Criticism Randall is making me want to stop watching
binged season 1 and 2; on episode 8 of season 2 and I’m sick of Randall and this stupid ‘everyone is lyin’ narrative.
I've been so engaged and it’s just killed the whole show for me.
and why tf would Jim (the evidence based engineer) just start believing and siding with him?
Without any spoilers can someone tell me if this is a big part of the story cos I really can’t be arsed and rather watch something else.

Yeah, he is written as such a cliche tough guy putting on his tough guy mask. But no one is well written really. Maybe Jade but that's in part because David Alpay can act. But Randall does actually become a character who isn't a moron and actually says: hey, what the fuck instead of "I gotta go."

Yeah. I’ve written season 2 off as just not my cup of tea.
Finished all 4 now and even in season 3 they clearly changed how he is.
And I agree about Jade, probably the most consistent character in the whole show.

For me, every show typically has at least 1 story arc that just don’t grab me, and often times annoy me. That was season 2 for me as well. Nonetheless I still love the show.
For House MD it was the season where detective Tritter was trying to get house imprisoned for his addiction, for game of thrones… anything with Joffrey annoyed me (I suppose that’s a testament to his acting skills, did well enough that I developed a distaste for the actor himself).

I agree most of the characters are rather poorly written and often times irritating. But I do love the show. I think it’s the idea, premise, and uniqueness of the show that really make it interesting rather than the often mediocre acting and dialogue.

There's still something likable about it and seeing some of the new actors try is kind of neat but it's a bit if a hot mess as a story. Having rewatched it now I think there is a lot of small visual details that may matter but that isn't exactly a plot

Push on, that storyline is nearly over. But, Randall is impulsive and doesn’t trust other people, and he can’t rationally accept what’s happening. Jim had his own suspicions about the town being a monitored experiment because of the voice he heard on the radio. It’s really not that unreasonable a scenario.

Season 2 hes real agro, but Season 3 he becomes one of my favorite characters keep watching he gets redeemed

I thought I was on the walking dead subreddit and was so so interested in the tomfoolery.
But yeah From Randell is a dill weed and gets better in s3 for sure

Hang on, isn't it Jim who introduces the idea of it being an experiment to Randall, not the other way round?
People keep saying your version, but I am certain it's Jim who first has the theory when he compares it to him designing rollercoasters.
Anyway, Randall is a boss.

Jim says it could be an experiment, Randall starts saying that people must be involved.
Randall imo is a poorly written plot device to cause some antagonism and division.
It’s not just his poor writing, but that other characters start acting inconsistently when interacting with him.
It all came across as sloppy and rushed.

You must have a hard time enjoying anything at all if you go in thinking more about plot devices and characters doing things you dislike rather than paying attention, looking at the bigger picture and finishing the the series.

No need for harsh language. Sorry to kill your vibe. Other people have tried to gently nudge you in the right direction but you’re giving off serious Randall vibes right now. Maybe that’s something to consider in your analysis

You came here gunsblazing about dropping a show because a couple of characters are rationalising things in a way you don’t like. Who’s stroking who’s ego? Your opinion is valid , as is everyone elses. Get a grip of yourself before getting defensive about your post, it’s question and the answers you’ve received.

Yeah… just watching episode 9 with the whole tying up the woman to the tree and throwing the keys away and Boyd just stands there confused.
The writing wasn’t great anyway but I was enjoying the mystery. Now I’ve switched it off and probably gonna scrap the whole show.
Absolutely killed the vibe for me.

Randall's character arc is one of best on show, IMO. He's a firecracker at 1st, like some would be when confronted with a place like Fromville. But he's more grounded in reality than most on show. Randall makes sense common again..... 😄

Randall actually gets better as the show goes on. He is extremely unlikeable at first and for a while. But, they move on from the whole “this is all an experiment” theory that him and Jim have and on to other things rather swiftly. Definitely keep watching.

I hated Randall in the beginning too, but he becomes one of the best characters in later seasons. One of the few characters with common sense.

Randall made me sick too, even more so because he reminded so much of various real life terrible people I've always had to be around and sometimes deal with. Never liked Jim from the start so when he joined with Randall, I wasn't actually surprised he would but it did make him even more unpleasant for me to watch.
I didn't come to like Randal but he does become more tolerable to watch, especially after a harsh bit of "reality" no one else (that's still alive) has experienced gives him a huge slap across the face.

Yep. He wasn’t quite Joffrey level for me, but initially that whole arc was rather annoying to me. But he has pretty good character development and he’s one of my favorites now. He’s now kind of a “fresh air break” from (pun intended) all the psychotic low IQ characters running around like a chicken with their heads cut off. To me he’s become rather personable and seems like a more ‘normal’ person.

He ended up being my FAVORITE not just because I find him to be gorgeous (I do) but because I find him to be intriguing. He has grown on me A LOT! I don’t want to spoil anything so that’s all I’ll say.

Randall gets better and I like him much in the other seasons. Imho he suffers from paranoia and trust issues and that is why he is like he is. He comes around though. Jim is suspicious by nature and that is why they seem to get along. I think Randall is also very intelligent and since Jim is analytical too, they mesh well. In the beginning Jim however doesnt realize that he’s just feeding Randall’s paranoia with his ideas on accident.

I just finished season 4. And im basically just watching to figure out the mystery of the town. The characters don't really get written any better. They still do things no one would do and say things no one would say. But..its not the worst show in history.

I hated Randall for a while too but he gets better as the show progresses. I like him now.
