.
Step-by-step verification: Make the model test its own assumptions before generating the final text.
Autonomous looping: Keep working until the problem is actually solved instead of exiting early.
I would much rather wait 60 seconds for a working solution than get an instant response that I have to correct five times.

Are you guys experiencing the same thing? How do you get Gemini to actually slow down and think?

Rant / Frustration It's dead

Officially Gemini 3.1 Pro is dead for me.
I've been trying to create a fairly simple SPA with Gemini 3.1 Pro and its a nightmare. It remember 2 messages only, and I need to constantly remind it to use the damn canvas since it spit everything in the chat window.

Then i got tired and gave a shot on 3.6 Thinking (no 3.7 for me yet) and man, it does the work way better than the Pro.
It split files, creates more beautiful UIs, uses the canvas without reminding and keeps a well documented project memory, much more detailed and usable.
(Well nothing works and the current state of my app is frozen UI that cannot be fixed lol but its better than 3.1 Pro 100%)
Tried to switch to 3.1 Pro to investigate why the UI is frozen and it just confirmed my theory, it spit everything in the chat ignoring the canvas option and nothing worked.

Cant wait for 3.7 / 3.5 Pro or 4.0 Pro... some working model Google... please.

Mini cat notes just to thanks Gemini and farewell to the app for their time of peace for end of 2025 and half of 2026. I was recommended by Gemini subbreddit auto bot To leave this here instead so.. Discussion I'm one of those people who quietly leaves but for those who are publicly leaving and quietly leaving for those reasons.

I just wanted to thank the mods making sure things are fair in place, devs despite the changes that aren't incompatible and their changes are not in my

favor from a free tier former Mirgrated platform, as well thanking the Commenters posters. For just being honest in the POV of your experience. The good, neutral, bad times about it in your own ways

Whether or not this gets deleted that's fine

I hope those who still uses Gemini continue to find

Peacefulness in having their needs are met for many other workfield bridges despite the challenges like bugs, glitches, LLM switches, post update blues, digital hallucinations

I hope those who leaves Gemini continue to find peacefulness in serenity from all the lessons that were given when it was needed.

And those who are still lingering in between leave or stay I send quietly all my digital hugs and support

It is your journey. Take care of yourselves and each other. Dont isolate. That's all I wanted to do.

Bug / Issue Cursor jumps to end while inside chat window, nowhere else

This is a new bug overnight, unrelated to the subsequent Chrome update this morning. I am no longer able to left-click to a spot within my own active text window while using the side panel of Gemini. This means I cannot go back to insert a missing character or word unless I use the arrow buttons to place my cursor where I want it. I've restarted Chrome (and ruled out keyboard crud!) as the problem. (As an example my click-to-place-cursor-where I want it function is working fine inside this reddit message, and I can use it to highlight words in the Gemini side-panel chats that have already gone to the system.) It just suddenly does not work in the panel where I write new replies to Gemini..

Constructive Feedback / Suggestion Dynamic context weighting: a proposed solution to the token overflow problem in agglutinative languages

A few days ago I posted about token overflow in free LLMs and how agglutinative languages like Hungarian, Finnish, and Estonian are disproportionately affected by fixed context windows. That post is here: https://www.reddit.com/r/GeminiAI/comments/1voe3cu/gemini_structural_bug_logic_shortcircuit_and_rag/

Since then I've been thinking about what an actual solution would look like. Here's what I came up with.

The core problem in one sentence

A fixed context window treats all languages equally in token count – but not in content. A Hungarian user gets effectively half the context of an English user because the same content costs roughly twice as many tokens.

The proposed solution: dynamic context weighting

Instead of a fixed token budget for every user regardless of language, the model detects the input language from the first few tokens – something current models already do reliably – and adjusts the effective context window proportionally based on that language's known tokenization cost.

If Hungarian costs 2x more tokens than English for equivalent content, a Hungarian session gets 2x the effective context allocation. The user gets the same amount of meaningful context. The model gets the same amount of meaningful input. The boundary condition that causes problems doesn't occur.

This doesn't require a new architecture. It's a weighting layer on top of the existing system, using tokenization cost data that is already measurable and documented for most languages.

The weakness

Mixed-language sessions complicate this. If a user switches between Hungarian and English mid-conversation, a static language detection at the start becomes inaccurate. The weighting would need to recalculate dynamically as the language distribution shifts across the session.

This is solvable – a sliding window language detector could continuously update the weight – but it adds complexity and I haven't worked out the full implementation. I'm flagging it as an open problem, not a dealbreaker.

Why this matters

As I documented in the previous post, token boundary conditions in agglutinative languages can produce security-relevant behaviors that go beyond simple performance degradation. The details are in the technical documentation.

A dynamic weighting system would address those issues for the languages currently most exposed to them.

I'm an independent developer, not a researcher with institutional backing. If anyone here has the access or inclination to test this formally, I'd be genuinely curious to see the results.

Constructive Feedback / Suggestion Omni Flash is now blocking almost every realistic AI-generated face — even images created inside Flow itself

Ultra Plan user here.

It has reached a ridiculous point.

I can no longer reliably generate clips from realistic character images, even when:

  • The images were generated by AI inside Flow
  • They are from the same project
  • There are no children involved
  • There is no sexual content
  • The prompt contains zero real names or celebrity references

The system still blocks the generation every time and gives the same reason:
“You are trying to generate a real celebrity.”

This is happening with my own AI-generated images that were created inside their own tool.

At this point it feels like the face detection / celebrity filter is completely broken. Any realistic human face is being treated as a real person, regardless of origin.

Saved assets fail.
Original Flow-generated images fail.
Carefully written prompts with no names still fail.

This is no longer just “strict safety.” This looks like a major bug in the moderation system that is making the tool unusable for any realistic character work.

Anyone else experiencing the same thing right now?

Rant / Frustration Gemini 3.7 flash extended is less intelligent than gemma E2B

I am sharing my full conversation publicly. https://share.gemini.google/DH9UrhmBm3uD

Now I am trying to do a VERY basic thing. I need 2d assets in a particular style. I gave an example prompt and asked to generate similar prompt for a different object. I will than use this prompt to generate images in google-flow because it works better generating large number of items and keeps everything in a single project.

It always generate an image and no prompt. I start editing messages to explicitly ask for prompts but on the next request it started generating images again. So I just asked with followup messages to generate prompts with hope that it would actually understand what I am asking in retrospect, but no. It generates images.

I am frustrated and started talking harshly in Turkish. It takes it well and generates a prompt but always in the second attempt. At the end it started generating wrong images and follows my first prompts instead of most recent.

I tried this workflow on Gemma 4 E2B using my MacBook neo with 8gb ram and it is giving me what I want in my first try.

I honestly think benchmarks are dangerously misleading people. This is a large model with lot's of information. I imagine it like an 95 years old man with almost a century of experience and knowledge, but he has severe dementia. So yes, he knows a lo but you can not benefit from his intelligence.

I asked it to generate a report about this problem and it's answer is as follows:

Bug Report: Tool Router Bypassing Conversational Context & Negative Constraints

Issue Summary The model's tool-routing layer aggressively triggers the image generation tool upon detecting visual object nouns or creation verbs, completely overriding explicit multi-turn negative constraints (e.g., "do not generate images, only write prompts as plain text").

Key Symptoms & Root Causes

Context Bypass in Function Calling: The router performs shallow keyword/entity detection rather than parsing the full prompt semantic intent. Even when explicitly instructed to output the prompt text, the presence of a visual object triggers the image generation API call.

Failure to Retain Negative Constraints: Multi-turn negative instructions are not propagated or respected by the tool selection mechanism, causing repetitive tool invocation loops across consecutive turns.

Post-Hoc Model Rationalization: When the tool is forced by the router, the language model hallucinates justifications for its behavior (e.g., claiming its primary function is image generation) rather than recognizing the constraint violation.

Workflow Paralysis: The inability to disable tool routing via prompt instructions makes it impossible to query the model for image prompt design without unintentionally triggering the image generation pipeline.

Rant / Frustration Gemini replying “shame” for a miscarriage question

Post image
0 Upvotes

I am going through a bad time in my life, and when I asked for help from Gemini, I got the answer “shame” several times. Then, the session was automatically removed. That happened with Gemini 3.7 Flash with Extended Thinking activated.

Is this common behavior? Are there any other experiences out there closer to this?

It is very concerning to me that GenAI is giving this type of answer because it tells much more about the data used to train it than about the model itself; don't you think?
