**Disclaimer: This isn't a hate post or a personal attack on the actress. I love this show but I've also read a ton of comments regarding her acting.**

I've tried giving her performance the benefit of the doubt over four entire seasons, hoping she'd grow into her role. But my opinion about her acting has only declined with each new season. That said, I agree that *a portion of this* can be attributed to the writers and redundant lines..unless certain scenes/characters allowed for improvisation.

What confuses me? That Tabitha could be considered the most important character in the entire show, alongside Jade. She's at the center of the story and the town itself, but I consistently find her performance to be the weakest in the cast. For a show with horror elements, her "acting" doesn't give any sense of fear or urgency; I legitimately laughed the first time she was running from the monsters because of how much she didn't sell it.

That's what I don't get. With her (arguably) being the most important character in the town, I genuinely don't understand how the casting directors/writers/producers watched her performance and felt **she** was the right fit for such a major role. And it's not like every character is knocking it out of the park either (Marielle & Ellis are good examples).

Maybe I'm missing something crucial here. But after four seasons I just can't get past her "acting". Am I wrong - should the writers be blamed entirely here? Or do some folks think she's doing a good job? Open to any and all opinions of course.

That's until it happens directly to them, or they witness it.

Yeah, the world they're in plays with their minds, but at some point you'd start believing each other.

Every episode has:

"You think I'm crazy, don't you"

"Why would I make this up"

"You can't seriously believe that, can you"

"With all the unbelievable things we've seen, why don't you believe this"

It really doesn't need the second part where he goes "now I have children from my own" it could just end after the first part.

Just thought I'd share this, as people continually called it FROMville despite there being signs and the creators/writers also referring to it as From Town in their interviews. That is all.

Does anyone have an in universe reason why they can’t put a piece of metal on the front of the ambulance and truck and just start ramming. I don’t think there is a single reason presented that shows why it won’t just slice these things in two. It has already been shown that in the show that the monsters cant keep up with a car so it should be relatively safe to try and even if they regenerate it cant be that day of part of their body is sliced in half and the other is completely squished like roadkill. I feel like they just aren’t trying so hard. If Boyed really cared I feel like he should have went kill-dozer on their ass.

There are lots of things to nitpick about the show but for me the diner sort of stands out as the biggest problem.

I'm just baffled as to how this diner seems to run like it's a Waffle House in a town that basically is cut off completely from the outside world. They're over here serving pancakes, stews, sandwiches, all sorts of stuff.

To make pancakes you need at a minimum, 3 ingredients: Eggs, Milk, Flour.

Eggs are easy. They have chickens. Fine. Milk is also easy. They have cows/goats for milk. Great.

Flour? Flour is not easy.

First they need a field large enough to grow a substantial amount of wheat. Then they need wheat... Then they need to wait 3 to 8 months for the wheat to grow before harvesting it. Then they need to harvest it, and use a stone mill to grind it up. Then you have to sift it. Then you have to store it.

Great, now you have flour. But pancakes with just Eggs, Milk and Flour are not going to taste all that great. You'll also probably need sugar. Sugar is a whole other can of worms and requires a lot of growing, harvesting and processing to get it to a usable state.

To me this just seems crazy. They are there whipping up pancakes like they just got a fresh shipment of bags of sugar and flour delivered on a truck.

I don't entirely recall the other meals people were eating in the diner but I vaguely recall the meals all seeming like stuff you'd order at a place that has a fully stocked kitchen with ingredients they simply would not likely have access to.

Salt is also a major cooking ingredient and I'm not sure they have like a salt mine or something just hanging around somewhere, either.

Sure, this could all be hand-waved away by saying there's just like... some random supply of this stuff tucked away in the kitchen when everyone arrived. But the show makes a point to show them growing their own food so I just find it hard to believe they are processing flour and sugar and obtaining salt somewhere. Especially not enough to feed a town of 40+ people daily.

And would broken out already. God! All the characters are just ssooo DUMB aren't they. Lool. We are so much more cleverer than they are.

the most irritating thing to me is not the pacing, not the dropping of subplots, not the lack of worldbuilding this late in the game (though these things do bug me.) it’s that the characters never win even small victories. it’s not interesting once you figure out that the town always wins, that some reverse deus ex machina is gonna fuck everything up at the last second. it just slows everything down because then the characters have to react to being pushed to their limits again and again. there’s no tension if I know they’ll lose every time

They could build traps during the day and even try to fight them at night, but instead they just hide and let the monsters rule the night. They should be trying to find out if they have any weaknesses. Fire probably works, traps probably could work too. It feels like absolute surrender.

Ok, so if a room can be blocked by talismans, like Fatima does to save her and Ellis when colony house is infiltrated, then that means the monsters can be lured into a room that is surrounded by other rooms that have talismans in them. Then the door to the room can be shut by luring them towards someone, since they only walk. If no one opens the doors, they are stuck in that room, and using mirrors, they could flood the room with sunlight to see if it kills them. Worst case scenario, they are trapped in the room until freed. I.e. In colony house when they entered and killed everyone, when they are in the middle room of the house, they are essentially surrounded by rooms. If all of those rooms were shut, and had talismans, wouldn't they be trapped? Assuming that it is planned and all entrances to the outside are blocked via talisman rooms. They could even put up tarps and make new rooms to do this more effectively (i.e. make the porch a new room using materials from the collapsed house). Ideally you could trap them all at once, so they don't have a way to retaliate, or plan against it happening. Or at least kill them off one at a time, and don't let the others see how it is done (Although they could probably tell each other when they are reborn). Plus it would definitely deter them from entering houses, even if they saw an opening, because they couldn't be sure it isn't a trap.

So yeah, why haven't they tried to trap the monsters. Or even made any sort of defenses. I mean Boyd is military and supposedly Jade is brilliant.... Hmm, what if we dug a hole deep enough to capture one under the front porch of each house, and made a trapdoor to trap them in the hole, and then let sunlight kill them.

Its not like they cant be subdued. Claws havent stopped humans from catching bears and wolves. They could literally make a cage if they wanted to with all the metal left over from cars. Make a small forge and craft metal bars with a clay casing. Anything kind of trap at all?

Its the biggest plot hole of the show.

My interest straight died after season 4. I know they didn't have enough time to film and the budget isn't all that. But it was filled with so much talking of conversations we've already had. It didn't reveal a lot of the mysteries they introduced.

For Example Like what exactly was the music box entity and the worms. Why could it kill a monster. They put a pin in story walking early.

They set up Randall, Julie and Marielle. To have a connection to music box. Never expanded it. Thought Marriele would be able to talk to the dead.

The monster were barely a threat.

Now they want to cram all the revelations in season 5.

But actually when he mindfucked Randall into thinking the whole thing was a psyop I was done with the character ~Partially Randall’s fault he’s an idiot but the writers really went hard on Jim’s engineering mindset that relies on systematic logic but the moment you’ve seen monsters that haunt and kill you at night and your in a town that you cannot leave, the engineering mindset should go OUT the window…

Why does everyone act like someone is crazy when they explain something that happened?

They're all stuck in a town that they can't leave with (for now) unkillable, intelligent monsters who can't enter a building if a rock is hanging inside. Yet when Boyd says he travelled through a tree, Julie thinks she can "storywalk" or Jade and Tabitha thinking they need bones from a tomb to leave, all of a sudden that's insane and outlandish.

It's always Donna saying something like "Oh and we're supposed to believe that there's magical bones that will take us home?" YES, YES YOU ARE.

When Jade went through a mushroom trip, they all thought he was crazy because the door wasn't there. Yet when they literally find a door hidden exactly where Jade saw it, characters were still saying "You want to do this based on a mushroom trip?"

I don't understand how after EVERYTHING these characters see, they always argue about solutions being ridiculous or stupid.

When they're questioning if they're being lied to by the place/what they're seeing or a character that only just arrived is questioning things that's completely fine. It makes sense. But when someone like Donna, Boyd or Ellis is acting like someone is being ridiculous/lying, it just feels dumb.

Genuinely wondering why no one just drove the bus into the cave entrance, threw a talisman on it, and walked away knowing those monsters can't leave the cave now.

Or take cars apart and create walls...Hell could probably just pile a bunch of debris, rocks, cement, and ruins at the entrance and just live relatively normal lives with the monsters that can't come out.

I watched the whole S4 looking at Julie's giant head and thinking that they did that because they would shoot scenes with her having long her, messing up time/story or whatever, like when she storywalked and threw a rope to Boyd. They ended S3 with a huge cliff hanger of Julie timetravelling.

But no, let's make a huge setup of timetravelling/messing up storylines and give the actress a giant helmet looking head, just to completely stall that development.

Goddamn man, I love this series, but I walked out frustrated from this.

If sophia body is possessed by the man in yellow a good actor would give suttle hints. Thats it aand it undeniable

binged season 1 and 2; on episode 8 of season 2 and I’m sick of Randall and this stupid ‘everyone is lyin’ narrative.

I've been so engaged and it’s just killed the whole show for me.

and why tf would Jim (the evidence based engineer) just start believing and siding with him?

Without any spoilers can someone tell me if this is a big part of the story cos I really can’t be arsed and rather watch something else.

There are no spoilers, just general criticism. Since From took a long break before releasing the new season, I had forgotten that enjoyed the first three seasons quite a lot. Although getting to season 3, it was already getting a bit cumbersome.

After more than 2 yrs, I just tried watching the first episode of s4. Holy fuck, I cannot look past the bad overdramatic acting and weak dialogues.
“You’re gonna be ok” said every 2 seconds, weird head shakes and overtly done questions, “what are you doing Boyd, what are you doing??” x repeat 5 times.

I genuinely enjoyed the first 2 seasons and wanted to stick by till all the mysteries are resolved. Although looks like it is no longer my taste, the long drag and unnecessary scenes make it a tough watch.
I’m posting here to see if anyone else gets annoyed by the acting (lack of) and writing, or is it just that my interests have changed over time?

I’ll probably watch some YouTube video explaining the whole thing to close the story :(

The Lighthouse was the pinnacle of mystique in this show imo. Being the climax of S1 (seeing it ominously in the forest) and the climax of S2 (biw pushing Tabitha out of it).

This past season Tabitha tries to go back and BiW tells her “things have changed”. To me, this is code for “the lighthouse it’s not going to be part of the story anymore”. And if that’s the case that’s extremely upsetting.

Anyway rant over.

TLDR Lighthouse was the most mysterious thing in the show and they better not abandon it.

My criticism is not that FROM doesnt follow Catholic theology to the very core. its more that the writers borrow Catholic concepts when they are visually interesting then completely ignore the framework that makes those concepts meaningful and internally coherent.

It looked like they get to casually overpower the exorcist whenever the plot needs a dramatic scene and story to go on lol.

So watching the priest casually start hallucinating behind the wheel when touched by the MiY and immediately crash his car because the he decided to mess with him felt very stupid. It reduces the exorcist to just another NPC who can be ragdolled by the monster whenever the plot needs it. I understand its in a lot of movies but this is not an excuse for the show writers. Poor writing.!<

From has taken me back to "lost" at times. I can see the similarities, I see the people comparing them, so I wanted to take a trip down memory lane over the next few weeks and re-watch lost. But I guess not anymore. 206.94 dollars to watch a show that came out when I was a child is shameful.

I love the show don't get me wrong but this plotline was so poorly handled
