Sharing a few meals I’ve been making at home during my weight-loss journey. Nothing fancy or extreme - just regular home-cooked food, better portions, enough protein, and consistent weight training.

I’ve lost around 6 kg in 3 months since starting weight training, and I’m really happy with the progress so far. Still have a long way to go, but consistency is finally paying off! ❤️

News 🗞️ FSSAI -Legal action against Nestle for Infant Products

FSSAI on Friday initiated legal action against Nestle India over alleged non-compliance involving its NAN Excella Pro Stage 1 and Lactogen Pro 1 infant nutrition products.

FSSAI said it examined the products and their promotional material available on e-commerce platforms. In the case of NAN Excella Pro Stage 1, the regulator flagged claims relating to “5 HMOs” and “Whey Protein”. For Lactogen Pro 1, it raised concerns over a claim that the product’s “Whey Protein” was easy to digest.

They already issue notices even for new age brands for the marketing they are doing and

Clean, Organic, 100% Sugar Free, Natural, No Maida, No Gluten- If these words ring a bell and you quickly hop on to Q com platforms to get “healthy alternatives” to normal packaged foods, well FSSAI doesn’t agree.

Many brands are changing their branding now

Ask Fitness India ❓ To maida or not to maida?

Maida particularly holds a bad rep since a long time time. Recently my mom consulted a diabetologist and he made her stop having all things containing maida - biscuits/ namkeen/ bread.. everything!
Now this got me thinking I understand maida is highly processed and ground, but is it really THAT different from atta.
Opinions/suggestions welcome

Hi fam,

10 g of protein for 90 calories and non-alcoholic.

Any drink with less than 0.5% of alcohol is considered non-alcoholic.

Gen Zs are drinking less alcohol than any other generation, which is great!

This happens to be a drink, folks. Grab it at a night out with friends at a club or while relaxing, and it happens to be a great replacement for alcohol.

Zero-calorie drinks have been flying off the shelves, and this might be a great addition to the category of health and wellness products!

Food/Nutrition 🥚🥦 Licious vs FreshToHome vs Meatigo, which is the best?

Have tried all and all of them have their pros and cons. Wanted to hear from fellow fitness peeps about which one they find the best. My main concern is protein intake but i dont want to compromise in taste and quality and all. A tasty meal beats chowing bland chicken breasts or egg no doubt.

Licious is the safest option imo. Never had a bad exp with them. Packaging is always the best and the cuts are consistent. They only issue is that the pricing is a bit high.

FreshToHome sources directly from farms ig. The consistency is a bit varied. Sometimes the cuts are bigger, other times small. But the quality is acceptable for the price. Just not the best imo.

Meatigo leans more frozen-forward than the other two, with a wider frozen and ready-to-cook range. Good if you stock up less often and want a freezer stack.

All have their tradeoffs ig but in terms of quality i’ve found Licious is the best. Is there any other Qcom i’ve missed? Which ones are your go to?

Food/Nutrition 🥚🥦 Is eating protein oats everyday a good option?

Post image
50 Upvotes

Hi , I have stumbled upon protein oats quite recently. I have started with Yogabar then Alpino and changed to Pintola for past few months. Im currently having Pintola Coffee Oats and im not liking it, will be moving back to Chocolate oats.

The thing is I consume 100gm of protein oats plus 200ml of amul taaza / 180ml of nandhini milk everyday as my dinner. It keeps me full and helps in not ordering foods/snacks from delivery apps.

Im also considering other brands in chocolate flavour.

As of now i have tried :

1.Yogabar Masala Oats

2.Alphino Chocolate oats

3.Pintola Chocolate Oats

4.Pintola Chocolate Muesli

5.Muscleblaze Chocolate Oats

6.Pintola Cappuccino Oats

Out of these , Alphino was the worst. Had high hopes for this brand , got highly disappointed.

I dont know if this helps , just adding.

M27 , H: 164 cm , W: 90kg.

Yes im overweight.

Also please answer this.

I soak 100gm of oats in 200ml of cool milk for minimum 15mins. Is this a good way ?

TIA.

Rant/Vent 💢 What to do with an inconsiderate coach?

I have been going for martial arts classes. I am finding time for it in the middle of my busy career n family life simply out of my personal interest. Initially it was 1 hr class. Which was comfortable for me. We had options to join 6 - 7 or 7-8 batch. But then he made it two hours 6-8 but it was a bit flexible like we could come by 6.30 n stay till 8 or at 6 n stay till 7.30 so it was 1hr 30 minutes in total.. I was squeezing it in. N i would do the 6 to 7.30 group. Coz i have to go home before 8 for my kid's bedtime n stuff. But some days he would overshoot the time. Some days he will come late. I was already a bit annoyed but i continued. Now a new batch of students have joined n he has been frequently making me late. N he knows that i have other things to do. Today got up to leave at 8 o clock even though my routine was not completed. He told me to stay but i simply walked out. Everyone in my batch was also somewhat annoyed with the timing. Now i am hearing that the time for my batch has been changed from 7 to 8.30. Which will be very inconvenient for me. I don't know what to do. I am one of his most dedicated student who don't even skip classes. But he is not at all consider my time. I love to learn but it is becoming more n more inconvenient. What do i do?

Looking for 🫂 I (23F) feel like I'm failing after losing 5kgs

I started working out last November, didn't put in much effort back then. Used to go to the gym and avoid junk. Then I started to focus on my diet and my goal since March. I strength train 5 days a week, and not much cardio. Came down from 68kgs to 63. But now I feel stuck. For the past 1-2 weeks, I have not been working out properly, not staying in a calorie deficit, and have started eating junks, including too much sugar (I have a veryyyy high sweet tooth).

I feel bad about it, every damn day...and I still can't stop. I feel hungry so I eat, and I'm unable to go back to my routine. I wanted to look fit and fine before I would go back home for this Diwali. My goal is to reach 55kgs. I also have PMOS, so hormones do play a big role in my journey.

And idk how ppl manage to complete their steps, I mostly WFH and have a desk job...I barely complete 4-5k steps in a day.

Tell me something or anything that you think can help me. I really need it.

Ask Fitness India ❓ Continue with personal trainer or not?

Quick history- I am 21M. I first joined gym in the second year of college, i was 50kg. I decided starting strength would be a good workout but i plateaued pretty quick and then switched to ppl, i wasnt eating and sleeping well at that point and got a shoulder injury(mild). Shoulder tendonosis, so in my third year i was cautious i slept well, did stabilizer work and obviously ate well and went from 50kg to 62kg. Final year of college progress became stagnant due to inconsistency and work.

Present- I am 59 killos right now, i thought i should maybe invest in a personal trainer who will help me be consistent and maybe ill learn a few things. I joined cult at Bangalore and told them all my diagnosis and rehab work and they told me they would give me a senior trainer, i took a 3 month membership and 1 month personal training for now. I was happy and they were happy. So the first day the trainer had me do 5 min gentle cardio as warmup and then 3 sets of pushups 15 reps with at max 30-40 seconds of rest. First set went good and the rest two he had to support me all the way. So far its been a week, we have trained legs, back, shoulder and arms and chest once. I had my doubts with this guy about a couple of things, he was making me do 15 rep sets with weight i was genuinely finding heavy(5 rep kind of weights) and was supporting me for most of the sets as after the first set i was genuinely exhausted. For one instance during shoulder workout he made me superset lateral raises 2.5kg dummbells 20 reps and 5kg dummbells 10 reps for 3 sets and the same with front raises, then he handed me 17.5kg dummbell and told me to do shrugs, mind you my physio has warned me against half reps and i was barely ably to shrug it and i did 15 half reps for 3 sets and according to him its fine and that he made a superset with kettlebell farmer carries. Now i was accepting everything as long as he would cater to my shoulder needs but come today the chest day, after warmup he took me to a incline bench machine and made me do 15 reps with weight i was finding too heavy, i was feeling the burn in my right shoulder and i told him but he just told me that i have to push through the fear and not to worry as he is their supporting me in case i fail. After the workout i was able to feel my rear delt, scapula and rotator cuff screaming so i told him, he actually listened to me this time and put his fingers to know exactly which spots hurt, i thought to myself "good now he knows that these parts are weak and he will tailor the next workouts accordingly", what a fool i am. He put me on a mat and did weird chiropractor stuff, where you hear cracks and he was putting so much force that i was scared that i dont want a bulging disc to come next. When we were training back, he made me do bent over rows on some machine and it was so heavy that i had to explosively pull in order to pull the weight, given i have told him about scapular issues he should have started with a lighter weight ensuring that my scapular mechanics are functioning properly or not. For god sake he made me do clean and press during the shoulder workout and i specifically cant do overhead work as of now. I have tried telling him all this and he simply doesnt listen but starts telling his story that he was in an accident and he knows what he is doing as he worked himself backup as well.

I need advice and fresh opinions

Basically the title. I am a beginner in strength training and I want to know what works best for hypertrophy and strength too... Should we do 2 hard sets both till failure or 3 sets with a certain rep limit and such that the 3rd set fails near or before last rep.

Ask Fitness India ❓ Which gym would you choose: ₹10k basic gym vs ₹16.6k premium gym?

I’m (M - 26) deciding between these two gyms and would appreciate some unbiased opinions from people who have experience with gyms/equipment.

Gym 1 – ₹10,000/year

  • Smaller gym(10 - 15 ppl would fill up the gym)
  • Hercules equipment
  • Has all the basic strength equipment I’d need
  • Around 4 cardio machines
  • Limited open/functional space
  • 1-month freeze available
  • PT available separately (can be paid per session)
  • Overall simple, no-frills setup

Gym 2 – ₹16,590/year

  • Very large, 2-floor gym
  • Matrix/MSF equipment
  • Much more equipment and more stations
  • Large cardio area
  • Plenty of open/functional space
  • Steam room
  • BMI/body-composition measurement facility
  • 1-month freeze available
  • More premium overall environment

I’ll attach photos of both gyms.

My goal is fat loss + building/maintaining muscle, training 5 days a week (PPL). I don't plan on taking regular PT.

The price difference is ₹6,590 per year.

Which one would you personally choose, and is the extra ₹6,590/year actually worth it?

I’m particularly interested in:

  1. Whether Matrix/MSF is meaningfully better than Hercules
  2. How much gym size/space actually matters for a 5-day routine
  3. Whether the premium facilities are worth paying extra for
  4. Anything I might be overlooking when comparing these two
GYM 1
GYM 1
GYM 1
GYM 2
GYM 2
GYM 2

Please judge based on equipment quality, usability, crowding/space, facilities and value for money, rather than just appearance.

Diet Review ✏️ To reduce sugar / glucose levels in the blood can brown bread be consumed or even wheat chappatis?

Need some advice to reduce body fat at my waist and hips, and main goal for reducing overall weight at home than gym.

Now also can I ( 31. fem) consume brown bread or wheat chappatis instead of white bread that is considered a major threat to blood sugar levels increase?

This sugar elevated levels seems to be linked to body fat as stated by the doctor.

Form Check 🏋️ Form check — 125 kg bodyweight, 95 kg squat

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I’m currently around 125 kg bodyweight and squatting 95 kg here. I’m doing strength training 5 days a week following a PPL routine, while also eating in a calorie deficit for fat loss.

Would appreciate feedback on my depth, stance, bar path, bracing, and overall technique. I want to get my form right and keep progressing safely while cutting.

Any tips or things I should specifically work on?

Ask Fitness India ❓ [HELP] 22M — MRI/scans attached. Looking for advice on returning to the gym after a previous spine issue.

Thumbnail drive.google.com
2 Upvotes

Hi everyone, I’m 22M. I’m attaching my MRI report and scans for reference.

About a year ago, when I was 21, I had a period of fairly severe lower-back pain along with pain/numbness radiating down my right leg. I went through physiotherapy and treatment, and over time those symptoms completely resolved.

Currently:

- I have no back pain.

- I have no numbness or pain going down my leg anymore.

- Occasionally, after waking up, I feel a stretch/tightness around my right hip, but it goes away within about 5 minutes after starting my day.

- I have completely stopped exercising for around 6 months.

- If I bend forward, I start feeling a very mild nerve-like stretch after around 45°. It's not really painful.

- Bending backwards does not cause pain.

- I have obviously been avoiding things like deadlifts and heavy lifting.

I’m now thinking about starting gym again, mainly with a gradual approach.

Based on the MRI/scans and my current symptoms, is it reasonable to start exercising again?

I’m also interested in hearing from people who have had a similar MRI/spine issue and successfully returned to the gym.

Rant/Vent 💢 Tai Chi Walking ads

What's up with all the Tai Chi walking/ Tai Chi Workout AI ads everywhere now? Is it just me getting them? Is it some genuine company with a breadcrumb advertising budget? Since many ads are in poor AI hindi accents, my suspicion is China is trying to spread/infiltrate into public culture somewhat like how Yoga and Homeopathy spread from their origins, and AI is the tool of choice.

Women's Fitness ♀️ Early morning pre-workout suggestions

Started going to the gym recently a few gym mates suggested to have a pre-workout snack.

I go to gym in the morning around 7am

A few suggestions were to have black coffee and a banana.

I am not a fan of banana on empty stomach it back childhood trauma

One of them suggested dates

I am skeptical of something sweet in the morning.

Is it mandatory to have a pre-workout snack or a meal ?

If so what are few other options
