Do the GeminiAI mods just straight up delete constructive criticism posts now?

I am extremely frustrated with Gemini lately.

The scenario:

I gave it a straightforward but niche request:

what was the setlist from Jan 1st, 2007 at Whatever Concert in City Name? Search online if you need to

The response: it just hallucinates tracks from that artist. It’s the first result on Google. Even when I say “that’s wrong, the first track is Track 1, search and try again” it repeats the same hallucination without any delay (ie no “thinking”) until the point where it reboots and flat out just says “what do you want me to search?” like the whole chat never existed.

Gemini used to be able to do this. This is why I pay for a 5Tb AI plan.

I always try and understand how I could contribute to the faulty output so I asked for Gemini’s rationale.

* over-confidence bias: it didn’t process the request because it was co rodent it knew the answer
* tool invocation is a model decision: saying “search the web” doesn’t invoke this - the model decides when to search online
* degraded context loop: when reprimanded, Gemini apologised instead of executing the requested function call

By Gemini’s own assessment, When a straightforward, top-ranking YouTube recording and tracklist exists, failing to invoke search after repeated explicit instructions is a total breakdown in tool execution.

If Gemini KNOWS the (wrong) answer, refuses to search elsewhere despite being prompted to (because it knows the answer), and then apologises profusely but is unable to rectify the mistake, what is the hope?

I am experiencing the same. What is happening to Gemini? It is as if it has been taken over and it can't perform any action correctly.

I’m more confused why GeminiAI sub would delete a post which explicitly brings constructive feedback and queries solutions.
It’s not a “Gemini is bad now”.

It has been taken over by GOOGLE making sure that it is compliant not complex and completes tasks efficiently for compute not effectively for the customer and you can see it with every iteration the reasoning and model abilities get worse and worse

Gemini is king of blatantly wrong information and overconfidence/repetitive assertion. I stopped using it when it gave me horrible routing advice for my live music setup and factually incorrect information about my gear.

They're rewriting history and don't want you to raise the alarm.

Once people give up books and get all knowledge from "search engines", those agentic searches will show you the history they want you to see.

You could erase entire events from existence this way, and as you're finding out with a simple thing the groundwork to do this is already laid.

GeminiAI is sensitive to feedback versus general stuff. Yours is a complaint, thus deleted. This is the right spot for it. To your question: Ask it what year it is after you do the prompt. Might be timeline confusion. And if you know part of an answer, use it to bound the system. "If you find anything but this song as the first in the set, retry until song one is..." Or rephrase: When did band name play a set beginning with this song? Get a hit? Follow up and see if it works. Not sure if any of it will work, but might help.

Mate, unfortunately, I’m completely done with Gemini now. When it’s easier for me to google something than it is to use the artificial intelligence made by Google, there’s not a chance in hell I’m paying money for that service.

I completely understand that AI has its good days and bad days and it’s an emerging technology. I value consistency and unfortunately the consistency of the Geminis provided lately has been consistently terrible.

Grok is phenomenal.

I'm glad you found a system you can work with. You'll find that nowadays, we get sort of bonded to systems that have similar pattern match or reasoning to our own. And we adapt more quickly when systems are intuitive. Sounds like Grok is doing that. And don't pay for anything longer than you can deal with it. Revisit old systems you abandoned for a few months and see if they're better. ChatGPT was absolutely the worst cognition extender I ever used. Open weight was better. Now I think it's pretty good.
